Thanks

I've never dealt with Best Electronics, but I will say this, you can find excellent condition consoles here in the Marketplace thread, just be sure to ask for plenty of pictures!

I have to admit I'm curious about this as well!

Just played this for the first time, and here's my thoughts:
I like the jiggle, I mean, oscillation. The pseudo-randomness of it is nice, and could be incorporated into play strategy, if you change the scoring slightly.
I like the idea of a time-based score, but not as simple as it is now. What if you gain a point for every second you're not moving, thus bringing that oscillation into play? For as long as you are actively moving the player, you get no points.
I also like the idea of the ball bouncing around inside, and the walls expanding and contracting as you go.
As for the power-up and life-bar ideas, can they be combined? The power-up lets you absorb the ball for an extra hit, but only for a brief window of time. I'm not sure how many objects you can include on-screen, but a multi-ball environment would make this absorption-power-up very useful.
I'm curious to see how this turns out in the end...
Hey DT,
I haven't posted any updates on Atomic Meltdown because of Candy Catcher (a homebrew I just finished programming) however I have been working on this in the background! I'm in the middle of a complete re-write at the moment and only have a basic setup done. I've been playing with various ideas, but essentially what you are suggesting is how the game will work.
- Score will be time based on the amount of time you ARE NOT using the joystick
- Right now I have a new sprite from PAC-MAN-RED that I will be using that has 4 pylons on it, each time you get hit you will lose a pylon
- After going X amount of seconds without moving you will get an opportunity to get a pylon back onto your atomic matter
- If you have all 4 of your pylons and you go X amount of time, you get the super something (I haven't figured out the name yet) and you can absorb other flying matter without penalty and you get bonus points added to your score.
- I plan on using the life bar to control how long your power up lasts.
- Also if you get the super something, your piece will not jitter during that time period
I've got yet another game I'm working on at the moment as well called UV Eraser that I really want to get done, but my wife is bugging me to get this game done as it was my first game and I've yet to get it finished. I'll try updating the binary sometime this week and posting it!
Thank you for your thoughts and feedback!
Thanks

Yeah I had a heck of a time finding it, had to just search for Atari 2600 and then sort by price. I'm really hating eBay's new "sorting" feature.

I got my game today. Excellent packaging! Label is very high quality. The game is fun to play, and look forward to playing it some more. My vote for one of the best value homebrew games to come out. Love the text label btw.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
*UPDATE*
Hey Guys,
I got an email from Marc yesterday and the boxes are done. I've updated the first post to have pictures of the new boxes but I'm including them here as well. I have to agree with Marc the boxes came out fantastic!
I've got 20 loose cartridge available to be sold as well for people still interested in the game. The loose cartridge version will use the same label as the CIB version of the game and the price is $20 shipped in the US.
I've placed the order for the EPROMs, Labels, and the boxes are on their way. I'll keep everyone update on everything!
Thanks

Hey Guys,
Shipped out a couple more games today, and I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of ya'll as well. Can everyone please check the list of the front page and make sure it reflects correctly that you have been marked paid if you have paid. If I don't have you marked as paid, can you please PM me with the Paypal transaction number? I'll be going through the list again to make sure I have everyone marked correctly.
Thanks

The sound is fantastic! Thanks for the updated video Al!

Its probably a mixture of license fees and technology required to make the cartridge. I don't have a clue what size the rom is or if it uses a Super-chip but that all adds to the cost as well.

Hey Guys,
I hacked Berzerk a while ago to make krezreB which is Berzerk but mirrored. Here is the binary for it.
Here is my original thread about the hack: krezreB
I'm thinking about releasing it on a cartridge and would love to see some nice artwork done for it! If the hack is released, the winner of the contest will receive a free copy of the finished game.
I would like the artwork and box to be similar to the original Berzerk game but inverted, meaning a Robot blowing away a human, but I would also like it mirrored as well, so instead of the robot being on the right like the human is, I'd like it on the left.
Please post your concept art in this thread!
Thanks

Hey Guys,
I was eating lunch about 3 days ago and this game came into my head out of no where and I wrote it down in as much detail as I could remember. Here is what I had written down:
The game is going to be called UV Eraser. You are the QCM (Quality Control Manager) at an EPROM manufacturing plant. Theres been a problem, after the EPROMs had been initially loaded with data to check that they could be written to correctly, however they weren't erased! Its your job to control the two UV light guns and erase the EPROMs going down the three conveyor belts before they get to their shipping boxes on the left hand side of the screen.
As of right now I haven't done much of anything with it, this really is only a concept build, however you can switch between the two lasers and move them.
Though I haven't completely figured out all the mechanics of the game here is what I would like to accomplish:
- The game is going to end once all the boxes on the left have red EPROMs in them (red meaning data is on them).
- Each UV Gun can only cover two of the three conveyor belts forcing you to switch between the two UV light guns
- Each conveyor belt will have an independent increasing speed
- On easy you can reset a bad EPROM in a shipping box by clearing X amount of eproms
- Randomly generate when an EPROM starts down a conveyor belt
- I'd like to have a music track in this game, but this will be the last thing I work on
Download the binary and let me know what you think!
Thanks

Hey Random, I would buy a copy as well, you should consider releasing this game! I think it would be a hit!

Is the $75 for just the cartridge or for the cartridge, box and manual?
That's all inclusive.

I'm sold! Put me down for at least 1!

Too my part of the fun of homebrew games in general is being able to talk to the author about the game and that is what I have strived to-do!
Also I've been curious, what scores are people getting on Candy Catcher?
