  1. What he is saying that any combination of three things will add up to the sum total of the discount minus the asking price when doubled... thereby allowing five times the realized value when multiplying along the vector of the gross profit when divided by pi. DUH! :P

  2. I stumbled into a lucky find on eBay this weekend... a guy listed an Aquarius User's Club Magazine #1 on eBay for a steal of a buy it now of $49 (I snapped it up within about an hour of him listing it)... #1 usually sells for around $250-300 because they are next to impossible to find. #2-4 usually go for around $100.

So now the fun waiting game for it to show up :D:)

I like it when I get lucky like this since it rarely happens to me. :P

  3. Back in the 80's my younger brother would play on the Asteroids machine at a local pizza parlor for hours on a quarter... he would rack up a ton of free ships then leave the machine to hit the restroom or get a drink and would be back before the last ship was dead and continue on. I don't ever remember him finishing a game, we had to be home before our father got home at 5:30 for dinner each night.

I have often been curious to know just how long he could have played the game if he didn't have to leave. He was also just as good on Robotron.

  4. Well, I was proud of my Vectrex with one controller, SK multicart, Original Protector Collectors edition, Tsunami, and 3D (LCD, not the original imager) glasses.

At least I was until I read this thread...

I will hang my unworthy head in shame now...

Why do I even bother? I am unworthy, shamed, and useless.... What is the point in it all?

Oh the humanity...

    <looks at Vectrex on shelf>

Oh, wait, I'm still proud of that. Never mind... :P

p.s. Great collections, thanx for sharing!

Nuttin wrong with that collection, sounds like you got some great homebrew stuff!

  5. I know it's a Vectrex topic but thank you for posting the ArcadeTime watch. I remember have a game watch as a kid and I couldn't remember what it was called. I now know it was called GameTime (my bother had the ArcadeTime watch). I wish I still had it.

GCE made three game watches that some people call Vectrex Watches... they were ArcadeTime, GameTime and SportTime. They are awesome.

  6. Hmmm, missed this thread originally. I think some people who know me know that I probably have a Vectrex collection second only to Chris Romero. The only thing I lack is Mr Boston, and I've got plenty on the shelves to cover for it. Complete US set? Check. Complete Europe set? Check. Complete Japan set? Check. Prototypes and betas? Check. Every homebrew every released? Check. One of a kinds? Check. And much more :P

Sweet! What are your favorite pieces? Do you have any cool pics to show?

  7. Sorry to go against the tide here, but I actually see the logic in getting NIB titles. I myself am both a collector AND a gamer. I have CIB carts and loose carts to play the hell out of, but whenever I can, I obtain a 2nd copy NIB.

It is a historic preservation thing on my part. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, these games are something that are dear to my heart and to have a pristine example of what made those years magical to me is priceless... especially when I can play the games with my kids and then show them a sealed copy in our "hall of records" of the games we had just played.

So in my opinion, as long as you aren't just obtaining the NIB games for momentary gain, I applaud you.

  8. Another fun artifact in my Vectrex collection is my factory sealed LightPen. Unfortunately the shrink-wrap is starting to crush the box... Is there a way to fix this or is that just how it is with shrink wrap? I also have one of Chuck's homebrew light pens that I use on all of my LightPen games since I don't want to open the sealed unit.

  10. I'm asking this because some Turbo-Grafx games don't have them, but is there a list of games that DO have them, and excludes all the ones that don't? I really am interested in collecting games for this system, but I'd like to do ones with jewel cases only.

Wow really? Just the games with jewel cases? You will be missing out on some of the greatest TG16 games then... such as Air Zonk, which is one of the funnest games ever for the TurboGrafx 16. :P

  11. Very nice collection. Dammit. I need that 3d Imager box. I have the Cart goggles and instructions. It is all I need to have everyThing American CIB , Except Mind Minestorm 2 and Mr Boston. I don't count those. :P

I finally got a boxed 3D Imager a couple moths ago from a fellow AtariAger and that made me soooo happy and completed my collection. Then I sold my loose imager to another AtariAger.

But like you I still need Minestorm II and Mr Boston... but I do not count those as original releases. One was promotional and one was a bug fix.
