  1. I'm looking at the Galaxy S on AT&T

I have a Galaxy S. It's amazing. I'm currently running UAE4Droid (Amiga Emulator) on it. It runs at full speed (A500)

Two problems though, Samsung's PC suite is very buggy. I had to install it about 5 times to get it on my XP SP3 machine. Even now the Software doesn't connect to the phone. However I can use the copy to mass storage method so no great shakes and obviously it syncs with Google anyway.

The other problem is the battery life is rubbish but there is meant to be a 2.2 update for the Galaxy in the next week or so this apparently should fix this issue.

  2. Sorry for offtopic:

Discussion on Formatwar started day after your first "Mona Lisa" post...

    http://www.atariage....ost__p__2109218

There was much silence since June. I was sure, someone will break it then. It's a good way to find people with good and bad intentions. Seeing the poster there..... no comment.

Why didn't you just say "Oops icon_smile.gif my mistake - it was not Picasso, it was Leonardo."

Because everyone knows about DaVinci's Mona Lisa.

This was to clarify to some people, why I get more mindfull after someone from the C64 Scene is posting here.

Emkay, what is the point in this?

It has no relevance to the first post on this thread.

  3. When I was at school I only knew one person with a CPC and always kinda felt sorry for him as most of us had Spectrums and there was a few with C64's.

I always found the CPC to be quite a strange machine as once you got away from the poor Speccy ports you had games that looked amazing and usually sounded great too, I loved the sound of the YM chip which was also in the Spectrum 128's, but the big problem came when they started moving. The scrolling was nealy always terrible and in driving games they moved so slowly, see Outrun - looks fantastic until it moves.

Amstrad also got alot of stick for the non standard 3" disk drive which they also put in the PCW and Spectrum +3. It meant everybody had to buy their more expensive own brand disks.

I loved the 8-bit age as it seemed each machine had trades offs against another one, there really was no clear winner as each machine had distinct advantages.

BTW. Did this thread started because of last issue of retro Gamer where armstrad was featured?

No, I have a lot of RG issues. Quite a few of them feature the CPC.

I brought this up because I believe the CPC version of Chase HQ is amazing. It's also playable and not a demo version. The OutRun A8 version is just a demo that doesn't seem to be anywhere near completion. Wolf 3D also seems the same.. Try moving/going round a corner and putting a few baddies in, i'm guessing it'll need a complete re-code.

You can always send a link to a demo of something but that doesn't mean when you put extra sprites in the mix it and make it 'playable' it's going to look anything like the Demo.

Paralax scrolling on the CPC (please note this is a demo and it could never be a game)

Put an enemy in there then you're fooked

  4. Hey!

Just to put it in the mix (this is not a troll thread)

The CPC was cool and the best machine for it's time. This is only because it was my first ever home computer. Whilst the machine was largely limited to Spectrum ports due to similarities, a straight easy port was always the money making way out.

However, when playing Chase HQ on the CPC I noticed it was possibly the best ever version ever to be released on the home computer.

Could the A8 do this or get near this? Chase on the CPC had an amazing array of colours (even when being double pixeled)

This was the best arcade port ever on the CPC platform. I just wish that there were good quality ports that show off the machine in this way.

    Cheers

    Aaron

  5. Pete, i begin to get a bit groggy typing everything in english, spelling errors are becoming more and more common, i have to edit a posting about 5 times right now. :D

I'll better log out for today.

    Ha en trevlig kväll. ;)

    bon débarras !

  6. DX!

    Help, why doesn't this work?

    10 PRINT "HELLO WORLD!";

    20 GOTO 1

    Aaron

Want to have it that way?

    Just bring it on. :)

    I will really enjoy this.

You really are very stupid. Are you dizzy on Lemonade or something?

    correct my code PLEASE!

    show me you are not.

    Aaron

  7. Why is this nonsense still going on DX?

I am trying to learn stuff or get a heads up as i know almost nothing about coding. You are not a programmer. So why argue with people who are programmers in a programmers thread?

Do you tell a surgeon how to operate? or debate with a Gardener when to sow their seeds?

Basically I know nothing and I want to learn and you are stopping me from doing that.

Can you stop being rude and turning this whole thing in to something you obviously want... A thread about you.

Be thankfull that the people in this forum are happy to help. Cut some slack, listen, get a compiler, compile... We could even bitch over 'Hello World' if you like.

    ELSE

    Someone's gonna get FIRED!

    Aaron.

  8. I wonder which computer naked guy prefers. On the one hand, the rainbow would suggest Atari, but his rainbow has a limited palette suggesting the 64. Also, he seems to be able to put the color anywhere he wants which is also more 64-like. I can't decide if he prefers 'clean' or 'unclean' graphics since he's half in the tub and half in the toilet.

Amstrad CPC. [Runs like buggery away from the CPC fanboys =-]

Is it? After all it came with a compulsory monitor as Rumbelows never stocked the modulator. My Mummy was very happy as she could still watch 'A Country Practice' and 'Sons and Daughters' as she still had her telly.

Try doing Chase HQ as good as the CPC version on any other 8 bit platform. In my humble opinion it was the best.

I Like the colour/res of the CPC it's very Fisher Price.

    Thank-You SugarDaddy!

    Aaron

  9. I actually prefer the Amstrad CPC's pallette to the A8's.

Don't tell DimensionX that, he'll go totally mental when he realises the CPC has even less shades of grey than the C64! =-)

I am not a programmer (well I am trying to learn 6502 very slowly.) I have been reading this thread silently for quite while. It seems as though i've stopped learning things because there's too much arguing and not enough listening.

Well, when the discussion was mostly programmers we were actually discussing programming... now DimensionX is back that's slowed down. But the best way to learn is to ask questions, what do y'want to know then?

At the moment I am using this resource for the C64. http://tnd64.unikat.sk/assemble_it.html

I chose the C64 over the A8 as I used to use one as a child so it's my preferance. I would try CPC but there's nowhere near as much much coding support as the C64 has. Well I don't speak French let's put it that way!

I'm finding the discussions regarding C64/A8 hardware limitations etc of each machine interesting and maybe perhaps it's giving me a heads-up.

I guess reading this i'm kinda working backwards. I'm still getting used to 'Hello World'. But when that's done I reckon it'll sure impress the chicks ;)

    Aaron

It seems as though there's no progression. Can we break the cycle?

  11. What I said was.....

    Nothing?

Or could you explain your cause for writing here more exactly?

Sorry Dude i'm new to this banter....

Making love is now better than war.

Paula my darling. 8 bit sound chip was she.

I have said nothing to enlighten you or the community...... I'm just a hardcore Miggy fan... I can't help it.

Would you ever use the ST AY in production presently?

Can we go back to the A8 vs C64... ? It's easier watching.

    I feel silly...

    Soz.

  12. I sat, and then I sat MIDI was just there internally... but who used it? (lots of musicans) £15 amiga was sorted for that too. Who reckoned Xenon 2 - The Megablast sounded better on the ST??? Only people who had an ST. The independant adjudicator knows otherwise.

AMIGA had a great sound chip. But it had many flaws. One is that separated stereo... 2 channels to the left and 2 channels to the right. This kills many tunes. Some trackers used software mixing to enhance stereo, but then the sound got noisy.

There is actually one game where I prefer the ST YM chip sound : Cambers of Shaolin. The "plastic" sound seemed to fit better to those tunes...

The AMIGA tunes won often by the samples used... Amiga was not cheap, but it seems again to be a money issue, not to use a "balance" logic for the channels, and to add some filter for each channel, to reduce the sampling noise on deep sounds. And so on...

    Dear Emkay,

If you are to quote me please DO NOT edit it.

This is not what I said.

What I said was..... (and what you should have addressed, the whole of it) Poo shouldn't be a problem ;o)

I sat, then I sat some more.....

I was surfing through this forum..... Then I shat myself.

I couldn't believe my eyes. ATARI ST vs AMIGA........ I wiped... I looked at the tissue and saw the ST on my piece of bog roll.

Jesus... I feel as though my great grandmas, uncles dad had come back with an 'uninformed ad-hoc reckon' about horse racing.

We all know there is nothing the Atari ST (512k) can do that the Amiga 500 (512k)(for all you cynics).

Okay, Okay, mention the MIDI why don't you????

Gotta say, for me as a dealer back then, the public really went for the ST till mid 89 or so,We used to show the St doing most anything the Amiga could do,for less money. Amiga had a brief but hot period 89 to 90 then that was it. Pc's.. I use em and I hate em (or at least microsoft) ;)

But dealers use Amigas (Miggy is whiter Remember).... It goes with the terrority.

Did you ever get an earache listening to the ST?

You can't sell HAM on an ST can you?

  15. and perhaps maybe a little 'chip heat' analysis.

"Phwoar, look at the heat sink on that!"... =-)

oooooooo, perhaps a bit of 'Hotchip' would be in order....

Who can make the processor the hottest?

I 'reckon' STE'86 has some hot GFX stuff under his belt...BMX SIM loading screen was well good..... THAT'S HOT!!!

    Shame about the game........

But, can't ALL be as cool me!

Tough choice, but this is what it boils down to, which one do you love most

Has this become a portal for women?

It seems odd... I'm on my holidays after all... Please could you post circuit boards of c64 and the A8 ONLY???? We can then compare and argue over the size of the chips.....

and perhaps maybe a little 'chip heat' analysis.

  17. Hello!

I'm new to this thread and feel rather shy, may I speak in the same language but on a different level?
