Try cleaning all the connections where the module plugs in to the system and both ends of the module. If that doesn't work then I'd guess a loose connection in the module or system going to the module. If you know someone else with a Coleco try it in there system after cleaning then at least you will know if there is an issue with your console or the module. There may even be a region protection issue If the carts are pal version and your system is a ntsc version although I am unsure if that matters on a coleco system as I don't have any pal games to see what happens when I power it up. I hope this helps. Have a great holiday

Yesterday I read a post about that. I'll see if I can find it again. I believe it will work with it but I also read that if a game cart is incompatible with the fb2 then the rom will also be incompatible.

Not mine. Saw this while looking for systems from other countries and thought it was interesting. I don't know what these are worth but its from Finland I think and I don't see much for this system. Figured someone may be interested. I'd like to know more about the system this goes to

I now have cart 1 and 3 coming in the mail. Awesome. The only thing that stinks now is I'm self employed and just got stiffed a grand which means I may have to sell this after I test it unless I find another odd job. If I do decide to sell this I will offer it here first. Hopefully I won't have to as I wanted one of these for a long time and all the tested ones I've tried to win on epay went for more than I could spend at the time. Ebay is awful imagine 40 items listed and only 20 sell and my fee is $91. On the up side I'd still have all those motorcross bike parts if ebay didn't exist. Does Crags list have fees like that to? I never knew the seller paid so many fees until I became one.

I looked around a bit and can't find anything. I need some pcb's for 2600 and 7800 home brews. What boards are better to use? Do they make these new? I'd like to get a variety of boards so I don't have to order every time I do a project. Can I get boards from used carts and if so which carts should I look for? I am new to making my own carts. Any info would be great. Thank you

I found all the parts I'm missing. I got the game cart# 3 comming in the mail. When it gets here I will be testing it. I found a gun by showing this system to a few friends. One of which happened to have one of these systems with all the games missing so he gave it to me. Talk about luck. I'm sure one of the two decks should work.

That's the cool thing about DevOS. It doesn't affect the day to day operation of the 7800. Mine runs the just DevOS BIOS. I was asked if I wanted a dual boot BIOS, but I declined. It takes a second longer to hit select then reset.
I was gonna recommend an earlier system for the mod. Mine is one of the later ones, and it took me a while to socket the BIOS and MARIA chips. You don't have to pull the MARIA. I only did because at the time I was planning another mod which I never completed.
I used an 84 which was already socketed. I'm assuming that you are talking about the xboard? I'm thinking about this to. I don't know much about it but I'm assuming that it's needed for certain games when using a ram cart but I'm not sure. I'm going to read up on that today. Surprisingly the dev. mod was very easy once I got into it. I made a mistake building my ram cart out of a Hat trick cart. I didn't take note of which way the to chips were turned on the board lol. Can anyone tell me which way they go or post a pic of the inside of a stock cart. Thank you everyone. Also there is a typo error in the directions for the console mod for anyone building one of these. pin 14 on the 74LS04 is also sodered to the 74ls08.

I finally got all my parts in the mail for my dev system. My console mod is finnished with the devos. I burned the 2764 myself with my Willem advanced eprom burner. I put both operating systems on it. Sweet. The cable is done to. Now I just have to finnish the ram cart. I'm still waiting for my sram chip in the mail. I can't wait. The system still plays games great for those of you who are wondering. I guess I didn't need to buy a spare 7800 after all but it never hurts to have a spare. Thanks for the help guys

I finally got my Willem eprom burner to work. Now that I know what I'm doing it works great. I just programed a 2764 with the dev.os and now I have a working dev system with no bugs on the first try. The burner was tricky to figure out how to set up but for $30 with shipping I can't complain. The Willem eprom burners are great. I would buy this product again. I wish my digital camera was better I'd post pics of my mod job.

I'm sure it is compatible with your computer, but I wouldn't buy a Willem for Atari stuff. They require an extensive modification to be able to program the appropriate chips. Here is an alternative you may want to look at:

I am going to get one of these after xmas. Thanks

Hmm, as for getting DevOS to work on an XP machine, you might have to boot into a DOS environment. That means either booting DOS from a floppy disk or a USB stick. I never gave it much thought since I'm running a 98SE box right next to my 7800.
Eckhard Stolberg might be able to help.
I have a usb stick coming in the mail. My friend just offered me his old computer with windows 98 for $40 complete so I think I'm going to buy it and have it as a dedicated computer for atari stuff. My current computer has a 1000 gig hard drive and its almost 90% used up. I've never used dos before is that way more difficult?

I did a bit of research on my burner and its the advanced one which came already set up with settings to achieve 21volt vpp and also does 12.5v, 15v, and 25volt vpp settings. I installed the software but cant get it to work with the power adapter. It says check connection and power. I went buy the directions on set up. When I use usb instead it seems to be working, atleast it will read the eprom (2764) but from what I read I don't think I can burn the chip that way. I did change the jumpers for the power adapter when I tried that way. Stumped

You can't say we didn't warn you
awace seems to have made it work.... here is a link (warning: his posts are VERY hard to follow):http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/152589-using-willem-eeprom-burner/
Wonder if my eprom burner will work the same as it is a different model with more hardware to it. I will try it though. I don't have anything to loose as it was given to me by a friend that couldn't get it to work. I think I'm going to buy a better one after xmas. I was just hoping I could burn a dev os chip to finnish my 7800 up. thanks for the info

There are others to. I got one that said my account was limited due to logging in from a different IP address. It wanted me to give my user name-password to confirm it was me. Always log directly into pay pal. Don't go through your email. If there is an issue with your account you will find out then.

Maybe its not compatible was looking closer and is there a difference in the way erasable eproms are burned as apposed to just a regular eprom. I want to program 2764 erasable eproms which is not listed but the regular 27c64 is

What kind of mod are we talking? my friend gave me the one in the link. The on line manual says its compatible with the chips I want to burn.

I am running windows xp service pack 3 and am wondering if this burner is compatible with my operating system? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310124490071&ssPageName=STRK:MEBDIX:IT Also is there any way to make a 7800 dev. system work with xp? Thank you

Those RAM chips are in SOJ packaging. I've never built a RAM cart but I assume you would want DIP style, not surface mount.
Where do I find DIP style ram? I want to do this right as this will be used a lot. Thanks

Thanks for all your info so far guys. I have decided to use a 7800 with the expansion as I have two of them now. I have a few question though. One of my 7800's has a color issue that is more noticeable in 2600 mode and the sky on Pole position 2 for 7800 has a bit of purple tint will this affect the operation of the dev mod? If so is there a way to adjust it without any color bar generator or diagnostics cart? If I need a tool where can I get one? Thank you

Just finished a great transaction with AX. Fast shipping and packaged like a pro. excellent price to. Thank you

Yes that is the site I'm using for reference. A usb cable would be nice. I was going to get an older computer with a parallel port but if I could use usb it would be better. Maybe I could get pinout info for the usb and parallel port and craft my own. I'm guessing that I would need drivers though but I have some crafty friends when it comes to software.
I think Eckhard was working on a serial USB interface from the PC to the joystick port. You'd need the cable and a serial version of the 7800 dev OS firmware. Neither items have have been released as far as I know.
EDIT: For clarity.
I think I found a way to use it through usb. I built the cable by the directions using a controller wire and a parallel port cable then I found this on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330359569213&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I don't know if it will work yet as it hasn't showed up yet. I don't have a parallel port in my computer.

Where can I find parts for these? Gun game carts and so on. I'm low on cash till next week so just looking for options right now. Figured they must be hard to find from what I read. Also will other pistols from other coleco systems work

The motor and eye is the same in each style ps1 you just have to carefully change the plastic case around the unit to make it fit from 1 to the other. I've done this many times.

Are you using Eckhard Stolberg's site as a reference?
http://home.arcor.de/estolberg/tools/index.html
With the parallel port cable and homebrew RAM cart you can upload games using the 7800's joystick port.
Eckhard was working on a USB version of the cable but I don't know how far along that project is.

Is there a game that you now like but didn't 20 years ago?

It was Jr pac man for me. I hated how it scrolled as a kid. Now I play it often.
