If you open it up and see components with 1978 date codes than you at least know it WASN'T built in 1977. Otherwise it could've been built in '77 or early '78. Also, the earliest ones don't have the channel select
I have a 78 telegames 6 switch that had a bad power chip (black 5volt unit) when I got it. I fixed it myself but noticed that it has aluminum shielding unlike the newer ones. Is this common or did someone put the guts from a heavy sixer in it? I've never taken my heavy sixers apart but read that they were aluminum shielded. I also noticed that the 78 seems to way about the same as my heavy sixers but the case is different. I'm going to take it apart to see if there's any dates inside it.
just opened both of my systems the 77 heavy sixer and the 78 telegames. there identical inside except the 78 has a channel select switch. even compared the shielding and a match. don't know why thought only the 77's were this way

It depends on the cart. Some of them can't be coaxed off for anything, others come right off with heat. I use a hair dryer to help soften the glue up, then usually I can peel them right off. I've torn a couple that way, though, out of the many I've opened for one reason or another.
Generally, if it's R4 and under, you're probably best off getting another cart unless you're just attached to that one or can't find it easily (i.e., no game stores nearby, hate ebay, etc.) I don't replace labels unless they are just awful or they're missing. This is a good time to change to that uber rare label variation, too. The ones I've done that had both labels and I replaced 'em both were Submarine Commander, which had been in a flood, and Superman, which was missing half the end label but got repros of the Sears pic/yellow text labels. Oh, and the Centipede I tore down so I'd have the shell for a rare 7800 game.
Elmer's school glue sticks work wonders to attach labels. They're the purple ones. Don't worry, they dry clear. All you gotta do is put it on, press out the label, run some heat over it to set the glue, and wipe off the excess.
thanks for the info. it will come in handy

Hi all
Here's some screenshots of the latest built of Mario Bros
The game is almost done, only some tweaking & minor things to add
Otherwise, it's on the way to be release in September

What are these carts selling for? I like it

worth hard to reliably determine, but rarity 9's fetch well into the hundreds of dollars consistently.
@Cebus, I don't have to buy that game, I live it, and my soul/sanity meter emptied out long ago. GAME OVER
Wow I'm kind of sad now. Back then I thought I had something and was mad at my mom for the longest time. Now I just chock it all up as things just happen.

I'm guessing this auction might be the reason for this auction on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/STARPATH-SUPERCHARGER-EXPAND-GAMES-GAMING-ATARI-2600_W0QQitemZ130333024035QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item1e58741f23&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
175 bucks for a loose supercharger, this guy is out of his mind.
I'm watching this auction for amusement to see if it sells. Couldn't believe the other went for $200. there should be a forum for our amusement just for crazy stuff like this. I'd feel bad for the winning bidder but there are many ways to find out what something is worth and these people didn't take that time. I wanted one but knew to find out what it was worth so I checked on this site. I have one now and paid less than one quarter of that. Now I'm looking into a Harmony cart

I can't believe no one has mentioned the single best reason for the Sega CD yet!!!
http://waxy.org/2006/02/penn_tellers_sm/

Until someone finds a copy of Duelin Firemen for the 3DO, the above has to be the best CD game ever!!!

Of note, there are some Sega Master System games which will require the original SMS controller to play.
*snipz*
Wonder Boy in Moster Land
I found that out the hard way. Luckily I had a few of them lying around.
I need a sms controller to. going to see what I can find on ebay.

I just tried it with chopper command. wow I guess it does work. this was my favorite game as a kid for the 2600. sweet. thanks guys
-
I really should have checked this. What did the other guy offer you? I may undercut it.
It's a done deal. service was great and I'm happy with my deal.

X-man, most likely.

I had a game given to me by a friend when I was in 3rd grade. It was an adult video game. My mom caught me with it and threw it out. I'm trying to figure out what the name of it was so I can get it over again. It had three different positions and you had to get well you know. thanks for your help guys.

email sent. cant wait to here back thank you.

It's not going to work, the Super Scope uses infrared sensor equipment more similar to the Wii remote than to the Zapper, which won't in itself be compatible with NES games regardless of the hardware you're playing them on. Just get the Yobo zapper.
thanks for the info I'll check into the yobo zapper

Get the Sonic Retro Mega Mix, great game! For the 32X, Shadow Squadron, Doom.
I'll check those out thanks

I just got a sega cd gen 1 and a 32x adapter. What are the best games for it. It came with sonic cd. I know nothing about the cd ad on except there are two styles and I have the first style. thanks guys

Love the site its the best one I've seen. I was thinking that it would be cool if there were seperate dedicated forums for the colecovision and the intelivision systems. I collect both as well as atari. I know you have a forum for several consoles in one but it takes some fishing to sort it out. bet there would be more posts on topics opened if you set that up. just a suggestion. Thank you keep up the good work
-
I wouldn't think so.
The reason I ask is the retro duo uses standard snes controllers with no mods

Atari games are getting harder to find in maine to. I went to over 100 yard sales and out of those I asked all of them if they had any for sale. 38 people told me they tossed the old junk while preparing for the yard sale. Can't believe anyone would toss this stuff as junk. Wonder how often this happens. It's a crying shame

I'm thinking about getting one, but I want to know whether or not it needs a power adaptor of it's own in order to work.
I got on ebay for $20 free shipping. Doesn't require a power supply and will work with the cards I'm very happy with mine no scratches on it and I haven't come across any games that wont play in it. You can also find adapters to to play sega master system games in the sega game gear on ebay.

I was breaking down my 2600's and cleaning them. I saved my sixers for last. I noticed My 77 Sunnyville heavy sixer was almost Identical to My sears tele-games system on the inside except there was a channel select switch on the sears version. I know the sears is not a heavy sixer because of the outer case but it looks as if someone put a heavy sixer in the case. is that possible? both have aluminum shielding and I was told this was only used on heavy sixers.
