Reare Earth Games elling Air Raid for $4,500

THANKS OBAMA -
This is very cool! Thank you so much for visiting our little corner of the internet and sharing your knowledge! I know that I speak for most of us when I say that if you were to make a new 2600 game, it would sell like hotcakes, at least in our little community of collectors. The volume may not be high but I'm sure 100 carts or so would easily be within the realm of reason. With so much new tech available, it would be really cool to see new "homebrew" games created by an original VCS programmer. That might not even make them homebrews....would it make them "semi-official" or something?

The secret of Men-A-Vision revealed!
Cebus Capucinis replied to Thomas Jentzsch's topic in Atari 2600
Wonder will deliver. This time of year is incredibly busy for him; he likely doesn't have time for anything, let alone AA he's probably working so hard. But I am sure he has some great info for us and once things slow down a bit (which should be soon), he will be back with a full report for us to drool over! -

Just remind yourself that Air Raid is nothing but a CHEAP HACK! -
I've decided that most of eBay is nothing but a den of liars, thieves, and jerks.

I never used eBay because my magical psychic powers always told me that was true. Or maybe it was just common sense.

Due to the move coming up, it's time to part with my SMS collection. I'm really sad to see it go, but certain sacrifices must be made. Everything starts at .99, no reserve, take a look at all my auctions to see what I've got. I've got 175 currently up. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fakirafan190%2Fm.html%3F_nkw%3D%26_armrs%3D1%26_from%3D%26_ipg%3D%26_trksid%3Dp3686 But of more important news to AtariAge collectors...... Exclusive CGE 2k10 only BLACK LABEL HALO 2600 cartridge with Marc O box! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 290917907985

They're probably the ones who bought that one Schizophretard's wife saw for $350, LOL. -
Precipitating my 1300 mile move in the next 2 weeks, I'm trying to offload some of the stuff I know I'll never really get around to using. These take up a ton of space and honestly don't really need to go with me! I'd like to sell as lots, but I understand some people might not want everything, so the monitors can be separated but the machines and flashcarts go together. Thanks! ITEM 1: Boxed Amiga 500 computer (with non-working floppy drive) with Amiga 520 display adapter, Amiga mouse (which sadly doesn't work), Commodore 1084S monitor, and HxC floppy emulator for multi-cart style usage. The machine is a bit yellowed but in good working condition, I just could never get the floppy drive adjusted for some reason. When the HxC floppy emulator came out, I had to have it, and hooked it up to the Miggy and it works absolutely great. I never really poked around in it but AFAIK it is a stock Amiga 500. Pics show it booting up a nice Amiga disk image to get to a cracked trainer screen. For additional info about the Lotharek HxC Floppy, check here: http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=13 I'd like to get $265 plus shipping for this lot. ITEM 2: Boxed Atari 130XE machine in good working condition with Amdek Color-I monitor and Atarimax USB Programmer and 8MBit Flashcart. The machine works great and I just fresh loaded the Pac-Man image on the machine to make sure the programmer and cart worked, no problems whatsoever! The monitor does have a sound issue in which it buzzes, but if you turn it up past a very low point (well below normal playing volume) it goes away entirely. I never really looked into it. The computer is stock. I'd like to get $265 plus shipping for this lot as well.

what atari 2600 homebrew should i buy?
Cebus Capucinis replied to ilovethevectrex's topic in Homebrew Discussion
If you're looking for original games, Toyshop Trouble, Oystron, and qB are incredibly good, with an additional mention on my part for Seaweed Assault -- it is very addictive! If you're looking for unique ports of other games, I would highly suggest either Ladybug, Juno First, or Medieval Mayhem. All have astounding graphics, great gampelay, and are absolutely some of the best quality homebrews out there. -

I think with the increase in tech, however, 3D printers will be able to not only come close but completely match original cart quality. IIRC the prototype shell Joe Grand made was several years ago, and the newer stuff being created on newer 3D printing solutions has been much closer to "perfect" in terms of a cart.I believe batari posted one of his creations a while back and, while not perfect, looked much improved. I think in the next 3-5 years we'll certainly see printers that are capable of producing near-perfect (or perfect) Atari 2600 cart shells for use in homebrews. I think it's just a matter of time, honestly. On the topic of systems: Aside from Atari-on-a-chip or other "emulation" style solutions, I don't think there will ever be a "real" new system made at all. The components, or their replacements, would be much too costly to reproduce, and there's no economic incentive for anyone to actually create something like that. Large amounts of hardware engineering and production for something that might sell 5,000 units on a good run just won't capture profitability in such a way that anyone would be interested in endeavoring in the work. I think we can realistically expect more Flashback-style systems, for sure, because these are relatively low-cost to produce so it counteracts low volume through a decent margin, but anything that we collectors would consider close to "the real thing" in terms of hardware would be completely non-feasible.

I think it's safe to say we have changed your name to Andrew "Delivers Results" Davie.
