    Mine did this after the contacts wore out on the cart input. Soldering on a replacement fixed the issue. I didn't know the power switch could be a cause as well.

      I beat the game, but it's a pain in the ass. This is one of those games that should've had continues (reset the score to 0, but at least have continues).
