  1. Corvettes don't hold gas well when the fuel filter falls apart. Gas is supposed to go in the carburetor, not spray all over the exterior of the engine.

  2. I don't always drink a ton of beer when I'm done with the worst week in two years, but when I do, oh wait, yes, I do always do that.

I closed the store tonight, too late for any good wine stores to be open. Had to deal with Kroger, which has shit wine selection. Dos XX for me.

  3. LOL, you do have a good point, I'm certainly the king of goof-posting, and fun is certainly a big part of what AtariAge is all about. I will admit wholeheartedly that it's perhaps a bit hypocritical on my part to lock threads simply because they're "goof posting". I guess the whole point of the conversation to be taken is that both sides of this argument aren't effectively seeing the other side of the story enough to come to an agreement. I certainly wasn't thinking about how users would perceive the locking of a thread, and how it could be seen as insulting or antagonistic on the part of the moderators. I know we mods get so concerned with the attitudes and actions of the users that we don't really think about how WE are perceived. Thanks for the feedback again, that certainly puts a bit more good perspective on it.
  4. I feel that these two replies warrant a response from me, so I'm going to post a response to them and then likely not participate in this thread anymore. There's a very big difference between what you two gentlemen just did and what warrants moderator intervention, in my opinion. You both respectfully stated your case, didn't antagonize, harass, or cajole, and pointed out some well-thought out things that make the discussion move further. I agree wholeheartedly that to stop something like that on the part of a moderator is against the point of a free and open community, and if that is the case, then I'd certainly agree the moderator is in the wrong. "Because I said so" is certainly not something that at least I personally strive for in my moderation, and I do formally apologize to anyone if they feel that perhaps I have been heavy-handed at times. In terms of both of your concerns, at least as far as I'm concerned, I don't think I've ever really had any sort of disagreement with either of you, and I certainly don't at this point in time. I don't know why either of you would honestly fear any sort of 'retribution' when you both are respectful and certainly contributing members to the site, and to be honest, I'm thankful that you both feel you can express that feedback in such a way that we can consider it on the level playing field you are mentioning. I'm sure you both saw my post earlier in response to SoulBlazer's well thought-out and reasoned feedback to the moderation in this instance. It honestly had never even occurred to me that in lacking communication in that way, things would ultimately only lead down a road of negativity. I know I personally have been thankful that it was pointed out, and certainly will attempt to follow through with the feedback in the future. Just remember, moderators are people too. We all have lives and jobs and it's also just a hobby for us. We make mistakes from time to time, and the nice thing about us is that we're all adults, and if we can certainly act as such, conversations such as this will end up with positive results. I'm not saying there isn't a line between "feedback" and "antagonism", for sure, but honestly, for me that's the exception to the rule, and I'll listen to just about anything anyone has to say about the site itself. Hopefully that clears things up a bit. Also, folks, please remember that what you see as a user is not necessarily indicative of the "whole story" when it comes to decisions a moderator makes. There may potentially be PMs, other threads, conversations with Albert and other mods, etc. that paint a much different picture than what you may be seeing as a user of the site. That can also cause some confusion and lack of understanding on the part of users, but honestly, you should never feel like if you have a question you can't ask.
  5. There you go, jetset -- it's back. Whatever makes you happy. I see a single swear word in that post, so I think saying it's "profanity-laced" is going a bit far there. No offense. However, since you were warned and specifically told that continuing would put you on mod preview, and still continue to argue, you are now on indefinite mod preview.
  6. I don't recall naming anyone. In fact, I specifically did NOT mention names to ANYONE. So, go ahead and threaten, but whether or not you choose to believe it, I've kept this civil and private whereas you have decided not to. Posting in a public thread viewable by every member of AtariAge is keeping it "private"? Huh? That logic makes no sense whatsoever.
  7. Understood and taken to note. I have to say I do agree that a simple post prior to locking would have alleviated the situation significantly, especially with users such as you, who simply posted in said threads maybe once or twice. It's always easier to explain immediately and make a decision than to have to back-pedal when questions are asked, albeit in a simple manner such as a thread like this one, and communication would certainly have helped the situation. We'll be a bit more informative in the future, and I honestly do thank you for that feedback and explanation, it makes more sense to me now.
  8. Guys, seriously? This is AtariAge, not "Twenty Seven pages of nothing but pictures of William Shatner-Age". Nor is it "Eighty-seven pages of basically only 4 people posting the same crap over and over-Age". I don't mean any offense, but this website isn't Facebook. It isn't Twitter, and it isn't 4chan or some other inane garbage. There does come a point when certain things go past the pale and turn into nonsense that really only takes up server space. One of the points of being moderators is to basically be janitors and clean up material that does exactly that -- uselessly utilizes bandwidth. We're pretty lenient about it, to be frank, and generally allow most everything to go unnoticed or unlocked. But certain threads get to the point where they're doing our community a disservice. I'm going to go off on my own whine here, and it's personal, not as a mod -- remember when we actually used to talk about Atari? Those days have been gone for a while, actually, and the website has frankly, in my opinion, started to get filled with junk threads. As a mod, 99.9% of the time I ignore them, as users have the right to post what they want provided it's within the guidelines of the AtariAge rules, but there does come a point when things start to go beyond the scope of "conversation" and into the realm of "waste of server space". That's why those threads got locked. I locked the others because as was brought to my attention, it's pointless to lock only one if the others remain. It was a measure to remain consistent, so I removed the other 2 or 3 threads that were basically the same thing, just with a different subject line. If the "avatar" thread needed to go, the "signature" thread needed to go too, because it was essentially the same thing, only not as large, and the "my new life" thread was seriously nothing more than 27 pages of William Shatner, so it falls under the same scrutiny. At least we're being consistent in it instead of picking on one single thread.
  9. The Atari 2600 was sadly only able to work with programs created on the Timex 1000. Really quite a shortsighted move on their part....
  10. I seen some great stuff for sale at the thrift stores today.

      HatefulGravey

Oh I see, a resale store, not a thrift store. Maybe people should stop giving them stuff and make them buy their stuff so they can re-sell it then.

They get a lot of their stuff from Target, so it's partially true. They do still accept donations ... not sure how that is RESALE and not THRIFT. Oh yeah, don't forget that they look up ebay starting bid prices for their "collectibles and video games". Like I said - Bastards.

I really hope you are joking. A boxed Air Raid isn't cheap, you would think the seller would know to ship something that sells that high better than that.

  13. I need to change the shipping address on mine, I think my old one is still on record from the order....
  14. I'm inventing time travel and going to the one 10 years ago. That one was much better.
  15. That's what I think for all you chumps that are just +1 post counting. I'm going to lock this shit.
  16. Wait, it's sealed? So I can't open it or it will plummet in value and cause the world Atari economy to collapse?
  17. @NE146 Absolutely correct! I agree!

  18. $15.01. You can just suck my balls with an offer like that. Wait a second, did I just solicit for sex? Does that make you a prostitute? Who is the 'John' here? Did you offer first, or did I? Are you a cop? If you are you have to tell me, because if you don't it's entrapment!
  19. Wait, your son's name is Gideon? For some reason you gave me the distinct impression his name was Ralph.
  20. Dear God. Seriously? You guys..... Suck my nuts!
