WAIT WHAT? Selling EVERYTHING?????????????????

All new cartridges should be made of wood. I like my cartridges to be flammable!
Ugh, Skull Island......
Such a shame that project ended up in "rip-off" status. -
But did the sub make it out alive? Inquiring minds want to know!

If you're looking for original games, Toyshop Trouble, Oystron, and qB are incredibly good, with an additional mention on my part for Seaweed Assault -- it is very addictive!

If you're looking for unique ports of other games, I would highly suggest either Ladybug, Juno First, or Medieval Mayhem. All have astounding graphics, great gampelay, and are absolutely some of the best quality homebrews out there.

What the Atari community would need is real molds for cartridge cases; for all systems. This way the butchering of old carts would stop, the rip-off of people selling old stock cart shells for ridiculous prices would stop, Lynx games would not have to come on naked PCBs, and Atari games would get rid of the stench of being made out of scrounged up old parts.
A 3D printer doesn't even come close sadly.
I think with the increase in tech, however, 3D printers will be able to not only come close but completely match original cart quality. IIRC the prototype shell Joe Grand made was several years ago, and the newer stuff being created on newer 3D printing solutions has been much closer to "perfect" in terms of a cart.I believe batari posted one of his creations a while back and, while not perfect, looked much improved. I think in the next 3-5 years we'll certainly see printers that are capable of producing near-perfect (or perfect) Atari 2600 cart shells for use in homebrews. I think it's just a matter of time, honestly.
On the topic of systems: Aside from Atari-on-a-chip or other "emulation" style solutions, I don't think there will ever be a "real" new system made at all. The components, or their replacements, would be much too costly to reproduce, and there's no economic incentive for anyone to actually create something like that. Large amounts of hardware engineering and production for something that might sell 5,000 units on a good run just won't capture profitability in such a way that anyone would be interested in endeavoring in the work. I think we can realistically expect more Flashback-style systems, for sure, because these are relatively low-cost to produce so it counteracts low volume through a decent margin, but anything that we collectors would consider close to "the real thing" in terms of hardware would be completely non-feasible.

Soooo tempted to take this over as my next project. It's almost as legendary as BD.

I think it's safe to say we have changed your name to Andrew "Delivers Results" Davie.

Snap this up someone! This is a PHENOMENAL price! Practically a fire sale! If I were in permanent digs I'd be buying it myself!
Also I can't name a specific food that tastes terrible cold.

Or do you have some strange fetish we don't know about?
OH YEAH CALIMARI OH YEAH
-
Very cool! So this would fit in a drive bay? I don't care if it rips a ROM, but I'm sure it has to, and it runs a batch file or something to automatically start up the emulator? I think this would be really cool to have in the front of a PC case.
Looks awesome! -

It would be awesome if a drive expansion bay enclosure could be made.....then we could have Atari 2600 cart slots on our computers!

OH MY GOD HOVER BOVVER! I love Hover Bovver.
Awesome choice of game, I'm sure it will be an absolute blast! Do you have to hold the disc down to move, so the mower accelerates, or will it be just single pushes? -
Mine was "squid". It's definitely a random phrase.
-
If you've got the money, an Atarimax Flashcart is absolutely awesome!
So many image files out there to be able to try before you buy on some of the carts, and even disk based games. It's so worth the cost!

I think we should let Sprybug answer this question, given that it's actually HIS game, yes?
-
My reaction was more toward the "debate" and less toward BrianC getting an answer. I think he's completely in the right to ask a simple question. As he states, a simple "yes or no" answer is really all it warrants.
Having said that, the only person who can actually answer your question is Sprybug, since it's his code and ultimately his decision to release it. My instinct states that it will not be released for digital download, but that's his prerogative.
-
How about let's just be excited that the game is being released, mmmmmkay?

Just asked the wife if she was interested since we'll be living much closer, and she's game, so it sounds like we'll be attending again!

Also Monkey Labs might be interested in sponsoring something; I'm currently in talks with web designers and artists to possibly make an actual business storefront out of it. Once I solidify plans I'll see what happens!

I'm selling some stuff right now (Commodore 128D, PCJr, etc., collection stuff I can't take with me on the move) and this may be a bit divided, but one thing I really hate is buyers who bid an item up just to see what other people's bids are, then cancel their bid to see what they should set a snipe at or what the item will go for. I think this is shady and unacceptable, and I have had 2 eBayers do that in my auctions -- when I see the notice of cancellation, I find out who the bidder was, then I block them from bidding on the item. I may not get that extra couple bucks out of the item, which is a shame, but if you cancel a bid, to me that means you're untrustworthy and I shouldn't let you buy my items!

I like all 3 but nostalgia is likely clouding my judgement (I owned all these new back in the 80's)
Did you have all three back in '89?
