They got them right nonetheless! Simple enough for most parts, no matter the source, to be bolt-on/bolt-off aside from major parts.

Strangely enough, yesterday was going to be Jeep maintenance day for me - then I discovered that the tyre carrier on the KJ had been attached to the tailgate with 16mm fasteners.  Not 15mm, not 17mm, 16mm.  Guess what size of impact bit I apparently don't own, and that no hardware store within a 200 mile radius stocks.

Amazon it is, and I'll have to live with the absolutely maddening squeaking coming from the carrier for a few more days.  Would like to take care of this sooner rather than later; if it moves enough to fatigue the tailgate metal, there's a chance of the whole thing tearing out.
