One of my brother's friends had an Intellivision w/ECS back in the day, and he was proud of the letters he would write to his grandmother and print them out on the tiny thermal paper from his little printer. So that would point to the fact that either there was a word processor for the Intellivision or someone did indeed write a simple word processor in BASIC as you surmised. Of course, we just kind of rolled our eyes at him since we used our Commodore 64 with a full carriage dot matrix printer to print full size, multi-page letters complete with graphics

The dividing point between functional and non functional computers is the ability to save and retrieve programs. So any system that had a tape drive or disk drive was a functional computer. There is nothing more satisfying than loading a program that you wrote off of a cassette then typing "run" and watching the magic happen... on the flip-side, there is nothing more frustrating than not having the ability to save your program to tape or disk, and knowing all of your work will be lost the moment you turn of the machine. As for viability, remember that in that era, there were computers with 2k or less of user accessible memory (such as the Aquarius and the TS1000), so in my humble opinion, YES it does qualify.

Cebus Capucinis' Collection
the-topdog replied to Cebus Capucinis's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
What was that? You are going to store all three of your arcade cabinets at my place? Of course you can! -
Let me get some batteries in it and test. It has been years since I last had it out. The audio was loud and clear... but the capacitors have aged since then so I want test to be sure before I say that.

I recently obtained the previously unknown Aquarius games, Strike Force and Space Collision on tape. These games were written by D. A. Spencer... some of his games were listed in the Aquarius User Magazines, but these were not on any list anyone in the Aquarius community has found as of yet. I am going to attempt to create WAV files out of the tapes and load them into the Aquarius emulator to dump the BIN files for the Aquarius community. This coupled with JayBird3rd's new multicart and reproduction cart technology, has exciting possibilities!

AtariAge Welcomes Ted Dabney!

***hands Ted a quarter for one play*** -
That was the beauty of the TurboExpress and the PC Engine GT portables... the capability to play the exact same games as the console. I have two CIB TurboExpress portables in my collection, one for preservation and one to play the hell out of my TurboGrafx 16 games I don't however need two PC Engine GT systems... thus this for sale thread.

Ok, the search is back on, I haven't heard from Eric in a month, I hope he is ok. But I am in desperate need of the backshell for a Vectrex, so if anyone has a broken Vectrex they could sell me the shell from, I would be grateful.

FS: Monkey Labs Atari Lampshades!

Is it just me or does this topic seem a little shady? *crickets chirping* Once I free up some fundage I think I may partake of a monkey-shade myself... great work Cebus! -

I was going trough a few big boxes in my collection and stumbled upon a 2nd boxed PC Engine GT portable handheld. It is the Japanese version of the Turbografx TurboExpress handheld. It plays all of the Japanese HU card games made for the TurboGrafx 16. Since I don't need a spare, I though I would post it here for $190 $175 delivered. If you are interested in this awesome little machine, just let me know.

Aquarius Graphics Editor and "SuperFont" Upgrade Idea
the-topdog replied to jaybird3rd's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Great googly-moogly! Jay, you are single handedly revolutionizing the Aquarius platform into a new viable homebrew paradise. I know that not a lot of people have adopted an Aquarius because of the limitations, but with the character rom upgrade and the ability to create homebrew carts on the horizon because of your multi-cart project, I can see a ton of people jumping on board. It will be cool to see the Aquarius getting a little respect! -

SOLD! -
After crawling through my mountain of boxes in search of more Mattel Aquarius cartridges for the multi-cart project... I stumbled upon yet another loose Mattel Aquarius computer last night. Tested and working. Asking $25 plus shipping. I may even have two of them, as I pulled down a familiar looking box from the top shelf just before I went to work this morning.

I have a spare loose Telstar Arcade game cartridge #3 in all of it's triangular sparkly glory (hmmm it may be a Twilight vampire). If you are interested just PM me offers. Thanks!
