I finally got a battery, and only one of the loose Microvisions works perfectly with no screenrot (an fellow AA member has dibs on it). A second one may be ok but I have to check the contrast knob on the back (I didn't think of that when I first tested it and thought the screen was dead. The third one has tons of screenrot. I will inform the interested parties when I re-test the 2nd one.

Something that could bring down Gamestop
the-topdog replied to Rev's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Wow, that's just insane. They don't take your prints in Washington for an ID card, so I think I'll just stay here where I still have a couple of freedoms. As far as I am aware, the only states that require fingerprints to get a drivers license or ID card are California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas and West Virginia. I sure hope that no other states follow. -
I have just three words to say... Vectrex

I know a guy locally that can make one based off of mine for somewhere around $25-$30 (ouch)... it wouldn't be original, but it would work. PM me if you want me to ask him for you.

I have always been happy with my shipments from Venezuela! -
Some people are showing an interest so I will run out and buy a 9v battery in the next day or two to test the loose units to make sure the screens are ok.

Do Mods Take Value Away from a System?
the-topdog replied to Bartsfam's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
For my main collection, I have no modified systems, they are worthless to the collection. But I also have plenty of modded systems for the sole purpose of playing the hell out of them, not collecting. I would pay more more for an un-modded system in any case. -
One word... "OMG Vectrex is cool!"

Can anyone absolutely verify this? Is there a work around? It is true. I would not use Genesis controllers on the C64 unless you wish to burn out your CIA chip. It isn't a given that it will happen, but there is a huge strain on the chip when keyboard and joystick are in use concurrently, which has a good chance of frying the chip.

I have a couple NIB and a couple CIB Microvisions and all 11 games NIB and a few CIB. I have three loose units that I have not tested, the screens may be good on them... if they are I'd sell em for $8 each + shipping if anyone wants me to test them. The Microvision was my first handheld electronic game. I saved for quite some time to get one back in 1979. 9v batteries were expensive and they only last about an hour in a Microvision, so I charged the neighborhood kids between 25-50 cents to play with it.

I have four (two CIB) and a spare parts unit to keep mine running. It is my hands down all time favorite computer in the history of the seven known universes! A self contained portable color Commodore 64! When I am running it at home I hook it up to my big-screen TV(since it ies easier to see than the 5") but on the road at parties, vintage tech conventions and friends houses I use the little built in 5" color monitor. It is the ultimate gaming machine and by hooking up a 1541 external drive to it, you can duplicate disks for your buddies straight from the built in disk drive (no more swapping read and write disks 32 zillion times to copy). I have a trillion or so (ok fine, about 25) extra C64 game cartridges, and a few disk based games, I can let go for cheap (or trade for) so you can have fun with your SX-64. I even ran a BBS off of one of mine. My brother still has the original one we bought back in the 80's. You will not be disappointed with that little (big) gem!
