I need some advice on what to do with an Atari 2600 I just picked up. It is a really nice 6-switch system -- very clean, sharp orange trim, good switches, etc --- actaully looks like it was used very little. Anyway - at the very end of the RF cable (about 1/2 inch from the actual plug) there is a crack that goes about 50 to 60% around the cable - a tiny amount of wire can be seen poking through. What should I do about it ? I'm not sure if I should leave it alone, tape it up, or try to replace the cable or even just clip it and reattach the plug. Any solutions ? Thanks in advance. Matt

Thanks for all the advice. Although now I want more than one console ! For sentimental reasons I've got to get a 6 or 4 switch - it wouldn't feel right playing the games on anything else. I never had looked at the 7800 until today - I like what I saw but noticed that Robot Tank had compatability problems and that is one of my favs. So I guess I'll just have to get both Do the older Atari 2600's have any problems with the newer games (and what is new ??- I noticed that folks have released games recently). I noticed a post above recommending the all black 2600 - I didn't realize they changed the cartridge size. I have another question - where is the best place to go to find a reliable system ? Ebay ?, Online sellers like Best Electronics or 4 Jays, or searching locally. If any one knows a good reseller please pass it on to me. Thanks again for the advice.

I need some help - I figured this was the place to ask. I've been bitten by the Atari bug. It happened after a friend of mine and I were gaming on my old Commodore 64, we started talking about the old Atari games and since then I've been surfing ebay and else where looking for a system. My question is - what sould I get ? I know it will come down to preference but I want to hear other peoples opinions. Is the Heavy Sixer - the thing to have - was it so much better constructed to hold out buying one. Is the Six switch better than the 4 ? Let me know what you folks think and if there are any things I should avoid. Thanks.
