Now you're talking my language. I LOVE each of the ones you listed and am proud to have nice copies of each in my collection. Voice of the Mummy is a toughie to get with working record player. Yeah, I had to buy 4 of them at between $100-200 each before I got one with a working player. I took all the best parts from the games to make one pristine set. It was later on that I found a guy online that does repairs http://voiceofthemummy.com/VoiceoftheMummy.aspx

Yeah, boardgameggek.com is about the best online resource for board games. I only collect old boardgames from the 60's, 70's and 80's that have either a mechanical or electronic component. Like Voice of the Mummy, Which Witch and Dark Tower.

Ok, I have incurred the wrath of Wife v1.0 with the extra Commodore 64 software I have piled about. Usually I keep my stuff in my Tardis (read: closet) but these are spares that I either don't want or I have too many of. I only collect cartridges for the C64 and sometimes I get big lots to get a single game the disk games just get stacked in Wife v1.0's way So I have the following to get rid of, taking any REASONABLE offers... CARTRIDGES (1) Avenger - Loose - Commodore (great) SOLD! (1) Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom - Loose - Sega (good) (1) Centipede - Loose - Atarisoft (great) (1) Centipede - Boxed - Atarisoft (fair) (1) Choplifter! - Loose - Broderbund (great) SOLD! Is there a secret to keeping Sodas
the-topdog replied to caver's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nope, that ruins the collectability. There are only 3 acceptable methods to preserve a can. In order of desirability they are... (1) Leaving the can intact with liquid still in it. (2) Cracking the seal on the pulltab ever so slightly and draining the liquid out. (3) Puncturing the bottom of the can to drain out the liquid. ...the three things that you do not do are... (1) Touching up the paint on a can (2) Patching tears or holes in the can (3) replacing the liquid in the can -

You WILL NOT be disappointed if you dabble in the glorious land of the C64. **looks around at everyone staring at me** Ummm... yeah... what I meant to say was that... ummm... I have no opinion on this. Yeah... that's the ticket! -
Interest Check: New Aquarius 32K RAM Modules
the-topdog replied to jaybird3rd's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Yikes, that one ended up going waaaaay over my price range: over $285 USD, including shipping! I don't think I've seen an Aquarius sell for that much before, especially a loose one. It must have been the fact that this is a PAL unit, combined with the 32K module. Ouch, that was pricey. It is likely due to the two reasons you mentioned, a perfect storm. I topped out at EUR 120.00 ($172.48 USD) soooo close... 32k Cartridge, you will be mine one day! *shakes fist to the heavens* -

I unfortunately seem to have some sort of mental disorder that compels me to collect anything I ever played with when I was a kid. So I have well over 100 computers/game consoles/electronic handhelds with thousands of games for them. But lately, to the horror of Wife v1.0, I have even started collecting systems that I didn't play with as a kid. I was strolling through the local Cmart store just last night (Shop smart, shop Cmart!), and he somehow convinced to collect the Intellivision library. I was holding off since I never played with one as a kid, but I started with he ECS and Intellivoice games, but am now compelled to get the original 125. -
Ummm... but what if you went out to get some corn and it is actually your doppleganger froggie sitting at the top of the screen? Doesn't that throw the whole balance of yin/yang into turmoil? Or does that punctuate the delusion that we can attain the maturity to accept ourselves and push forward to create a better world for all? Inquiring minds want to know!

It is a 76 page self published, print on demand book written by the same author as "Paper Mario". One of the many Wikipedia articles this author has converted to print. This one is all about the NES Advantage controller. Personally I can't see paying $1 a page for a bound article.

2600 Ms. Pac-Man Arcade hack almost ready!

Looks like a cool project. Can't wait till you are done with it. -
So in what ways would you like eBay to change their feedback system? There is no real arbitration for negatives, if someone wanted to destroy someones rep, they could singlehandedly do that. You could request mutual withdrawal of feedback, but good luck getting someone being unreasonable to do that. Now sellers cannot ever give a negative for a unruly buyer... Too often sellers hold feedback hostage. They refuse to leave feedback until you have left "positive" feedback... and about 30% of the time they don't return positive feedback anyway... I know the whole "It's voluntary" argument, but if they are begging you to leave feedback through the eBay messaging system, they had darn well better reciprocate. If they are going to leave feedback, sellers should leave it as soon as payment is made... the buyers job is done at that point... they paid for the item. The entirety of the rest of the deal rests solely on the seller. I have done somewhere around 800 transactions on eBay with my current account and have left feeback for each one, yet I have only received 600 feedbacks for those transactions. You can see that the seller has all the power even tho they can't leave negatives anymore. Now, this is the worst part of the feedback system there... since sellers cannot leave negatives anymore, EVERYONE who does not "sell" on eBay has 100% feedback score as long as they paid for each auction. Even if he is the customer from hell and tries to find ways to get bogus refunds or threaten negatives if he doesn't get discounts, he looks to be a perfectly upstanding buyer according to his feedback. There are NO checks and balances on the eBay feedback system. The only solution I would suggest is to allow ALL buyers and sellers both the ability to give negatives AND the capability adjust their negatives in the future. Some people have quick tempers or interpret messages incorrectly and assign a negative to "punish" the other party, but then the other party may explain themselves better and work out a solution to make everyone happy... but guess what, he is stuck with the negative if the other party doesn't agree to mutual removal. That is where feedback arbitration would be useful... a third party could arbitrate a discussion and determine if the negative will stay or not. The arbiters decision is final. But I'm sure there are dozens of other solutions that would be better than the broken system that is in place now. **looks around and notices I seem to be standing on a soapbox... steps off soapbox... looks around again and starts munching on my nummy sammich**

[AQUARIUS] Mattel Aquarius Multi-Cart
the-topdog replied to the-topdog's topic in Intellivision Programming
He's speaking here from experience, so I'd take him at his word. Now you know why I had to send him two prototypes. (Then again, I did ask him to test it thoroughly, so maybe I should have been more specific.) Oddly enough, they did survive being encased in orange jello tho. -

Psst! Aquaman... these cartridges don't work underwater... -
I use the exact same one for almost every auction. "Item arrived as described." unless a seller actually went out of their way to do something other than what they are expected to do... ship the item. Mostly because I hate the feedback structure of eBay but also partly because most (not all) sellers hold feedback hostage till you give them a positive. I think in the past 200 auctions I have left maybe 3 that said something else.

The Mother-In-Law Auction #2
the-topdog replied to The Mother-In-Law's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Sheesh... lay off everyone. Bob did nothing wrong... I was about to up his bids by $5 on 2 games myself but then saw the auction was cancelled. I can see why MIL cancelled because of the accusations that they were in cahoots with Bob somehow. I don't believe that for one second, I think Bob just really wanted the carts like I did. -
Just placed another order with edintv... this has to be like my 3rd or 4th. Always great service and great product! I can't wait for it to arrive!
