  1. Graham Percy designed a larger RAM cart for the DevOS system. Unfortunately, his website is no longer up. I think this is the last version of the instructions. You also need to email Eckhard for the updated software to go with it.

That is an awesome post the info is far better than what I hoped for. Thank you

  2. Telstar arcade for sale. Fully cleaned and tested. Works great. Included is the console, gun, power supply, rf switch box, rf direct adapter, and game carts 1, 2, and 3. This setup is ready to play. No jitter in the controls. There is a small crack in both sides of the cart slot which doesn't affect the system (first pic). The sticker on the steering wheel is in poor shape to(see pics). Feel free to ask for pics you want or ask questions. PM me with your offers. My user name on ebay is chriswhit-2009 if you want to check me out. I do take paypal or money orders.

edit= I did test the gun on a regular television. Used the high def. only to get better screen shots.

  3. Good question. Anything larger than 48K would have to be bankswitched, and I don't think building a bankswitched RAM cartridge is as simple as replacing the ROM with an SRAM chip. As I recall, 7800 bankswitching is controlled by writing the bank number into the ROM space, but this would change the contents if that space was writable (as it would be with a RAM chip in it). In addition to that, I doubt DevOS is currently set up to write to such a cartridge, since none currently exist.

I'd love to see more support for the XBoard, which adds 128K of RAM to the system in addition to a POKEY chip. That would be ideal for game development/testing, since it would eliminate the need to have RAM/POKEY on the cartridge. Granted, you'd have to modify the game for a standard cartridge when it's finished, but that wouldn't be too difficult.

I'm ordering an Xboard. Will I have to take it out to run games with a pokey?

  4. I want to like Double Dragon for the 2600, I try to play it and I advance a little further every time (which really isn't far at all). Do I suck at it? Does it suck? Or is it just too hard (this is my theory)?

Has anyone ever hacked it so it might be playable?

    Curious,

A home built arcade stick or nes conversion controller would make it easier but is still hard.

  5. I have a couple of broken consoles that I'd like to sell rather than throw them away. PM me your zip code for a shipping quote. I have them both packed up in separate boxes, so if you want both of them, you'll be getting 2 packages.

    Broken Intellivision

    • Sold as-is
    • All I get is static on the screen when attempting to turn it on
    • No RF cable is included
    • Might be missing some parts (springs, screws, etc)

Asking for $2 plus actual shipping costs.

    Broken NES

    • Sold as-is
    • Won't power on
    • Has lots of permanent marker writing on bottom
    • Has all internal components, but nothing should be expected to work
    • Missing some screws
    • Bare console only, no cables or controllers

    Asking for $3 plus shipping.

You can remove permanent marker marks from plastic with top brite metal cleaner. Put a thin film on the marks then wait about 20 minutes then rub in a circular motion. repeat till marls are gone. They will lighten up with each application even on a white surface.

http://www.topbrite.com/ Just don't get it on your labels as its not forgiving.

  6. De Re Atari when it arrives plus am going to subscribe here just to support a good cause :)

Glad to here it the more subscribers the better. I got a Harmony for Christmas and the rest of the chips I needed to finish my 7800 ram cart. Sweet. The Harmony is awesome. Well worth the money

  7. Just wondering (like others), when will the store be open? I really want to buy some homebrews. :)

Yeah man I know it, when I finally get some mad money to spend for the holidays, the store leaves. :)

I saw another post Albert responded to saying to pm him with what you want and he will be happy to help you.

  8. I'm not familiar with Nero. Did it install some sort of plugin for your browser that takes over when you try to upload attachments? Can you describe exactly what's taking place?

    Thanks,

    ..Al

The site tells me " upload skipped (Error IO)) dow at the bottom of the page. When I just open my photos in my computer nero seems to take over changing the way my Icons look. Nero is a cd-dvd burning program that I use to make back up copies for Sega cd it also works with photos and seems to over ride my vlc player with its own version changing my road cone styled icons into cd icons with a blue arrow in the corner. I use this program a lot so I hate to dump it but if its the only way to get my photo uploads to work then I'll have to. The same thing happens on ebay to which is costing me as I cant list something with a photo unless I'm re listing. If I could disable nero till I needed it it would be great. I just remembered that I also updated adobe reader at the same time. I don't know if this is an issue to. Figure it must be Nero as its made a lot of changes to my computer. I'm guessing nero installed many plugins to my computer. The version is Nero 7 essentials.

  9. As Jaybird mentioned, they probably still have them at www.atarimax.com. That's where I got mine about 6 months ago. Not listed but just email the site owner and he can sell it to you.

I think it was about $50.

I haven't made much use of it yet but it was an easy install since I lucked into a socketed Maria.

The XBOARD isn't widely supported by homebrewers. I think only BeefDrop detects and uses the POKEY on it.

Froggie (incomplete) also supports it (for sound).

It's more useful for programming though. It gives you a luxury of sound+ram to work with, without needing that stuff on your devcart. Of course ultimately you have to convert it to something you can produce in a distributable cartridge.

It's going into my dev system for just that reason. I will also be doing an s video mod to it soon. I wonder if there are anymore mods that can be done to it?

  10. I recently got a Telstar arcade with the controllers for cart 2 for four player mode. Some idiot cut the 6 pin din off attempting to fix a connection issue that was actually a dirty potomiter. Now I need the pinout to fix them as I didn't get the original plug with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
