Yet another awesome transaction for a Sears Video Arcade II, with the controllers! Threw in a few games, and a cx-40. Always doing that one thing more to make a person smile.

I VAGUELY think I can recall seeing something like that: I can recall some kind of crap situation, and his meatwad pic.. Again, I am not posting this to force any negativity out there, or accuse anything, just as a topic of discussion: since someone else guess exactly who it was, I decided to go public, as advised, just to see what the story was from everyone here.

Thick bottom case molding, which is curver rather than angled, and which looks nothing like the bottom case on later 4 switchers: a light 6er has the normal angled bottom casing. The whole front really appears curved some, and of course the unit is heavier than you would expect from an Atari: we are talking maybe a pound or 2 more than most other units. Actualy, there is a pic on the heavy sixer serail # thread... in the first post. They are EASY to spot once you know what to look for, which really shouldn't be that hard to notice anyway, since the unit will look a little odd compared to all later models. hehe. Odds are it is a light sixer, since it is from Taiwan, but if it isn't, then hooray. ...I'm still wondering what is up with old Fuzzy sitting here in my lap: I checked on it, and that unit was dated Nov 22, 1980. Why in the heck was a heavy sixer checked that late....

Have Yourself a MILFy little Christmas...

Ok, for the record, I am not at all offended. Just simply surprised. Literally, something crazy like this is not something I would ever expect here: I mean, AA has been the most stable, normal place I have been online in forever, too seemingly mellow and focused for something like this to occur, but sure enough, as I am learning, there are a few people here who know how to make things interesting, and this just happened to be so random I had to express just how random it seemed to me, a rather new member. While I think the package is unique and generally awesome, I do lack interest, I think due to the game itself not being one I care for: certainly not because I am one of "those types" (Far from it ^^; ). I don't think the idea is bad, or perverted beyond the theme of the original game anyway, and considering what I have gathered of Chicky's personality, this kind of thing would seem perfectly normal, which is actually pretty cool overall, if you ask me. Helps make this place unique, when we have actual decent adults with a crazy side rather than the normal flood of 13 year olds >.< So, don't go accusing me of being offended or something just because of one vague post. I would think more people would have gotten my shock at randomness rather than thinking I was offended, but eh... That's it. Just random and unexpected, but nothing outright offensive or stupid to me. -
So, from the evidence we are left with still 2 possibilities: He is up and running with everything, or... He is ending selling and everything, and just has been terrible at communication in an effort to just get everything out the door. So much of a contrast between previous sales, and now, it really is just confusing... This is 4 people who over the past month are lacking purchased items, whereas in the previous time, things have been fine. It's almost as if it is not the same person... <insert crazy theory here>

Hmn, I could certainly use some of those. Why, oh why, in between pay periods?!?
-
I agree: in a simple summary, communication of ANY situation is key. I recall in August I had to let an ebay member know I lacked the funds to pay for an auction I had won: I wanted the poster, but it would take about a week for me to fork over the money. He was understanding, and once I did, he shipped out quickly enough, which was fair for me: why should he rush when I asked for an extra week to pay, right? lol. I have sent a message, quite a few days ago, and am waiting. He has not read the conversation since the 25th. Understandable if he was waiting till around the 3rd or so to ship the stuff: considering how packages have been for me recently, it actually COULD be taking 2 weeks to get here from Florida, but the point remains that I would have at least liked to have been told if an issue was coming up, just as you said shadow. I'm not mad yet, but once Christmas arrives, I will be. I give one month as a MAXIMUM for any situation like this (lenient, I know) and after that point.... :x :x

O_O;; Just when I think I have this place figured out... wow.. just.. wow... -
I am going to guess this thing is from late 78-80 range. I give that because I have a heavy sixer from June 1980. I would think it being a Taiwan one pretty much assures it to be from sometime in 1978, but just maybe it's from 77. Doubtful though. Odd thing is, mine is still a sunnyvale model. :/ thing has been thru hell too.. Just my ideas, as I am no expert. When you get a chance to crack it open, if it has the stamp still in it / visible, you will at least have an idea when it was assembled and tested.
-
Well, USPS tracking is useless, as it hasn't updated since you shipped the thing! lol. Ah, I am hoping tomorow, or Saturday at the latest: anything later and I will be kinda ticked at the postal service.. AGAIN. It was bad enough it took a month to get a small box from Canada, or things from AX taking half a week (we live like, 300 miles away for miner2049er's sake!) >_< On topic, the fact that cosmosiss HAS been good to deal with just makes me wonder all the more what COULD have happened. It's a 2 part story: He was only on to take another purchase from someone, a good week after my item was to be shipped, BUT, he could not contact me to even say if something HAD shipped or not? Now, I can understand wanting to do things in a group, but you could let people know that things will be delayed, for convenience sake, and hope they are not upset. A week is a long time to be offline, until suddenly you are on one more day to make another sale, then are off again for another week or 2. It really adds up to a bad thing, but I do not want to think it. I speak for more than one person when I at least want to know, what happened? What has been going on?
-
Alright, upon receiving a PM from another person awaiting an item from the same seller, and checking on the status of the sellers thread, I have decided to go on and stop being cryptic on this: The user in question is cosmosiss. The thread in question is Here. Wile I did not have a direct purchase from this thread, I did purchase a an item he was selling in a separate thread, that was linked to in that one. I purchased this Sears heavy sixer unit from him. As I said, the planned initial ship date was Thanksgiving, but it was changed to "ASAP then" once note was made of the bad timing. The PM I received from another member mentioned a transaction on the 3rd of December, which is the last logon date. I am not mad (yet), I would just really like to know what is going on, and hopefully we can all eventually get our items. Otherwise... >_>

Ok, hate to necrobump my own post, but thought you guys might find it nice to know I found the source of my problems: http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/26centipede.htm <-- turns out it is a documented code error: what I was actually figuring for a while now. While my error is NOTHING like the image they show, it at least is an error on the same game Also, the lines mentioned in Squeeze box are visible when I play the game on my 7800, but not too many of my other systems: they are a noted issue, so.. nothing to worry about. So, I guess I got worried over nothing, by reading an older thread relating to a dying console. ^^; Thanks again to those of you who gave suggestions! Hopefully other new atari owners who notice these things will find this thread and not panic like I did.
-
Yeah, this is the situation I am thinking of. Sending a PM to see if you know the scoop on said member. Cebus, now why the heck would I think you were giving me grief? You have a tracking number, which means SOMETHING is coming my way! Could be a turd in a box for all I know, but you have proof of sending SOMETHING, and you are very much active here, daily. As I said, this person has not been active for a while, which makes me worry. I didn't want to post a username because I did not want to create ANY negativity towards this user: having your name in any "what is going on" thread can have consequences, and I did not want the user to possibly miss a transaction all because they are sick or something. :/
-
NOTE: My item arrived, but that does not mean the topic is irrelavant. I would also like to say the seller in question here, Cosmosiss, is a good seller in my book. One delayed shipment because of possible issues in life does NOT at all mean anyone is a bad seller. Give him a chance, and don't let this thread deter you. That is not it's intent, it is just a discussion on such situations. =^.^= ---------- Alright, so right before Thanksgiving, I purchased an item from a reputable AA member. The planned shipping day literally WAS thanksgiving, so the estimated shipping time was "ASAP". Now, I am patient, and can forgive life getting in the way: this is not a critical item, just something I wanted in my collection. Also, I do not think at all the person could be trying to scam, or anything, because they just seem too "normal" here: no one ultra major, but not some random new person offering Air Raid for $100 or some crazy stuff like that; no, this guy is quite nice, and sells alot. Of course, it is now the 17th and I have heard nothing about things one way or the other. Now, this would be an issue if the person had been online, but it seems they have not been since about Dec 3rd: before that they had not been online since our last talk on the 25th of November. So, I begin to wonder: are they ok? did something happen? It's funny to wonder if someone is even ALIVE rather than worry "where is my merchandise" but, honestly I kinda wonder sometimes, when something never get's around, just what happened? As I said, I am not upset: I have had things delayed a month or more due to random reasons, so I am used to stuff happening. So.. yeah... That about sums it up. A normal, good member seems to have disappeared, and I am waiting on something from them. I am not upset, but really wondering what all has gone on. Who knows, it could be waiting out in my mailbox right now. Maybe not. :\ When should I get upset? When should I just say forget it? Any of you ever had one of these situations?

Problem with that is if your timing is off and miss the ship, you'll have to waste time getting that phone piece back. Especially true if you play using . Very true: I only mention this as a last-minute kind of thing, or in a situation where, let's say, he is over the send home zone. Not too practical, but it is an incident that happened to me last night, so I thought to share, mainly to alleviate panic someone may have if that was to happen. More of a random fact situation rather than something to rely on. ^^; -
I would take it, or whatever you "don't use" of it. I am known for taking random junk. Hehe.

I am proud of myself: I completed the game twice so far on Variation 2. Just a bit more practice and I might be able to do Variation 1 successfully. Fun note to players, if the FBI agent comes when you have called the mothership, letting him steal your phone piece won't hinder you, as you have already used it to call, and it will get him off the screen. Sure, it's all about timing, but it isn't too hard. That way you don't have to waste energy and time running to the send humans home zone, then back to the landing site. -
Well, I am the proud owner of a wonderful Atari 2800! No, I kid, it's a Sears Video Arcade II, but it is still one of the sexiest consoles ever to me. And those controllers just seem like perfection... until I try to play with them. See, the design uses a very thin plastic to push the buttons on the PCB: the buttons all work fine, I have pushed them all directly to test them. The issue is that freaking plastic collar: while strong enough to hold up to some paddle game play, the little tabs for the joystick just do not hold up! So, I wonder: do ANY replacement alternatives exist? They do for the 5200 controller, but then again that thing is much more common than the SVA 2 / 2800 design. I have some ideas running in my head, but nothing that would work homebrew: at least, not as far as I can disassemble the controller, as I cannot seem to find a safe way to seperate the joystick assembly from the top of the controller case. ...This whole ordeal has me wondering, on a side note, just what parts are and are not out there? Sure we have working chips from dead units, off the shelf capacitors and resistors, power supplies can be reproduced, and switches can be had for cheap.. but what about those random parts that should be easy to make, but just do not exist? What do you think someone needs to try to make? What ideas have you had? ..and anyone got any idea what I can do with my beautiful 2800 controllers?
-
I would love to get in on something like this, but my graphic skills.. meh.. Not Atari worthy. DDR style PC game, sure. the holyness of a 2600? nope.. haha.
-
Well, for one, I would still love to get my CIB international edition of Galaxian signed by homer. For two, since autographed carts got brought up, I have that super challenge football cart signed by the creator, Ken Smith (as always, thanks to Jason ). Not like too many of those are floating around: not one of a kind but really, how many people have carts of any type signed by the software author? This, of course, is all subjective rarity: it is only rare if someone considers the signature a "part" of the item, in which case, it makes each item unique in and of itself, even if multiple signed copies exist, each one is still very unique in that aspect of it compared to the others.

Yeah, I mainly refer to people about middle to high school age or later: these same sheep mentality kids who rake on the game without knowing anything about it. :\ Eh, if I ever get one of my project going, I'll let you know and you can add my ET comments to your site. -
Sold me some DVD's and some games, exactly as described, and in great shape. At my request, he threw in a nice bit of random freebies from the same thread: some useful junk in there! Will do business with again!

Purchased 3 replacement switches for normal 2600's. Great pricing, fast shipping. Very professional, quality service and merchandise. I will go to him for all future switch needs!

Hey, if it's the sears version, its R3 ^_^ I got one of those in my first lot. It's a smaller prize item in my collection (probably the most worthless of the items I would make note of if showing off the games. ha!)
