Swordquest by the Angry Video Game Nerd
WatchVenusSpa replied to BugsBunny2600's topic in Atari 2600
Here's a question for the group: Is there any footage of the Earthworld and Fireworld finals out there? That would be an epic set of vids to check out! -
Swordquest by the Angry Video Game Nerd
WatchVenusSpa replied to BugsBunny2600's topic in Atari 2600
IMO, this was James' best video ever. He doesn't really go very far into gaming history with the depth the subject deserves very often but this time he hit one out in a big way. There have been countless fans commenting that he needs to make a movie and if he ever does, the search for the final 3 prizes in Swordquest would be a great storyline. Epic video! -
My opinion as a coleco owner and homebrewer
WatchVenusSpa replied to newcoleco's topic in ColecoVision Programming
Hey Daniel, I wanted to chime in on the programmer/homebrewer discussion with some thoughts and questions. I was watching the Angry Video Game Nerd "DoubleVision" episode, (the 2 parter where he discussed the history of and the hardware of the Intellivision and the ColecoVision,) and mentioned that the ColecoVision system is actually compatable with Sega Genesis controllers. Have you and other programmers considered programming games with the Genesis controller in mind as opposed to the classic CV joystick? One would think you could really expand on what has already been great gameplay with a few minor adjustments to accomidate more sophisticated controllers. With emulators becoming so popular, what is your opinion on CV iPhone aps? That would be a great way to market retro games. -
I still remember the riot at Polo Park in Winnipeg. The Free Press headling read "RIOTS IN BABYLAND!" I needed 16 years of therapy to get over that one...

Is that your professional opinion? -
You guys really embraced us during the Atari Addiction arc and we wanted to thank you with a link in our new video. You guys are the greatest!!!

I for one would buy one just to have a system compatable with the classic games. The new stuff would be cool but just so long as they give me a similar feel as the classic CV and the games are fun ala the Wii.

Someone broke into my van
WatchVenusSpa replied to WatchVenusSpa's topic in Classic Console Discussion
3 games were stolen that were in the box, (the last games I played prior to boxing it up,) and they were Asteroids, Combat and E.T. -

It was probably a fat guy in a little coat... -
So some jerk broke into my vehicle and ransacked it and the only thing he stole was my Atari 2600. For those of you wondering why it was in there, I was in the process of moving and left some of my older stuff in the van overnight. (With the doors locked.) BIG mistake. Now I'm looking for another 2600 as well as another ColecoVision.

Most expensive NEW game in store

I paid $75 for Double Dragon for NES on release day in 1988. (There were a dozen or so kids camped out that morning for first dibs on this one.) -

Anyone play New Super Mario Bros. Wii yet?
WatchVenusSpa replied to jeremysart's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I find it humourous that the critics are complaining about the lack of online element to this game and had the chutspah to bitch about the 2-d sidescrolling. (Probably PS3 homers.) The bottom line is that this could be the game that brings the concept of sidescrolling platforms back. Just because the genre is older doesn't mean it doesn't still play. This game kicks ass and yet another reason why the Wii rules!
