  1. Here's a full playthrough + commentary of DOOM for the Jaguar:

Really good. Still, I usually go with the IBM compatible version because of the PS/2 mouse support. I can't live without that now. I'm spoiled!

Oh yeah, PC DOOM is by far my preferred version to play. Keyboard + Mouse support and a silky smooth framerate. I still enjoy playing through the varying console versions too though. :)

  2. Wants a PC Engine CD attachment.

""I love this game and place it alongside the original Legendary Axe...and Dracula X. You can tell the folks at Icom put their hearts into this one...The graphics are clean and detailed, the music is catchy and each main character is voice acted quite well... Adding to this is some wonderful parallax scrolling that many of the system’s side-scrollers lacked...you’ll have a great time old-school style." Bravo, CPUWIZ! http://www.pcengine.co.uk/HTML_Games/Shapeshif...

Dracula X is what everyone will say to go for, yeah. And Shapeshifter is a pretty darn fun game, good job on it CPU.

I thought about adding an option like that, but I decided it would be better to have a more grounded/serious topic discussion. ;)

  5. Is there a single thread that lists freely/publicly available homebrews (ones that authors purposely made free)? Finally trying the Harmony cart and would like to try as many homebrews as I can.

can't find it right now, but search for user theloon 's stuff. He's got a thread started that has a bunch of his home-brews and demos ready for download

Cool, thanks! I caught one of his more recent ones posted a couple of weeks ago. I'll have to search for the rest.

Great song? Sounds like a fat demon taking a shit on a Casio keyboard.

  11. For those that haven't played Super Mario Maker, I've got to say, it's pretty damn addictive. Here's a level I tossed together on stream the other night. It took me about 90 minutes to make. I thought it would be fun to make a time-lapse video of the process:

Coolio Austin, I don't have a WiiU but I've no doubt if I did I would be all over this, Nintendo is pretty good for titles to allow you to use ones creativity.

^^^^^ Rob, I have to say. The Wii U is actually great. I doubted it at first and decided to pick it up earlier this year. I showed no buyer's remorse and it won me over. The NES Remix game is awesome!! Lots of old classic titles in a mini game style challenge, Mario U and Luigi U are awesome, DKC Tropical Freeze, plus the game taking waaaaaaaaaaay too much of my time. Super Mario Maker. It is worth owning! :)

@Retrogamer81081 I hear ya and no doubt but currently even if I did really really want one I currently am not in a position to get one. Who knows maybe when it is yet another retro console lol.

  12. Streaming some Wii U once more on Twitch, now with OBS MP! http://www.twitch.tv/amackert

  13. Recording with Kris last night was great! Those that followed the old podcast, you will really, really enjoy this one. Expect it in October!

  14. Needs more Atati.

  15. Went to pick up a free TV on Saturday. It turns out it's a widescreen Sony WEGA, and a HD CRT to boot! Composite, S-Video, Component, and HDMI--the works! Picture looks phenomenal, even just via composite.

I sort of understand why people can't give them away now. These suckers are heavy. Even with a second person it was work pulling it up my stairs, and lifting it from the ground onto a table was challenging. Modern TVs are just so much easier in comparison.

the hs420 has the Hi-Scan tube with 853 line horizontal resolution. the XS955 and xbr960 have the Super Fine Pitch tube with 1440 line horizontal resolution. It's still a good TV with way better blacks then a LCD

I had to adjust the settings to get the blacks to actually be black, but you are right, the blacks are definitely nice once it's tweaked (the previous owner had the picture adjusted to where blacks looked very, very grey).

  16. The last part of my SNES DOOM let's play series is up! Inferno, run through on the Nightmare difficulty setting. Enjoy!

  17. I am streaming Future Spa on Twitch right now! I'll leave the stream running throughout the night as long as people are here, so check in for some gameplay throughout the night. http://www.twitch.tv/akmpinball

  18. Here's a variety of Battletoads gameplay clips from the Sega Genesis. Have no time to watch a longplay of the game? Check out these condensed clips to see far into the game.

  19. ReplayFX in Pittsburgh, PA has been pretty awesome so far. Except for the doofus trying to sell 2600 commons for $5 a pop.

  20. Here's the NES and Genesis versions of Battletoads side by side (full runs):
