Yes, it's disappointing.  This is not what I imagined the Internet would turn out to be when I first used it, in 1995.

All the information in the world at everyone's fingertips and all people generally use it to do is insult and disrespect each other (I'm guilty of it myself). It's a shame.

Absolutely correct. It's a platform for personal attacks and insults and more. And it happens right here, specificially, on atariage. No different than any other.
