1. I was thinking of trying to build on myself so that I could get more objects on the screen at once, that limitation really bothers me, I know you can use registers to get more, but I want to be able to have more unique objects on the screen at once. Also I feel that if I'm going to truly learn 6502 Machine Language, it will be best if I do everything from scratch!
2. Thank you for trying out the game and letting me know what you thought! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
3. x2! Great game disjaukifa, clearly you've written video games before if not some related kind of programming. It reminded me of popcorn, trying to catch everything until this little Berserker robot dude came out and attacked me, unexpected and made the game even more interesting - very cool I'm glad you enjoyed that game! That was the whole idea behind this project, to create something fun for people to play. I'm a software engineer by profession, though I do all my coding in Java, I have had to shift my thinking when I work on the 2600 because I'm going from Object Oriented Programming to Procedural Programming which is a completely different mindset! I've already got my next game laid out, but the big trick is I'm waiting to program that game in 6502 Machine Language instead of Basic so I can save more space, and do more with my 4K limitation!
4. Hey Guys, Couple of minor updates! First I order the boxes today that I'm going to mailing out Candy Catcher in so those should get here Friday! Second I got some more donor cartridges from DJT today in the mail, so thank you DJT! Though I'm not sure I'm going to take apart SwordQuest Waterworld, the label is ripped but I think it might be rare Third I was on the phone today with DHL, Batronix and finally USPS about the location of my BX32 programmer. DHL and Batronix where completely helpful and polite. USPS was polite . . . but a bit clueless. In short USPS does have it but the guy on the phone didn't know the tracking number I had given them would even work in there system. Apparently because they got the package as an "E Parcel Group" its being delivered form New York, NY to VA via parcel post which can take up to two weeks . . . which is this Saturday and because of the holiday weekend last weekend it could be next Monday or Tuesday before it get it . . . I'm hoping gets here sooner rather than later, I'm still planning on shipping on the first couple of games next week. Does anyone other than me find it odd that a package can get from GERMANY to New York, NY in 3 days across an ocean, but getting it from NY to VA takes about 2 weeks . Forth I've been testing the game constantly trying to find any defects/glitches left in it and so far I haven't found anything! Thanks guys!
5. Yeah I'm still looking for one, I was thinking about building a redundant battery backup for it so I could change out the batteries and not worry about it going bad!
6. Yup, once you have dumped the game it will be easy to find out if it's done with bB. You can disassemble the .bin with DiStella (the game looks like it's 4K so disassembling it should be easy). You could also just compare it with another bB-game with Hack-O-Matic. Yup thats what I thought, just need to get my dumper built . . . which is going to be a while because of my various other projects going on at the moment!
7. Yep, i'm sure it's done with bB. Going to sound like such a noob but if I dumb the game, I can covert the binary to Machine Language correct? From there it will be easy to see if it was done in bB because of how the memory map will be setup right?
8. Honestly I'm not completely sure what its done it, I actually think it might be done in assembly. I'm in the process of trying to build a cartridge dumper along with my various other projects so we can have a digital copy of this game. Its so quirky that its awesome. The back story in this game actually improves the gameplay 10 fold, you have the guy in a pink dress, you have the guy on a segway and you have the zombies as well. Its fantastic.
9. The trick is to move down really quickly and then shoot up! Hahahah I got side tracked last week with game dev so I could do Wizard of Wor, but I'm going to be all over this one!
10. I'm curious for an update as well, I would love to get this text in a box I can set in front of me!
11. Good point ianoid! All autographes will be done on the back side of the cartridge, not on the front label!
12. Hey Guys, Here are some of the supplies that I've gotten from CPUWIZ, I'll update this post with pictures of the cleaned cartridges in a little bit! Thanks
13. Hahah yeah I guess I should have mentioned I bought the game from Rick. I've played for about 30 minutes now, and its one of the strange games that once you really think about the description and get it in your head, it becomes a goofy fun game!
14. Hey Guys, Ya'll got to check this out, I got in the mail a game called Maciver today. It came with a piece of paper that was printed out and torn in half with the following description: Here are the pictures of the cartridge: If I understand the back hand writing on the cartridge its the 7 of 7 cartridges produced. Here's a video of the game being played by me that I just uploaded: Its just a crazy little game! -Disjaukifa
15. I got to admit I have wanted to get that game for my PS3, it does look simple yet difficult at the same time! And the music does rock
16. I really don't like DHL/USPS . . . been over 2 weeks waiting for a programmer to get here that was suppose to be here in 5 business days . . .

1. Bryan

Bryan

Programmers shouldn't be sent via mail. They need water and air holes.

2. svenski

svenski

lol @Bryan . Crazy combination DHL&USPS - the Germans are coming, coming I tell ya!

17. I hope you have the fixed version of the game. Impossible Mission as originally released in North America really is impossible. I don't own the fixed version yet I still got the game and the system!
18. I recently got an Atari 7800 for the sole purpose of playing Impossible Mission, thats the only reason I got the console. I got Berzerk the board game just because I love Berzerk 2600 so much . . . however it turns out my wife and I love playing that game together so +1 for that purchase.
19. dkerfoot, I got my book today, again thank you so much! I'm really looking forward to sitting down and trying to learn assembly for the 6502 cpu! Thanks again Disjaukifa
20. I completely missed that, that looks like its going to be the perfect tool to help organize everything that is on the site! I hope it gets implemented soon!
21. Hey Chuck, If at some point in the future you want I copy, I'll make one for you! Like I said in my original post, this is not a limited release! I purposely made the .bin available on the first post so people could try the game and have fun with it before they decided to buy it. For me at least, this was a way I could make a small new game for the community to have fun, which this whole project was about, playing the good ol' 2600 and having some fun! -Disjaukifa
22. Exactly! Also with the availability of Harmony, I'm sure there are plenty of homebrew games out there finished but the programmer couldn't afford to make them into cartridges or didn't know how to and have been somewhat forgotten! i would love to have a breathing list if you will of all the various games people have "finished" for the 2600.
23. List updated with everyone that has asked to be on it and with everyone that has paid as well! Good News! I got in the first 25 PCBs and EPROMs from CPUWIZ today and they look fantastic. I've got 8 cartridges taken apart and cleaned and the labels are on their way as well! Bad news, much to my frustration and aggravation, my Batronix BX32 programmer still has not shown up thanks to the wonderful service of DHL/USPS, if I had known it was going to be this much of a hassle, I would have paid the extra money for the express shipping. I ordered the programmer on September 27th from Germany and its still not here. I know its in the US and it has passed customs, and USPS currently has it but other than that I don't know anything else about it. I'm going to contact USPS and the manufacturer both here in a little bit. I'll post pictures of everything when I get home tonight. Thanks!
