Great. Try the 320k version of commando. It has improved intro screen and music. -

I'm thinking two levels. Arcade something easier than arcade. Maybe a few special options like speedy Mario or something else to give the player an advantage.

Gameplay by Trebor.

Cool. That's good to know. Is there info on how they work posted somewhere?

I can think of 8 that have been written with POKEY support. Two support it in the released version. The others could be offered as XM versions without POKEY in the cart. Donkey Kong XM (supported in existing carts) Beef Drop VE (supported in existing carts) Pac-man 320 Ms. Pac-man 320 (dual pokey/tia version completed but not published) Pac-man Collection (dual pokey/tia version completed but not published) Super Circus AA Bentley Bear Crystal Quest Froggie One more that I know of is in process D2K

Here's a WIP of the ramps screen. I'm starting with it because it's the most demanding in terms of number of moving objects. I'm just working through the graphics code right now. When that's running I'm going to do a strait up conversion of the arcade code so it will play exactly the same. Marco is updating the graphics from what we did in DKXM. If you put it side by side with the XM version you should notice the ramps are more accurate. He just sent me a sample of Donkey Kong that is much improved as well.

Beefdrop VE for sure has both POKEY and Standard sound built in. There is a binary posted for the POKEY version of Pac-man Collection but it doesn't have the standard sound. It's a 32k game and there wasn't enough space to include both sound options. The POKEY version was designed to work on a 32k Ballblazer cart. I'm pretty sure that's what Al has used for any POKEY versions of PMC he has sold. I have created a 48K XM version that has both POKEY and Standard TIA built in but didn't release it since I didn't have an XM unit to test it on. Maybe Al can offer it in the store once the XM's start shipping. My intention for D2K is to support both POKEY and TIA so it will work with or without the XM.

Please tell me were I can get POKEY's for $10. Seriously, I'll buy them out. The POKEY's are easily $15-$20 plus the PLD get's eliminated, saving a couple more dollars. With the shipping to buy the doner BB cart, it's an easy $20 premium for a POKEY cart. The XM also opens the door to games requiring RAM. There aren't any new boards that take SRAM.
-
It should work with the Mateos cart in 32P or 48P mapping mode, which puts the on-cart POKEY at $4000

It was done for the 800 and 5200 by a guy named Paul Lee. You can grab a copy here. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/64470-missile-command-atari-8bit-hack/?do=findComment&comment=1082409

Best practice on a programming environment for Atari 8-bit?
tep392 replied to jmccorm's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'm using Mac/65 for editor/assembler, Envision for graphics on an 800 with 512k ramdrive running warpspeed DOSXL from an 810 Happy enhanced drive. I use Sdrive^2 for periodic backups. -
The XM just sees the multi cart like any other cart. The file format required by the multicart doesn't change.
-
I have tested Donkey Kong XM and Beefdrop VE on the XBOARD, so they should work fine on the XM since they use the same POKEY configuration. I've tested Froggy using my flashcart on the XBOARD so it should work, but we would need to test the release version of the ROM to be sure it still does. I'm pretty sure all of Bob's ROM releases that support POKEY will work. I've tested Ms. Pac-man 320 and the POKEY version of Pac-man Collection and they work.

I'll put you on the list. I've run out of boards but should be ordering more soon.

I made a hack of Missile Command+ to support 3 button mouse using the paddle lines. It will detect the paddle inputs and switch to three button mode automatically, otherwise it defaults to single button. I haven't posted it yet because I haven't had time to modify my cx80 for three buttons so I can test in hardware. I ordered buttons so it's just a matter of finding time to mod it. Works in emulation.

I don't know what testing Curt may have done, but I don't think any test units have been shipped. I can't imagine he would be shipping final units until some test units have been thoroughly tested.

Good start. Add - 48K ramcart mode for s/w development - 128k RAM with multiplexing for independent Maria / CPU access. - NTSC and PAL compatible HSC. Old HSC didn't support PAL

I posted an update on Dec 18th, post# 1470. I don't expect anything has changed since then considering the time of year.

Floppy s/w, preferably boxed, and other hardware upgrades for my 800, 800xl or floppy drives. I could use a happy for my 1050. -

This is my last post on the topic. I'm an engineer and have been managing projects much larger than the XM for many years. All this talk about managing requirements and scope creep is a big duh to me. The features of the BIOS are NOT on the critical path, so stop lecturing me about it. Please.
-
Funny thought just occurred to me. More time has been spent debating XBOARD in this thread than it actually takes to write the code that would detect and manage it.
-
I don't think there are any console mods besides the XBOARD. Video mod's don't need special treatment. The BIG challenge is actually "plain old vanilla" 7800. Just have to look at the Concerto "pilot" release for an example. The standard machine is where the challenge lies.
