  1. See, I guess I am a little odd, in that I very rarely buy specifics online unless I absolutely want them bad (Galaxian, Space War, Stargate and a few others, ET being my first, before I ever thought I would actually get a VCS) but in general I DO look for lots with games I want: in fact, that is all I have purchased: ones that have at least a FEW games I do want. I am also VERY cramped for space. Since I collect records as well, I naturally have shelves and boxes all over with vinyl on them, and now things are getting cluttered with Atari carts: not to mention all the boxes I keep around for future storage. Systems piling up will be crazy: heck, people at work who I tell this to understand my price logic, but still say I am crazy. That is a good point you make, CebusCapucinis. I don't mind getting many commons I already have if it gets me that nice copy of Kaboom, or whatever. It does make sense though, considering people are less likely to buy system after system, that the prices of game+system lots are cheaper than game only lots, in one way of thinking, but it still strange when you do the per game costs how high some lots can get. ...ya know, that first lot I got from the local place had 3 copies of Pac-Man in it. These games were all from one "old man" so I was told. How does that kinda stuff happen? lol.
  2. (Do forgive me if this would be better suited to the marketplace, but as it is directed more towards just this trend in relation to the 2600 rather than anything directly sale related) Has anyone else here noticed the going rates for bulk atari lots these days? I have seen sets of about 40 games go for anywhere from $60 to $120 (nothing too rare in those, by the way), but at the same time, seen systems + 30 or 40 games go for only 75 or so (purchased these on several occasions now, which I will talk about shortly). When you do the math on it, you end up with maybe 3 or 4 dollars a game, plush shipping on the game-only lots, VS only maybe a buck per game, if you take the system as costing about 20-30 bucks out of whatever price you pay: You end up with another console, odds are a batch of controllers, hookups, etc, as well as said games. Sure, it's always got a good stash of rarity 1 or 2 in there, but I have easily ended up with rarity 4 games for dirt cheap this way, in my short month or 2 of collecting. Let's look at that, by the way: Got my first lot of games from a local buy sell trade place for 25 in total: had to get a coax adapter and 2 controllers for my new 4 switcher, but that was a separate purchase, along with my first 5 games. same place, different time). They offered me a nice rate to just clear out the rest of the games, since NO ONE was interested in them. Then came my purchase a few weeks ago of a heavy sixer, about 40 games (mostly new ones to me, but alot of them are very near dead. ) and some controllers and such for about 90, including shipping. Another stash of games are coming (about 40 again) along with a woody and controllers, hookups, etc, for about 75 with shipping. And just now, I bought 3 systems (sears video arcade light 6, another heavy sixer vcs, and a vader) with a ton of controllers, and 70 or so games (still more repeats, but plenty of new stuff) for 113 with shipping. Sure, this method will leave you will a ton of consoles lying around, but what do you guys think? How is it that a stash of 40-50 games can go buy it now for 70 bucks, or bids go up to 120 easily, wheras I can rack up some nice games I like, and whole systems, for 80 easily? I know a good bit of it could be considered good old ebay insanity, but really, can anyone with more wisdom apply it to this, or are people just that crazy to get another copy of Pitfall? I mean, it's not like each of those lots has a Waterworld just hanging around in there. At least, I hope not. So, thoughts?
  3. Hi guys, first post. I got a heavy sixer on ebay the other week (pricy, but worth it to me). Here's its serial: 40334H Had the Gray power supply, original paddle controllers, and 2 original spring loaded CX-40's. BTW, it lacks a channel selector, and is NTSC (not that that actually matters / exists within the 2600 world beyond the games? I just see people in this thread mentioning it so I thought I would throw it in.)
