  1. Gyruss should have used the Driving Controller. Now THAT would be awesome. Not quite like the original AC game, but it would have been incredible to have that as an option. Then again, in ALL of these cases, the problem comes in that the paddles and driving units take more processor time to check, relying on that capacitance discharge, IIRC, so some of these games might not have been possible to do given the VCS hardware design. Now, let's say a new version is made for the 7800... I am pretty sure there HAS to be a way to get the paddles to work on when MARIA is active.. but I am not a top tech expert on the machine by any detail, and it may require the TIA to be accessed in a way that MARIA does not allow, and thus ruin the entire idea. As for modding a game, I would say it COULD be possible, but I would think a major re-write would be in order, presuming the game can even run on the VCS with that much system usage. :/
  2. I have always thought the name was intentional, and never believed any of those stories about it originally being "Monkey Kong" for, well, the very reasons listed on the page: It would be just too convenient for it to have been one thing, then changed to that via whatever method. In any case, it is still fun to occasionally scream out "Monkey Kong" in an odd voice at appropriate times.
  3. Nothing new!You have to educate those Radio Shack Clerks about everything.I don't mean to sound like I'm prejudiced, but its the god honest truth.Whenever i go in there to ask about something,9 out of 10 times they don't have a clue what I'm talking about and i ask about the simplest things that that ANYONE should know about ESPECIALLY if you work in an electronics store. It just blows me away,it really does. Cell Phone Shack ticks me off to no end with this crap. All you will get is someone who knows nothing spouting out what they are TOLD to say about something.. if what you ask is not quiet in the scope of their brainwashing, they fry out and have to be replaced. Target is the same way... but that is another story..
  4. Ok, so to order one I would use said page? Sent an email, but I can imagine with all this stuff going on and the time since the "preorders" were done, it's pretty much a moot point. XD
  5. Ya know, I find it funny how many other people here like Fast Food. I always got the feeling the game was disliked. Not as hated as Coco Nuts, but still bad.
  6. Bobby is Going Home happens to be a major joke between me and my friend Stephen. "Bobby.. he ain't makin' it home" due to how batcrap crazy the enemy patterns are when yo first play. Yeah, I finally completed a level of it.. so now we joke "uh oh, bobby made it home!" but yeah.. I played it on original hardware for the first time a few weeks ago due to the game working perfectly on a Supercharger. Loaded the NTSC rom and off I was! What a fun minute~!
  7. You know, what annoys me in general on ePay is when someone always adds "bid with confidence"... even moreso when it is on a BIN listing. Hmn, I should make a $0.02 offer with the comment "Eh, just my 2 cents." Seriously though, what do you guys think this is worth in reality?
  8. Will the truck have started to move? Hopefully you will be able to not feel asleep working those long hours.
  9. I have to say, as much as I love fast food, if you find it an easier game to gut, then go for it. If Cosmic Creeps can be saved in as close to perfect condition as possible, then go for that one. Tis a hard call, but honestly, I really would go with Fast Food...
  10. To add to this, the shield and computer are always on depending on your difficulty switch config (b is always on, A is manually on or off) so I have found it good to just switch between difficulty A and B instead of the touch pad.
  11. FTR, I use some 2000 grit on my contacts. Takes more effort, but I have higher success with it.
  12. Send the defective ones to south america.. that is just downright mean! Yeah, I would say it might have been something subtle to get back at them for all the pirates: even that late in the game, it seems the people in Atari all had clever ideas about them.

    Any Idea?

Ya know, I have 2 of those weird joystick controllers, and I hate them. Maybe its just cuz they don't work too well on my H6er, but to hell with those controllers! ...Actually, nah, I should try them out with my jr sometime.
  14. Hey, as long as they save the game boards, all is not lost! One day soon some company will begin making replacement cases in major bulk, for all manor of systems.
  15. How are you going to type your name in for the high scores? T.T Also, that video is on a channel relating to DDR in France? Man, how many step rhythme game players also happen to be pre-NES retro gamers?
  16. Due to my mother "borrowing" money from me on several occasions, I have been hit with $35 OD charges for, get this, 1.09 charges at Mcdonalds and the like. In fact, I have actually acquired over 100 dollars in OD's because of my normal lunch, after all her random "oh help me out with this" all cleared. Yes, it was errors on my own accounting part, but until such money is taken, I am always fine and breaking even by the end of the day. :/ I feel for you, and hope this can get taken care of. Maybe I should call Regions and get that OD protection crap taken off... its not protection, its strate up BS. declining a charge should be the DEFAULT, not the hard-to-get side option.
  17. I look at it as simply a place to point out things you find in the wild. see something you already own, but know others may want? link the auction. know a guy selling some nice things, but who still wants to put them on ebay? link away and maybe someone other than Dick will buy it. find something just random interesting out there (lets say, a pac man drinking glass?). fire away. Just my general take on the best use of the auction subforum. I have no problems with it, but I would also think AA members would try to sell directly to eachother rather than epay in and of itself. Like, lets say you put up something, then when no one bites, you set it up on ebay. Go on and link that auction, then let things happen. It already had a fair run on the normal market, if someone wants it now, they will have to compete with the mass market.
  18. As I mentioned to Cebus in PM, I just recently lost a cat I got from a close friend. She stayed in my room all the time, so she was always around me, and always my buddy. She started acting a little odd, but I just figured she was being herself, but then, went missing for 2 days. I found her dead in the corner of my room... Having to tell Monica was one of the worst things ever, and I am amazed at the connection I had with a cat I only had about 2 months at that time... I still have my original cat, Semper... he is about 12 or 13 easily, and I have only had him a year and a half, but when he goes... :/ Of course I have gotten used to this sort of thing: all the dogs we had while I was a child have died, and we lacked the money to help most of them.. Heck, one died while I was in Texas. You can imagine how much that sucked... ..Bah I am just rambling on now. My bid stays up for the bills and whatever else it can help with.
  19. A bird that lives longer than a human... And from what I see, certainly must be smarter than nearly everyone I deal with on a daily basis. Cebus my man, PM sent.
  20. 1: Is there any probability logic for the location of the Phone Home Zone, or do you think it is purely random? 2: not so much a question, but a thought: people should REALLY be told NOT to move in a pit unless they need to: it annoys me to no end when people will walk to the edge of a pit, THEN float up and leave. You don't need to move, as you always pop back up in the center of the pit. Only move to get the pieces, but not to get out, if that makes sense.. unless you need to move away from the flower to get out, which you do. 3: I need to stop calling them pits, I know they are wells, but I guess their shape is very pit-ish. Ok, that one was not a question or request... Ya know, I just realized none of these ideas are video related, cept maybe the well-exit issue.. you could show that moving inside the well has no effect to your exit position on the world map. Uh, snap, you know I like the game, so, I will have to really play more hardcore and see what I have trouble with. I'll get back to you on it.
  21. I think you and I are thinking the same thing..
  22. You know, this was all the topic of a thread I started a while back: "How long do you think a machine will last?" I think was the title. Also, talking about people and their interest, would those of you who are 40 or so now think that, after the NES came around, kids being born at that time would go back to these old machines and take interest? I sure as heck did, and from what I see here, I am not the only person born post-crash to do so. I'm not saying there will be a massive resurgence, but what I am saying is, demand for the collecting as a whole will always stay around, as will all the demand to keep up with these old machines. Now, speaking in general, that "Analog Hole" people speak of, odds are the generation born in the 2000's are the ones who will finally let that be plugged up: they are the ones now who's firs systems are PS3's and 360's, so they are the ones who most likely will not look back to pre-HD games untill it is too late. Until that time, I am sure my generation, and more, will be working around that problem as best we can, until finally, the universe just moves on. Of course, more than likely, some company at some point will get smart and produce a game-monitor type TV that has all kinds of inputs, and is designed around the various standard reslutions of the gaming eras, and works with all these old systems (would have Coax inputs, direct ones no less, so you could plug SEVERAL 2600's and the like into the back, and use a swapping feature to play between them). It would keep standard definition a priority for what basically amounts to all the 20th century hardware any collector would have. Add in enough composite inputs and the like for all kinds of other systems, and SOMEHOW create some mode that COULD allow classic light guns to work, and there we go. something crazy like that has been a dream of mine for a while now, and there has to be SOMEONE out there who is in a position and would care enough to do this.
  23. Here's something constructive and positive: I wish you the best of luck on your $999 Vectrex auction. Well, that made my morning. +1
  24. So. what you are asking for basically is Haunted House? Hmn.. That would make a nice hack. ^_^
