  1. This happened to me a couple of days ago. I used the "pay with PayPal now" link that comes in a seller's e-mail. When I tried to click through, I got an error message stating that "this buy requires a confirmed address." Huh? I've been confirmed for a while, at least that's what I thought. What I had to do was click on the "change address" link, and choose from THREE IDENTICAL ADDRESSES the one that said "confirmed" next to it.

    Weird.

  2. He sounds like he is legit. He said he had never heard of the second chance offer and that he would look it up. He got back to me to say that he looked through ebay's services and didn't see a second chance option. He offered to list it as a BIN for the $80 and I could buy it that way.

I'm just not sure what to do ... :ponder:

  3. I was the second highest bidder on a recent auction. Today I recieve an e-mail stating such and that the item was still available -- because the winning bidder backed out. My bid -- $80.

My question is, are there any known scams like this? Should I ignore the e-mail? Is this practice condoned by e-bay?

    Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?

    Thanks!

  5. I have a PB Spider-Man. Box and cart look like the standard Parker Brothers Spider-Man shown here on AA, but with a 'P' sticker on the back of the box and 'P' printed on the label of the cart?? Anyone know what the 'P' means? I thought PAL, but it plays on my TV -- in color. I'm not real familiar with PAL format other than what I have read. I was under the impression that if a cart is PAL it would play on a U.S. TV, but only in black and white.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  6. I was just going through my carts when I noticed something that seemed a bit odd to me. I didn't see any other posts about it, so maybe it is just that I am a newbie; but I just need to ask. I have a Code Breaker cart. At first it appeared to be an Atari Picture label. A closer look and there was a perfectly cut black strip on the front label. I checked the cart scan here on AA to see if this was "normal" by any chance, where I discovered that the thin black strip is applied over the "use with keyboard controllers." I then noticed that the picture on the label is inverted from the AA scan -- the shadowy figure in the hat is facing right not left as on the AA scan; the man with binoculars is on the right and looking left, which is also opposite of the AA scan. My Code Breaker also has a copyright of 1986, as opposed to the AA scanned version's copyright of 1978.

Anyways, this really intrigues me. Anyone have a Code Breaker like this? Why the black strip? Previous owner's handy work? Any info? Comments?

    Thanks!

  7. I have been collecting Atari stuff for just over a year now. It is time to get serious about keeping track of what games I have and don't have. But, each time I sit down with a print-out of the rarity guide, a pen and paper, I get un-motivated -- I'm just not a hardcopy kind of guy.

Anyone have or know of any "utilities" (that may not be the best word) that can help a collector keep track of their collection?

It doesn't have to be fancy, just something electronic, preferably with a list of games and the different label variations, where I would just check off what I have. I have seen a few of the online trackers, and that is not really something I am interested in. I was thinking more of something that I would keep on my PC.

Am I making any sense? :ponder:

  8. You know ... I just saw that myself and was wondering the same thing. Am I missing something? Maybe they think think they are after the rarity-5 version, but naaahhhh, can't be. I'm gonna go check and see how many of those I have, maybe sell one to the looser(s). ;)

  9. I got my Pitfall II when a lady where I worked replied to an ad I placed in our comapany's classified ads. She gave me a working 2600 Jr. with 20 games -- which included the Pitfall II. I was thrilled, because at the time it was on my 'want list' and I was ready to pay too. ;-) And, all the games had their instructions. The best part ... FREE!!

She even through in a PSOne with two games. What a deal!!
