i have this same problem with handy - in 2009 on windows vista (home premium) - same "fake lynxboot" error followed by a never ending chain of "C65Co2::Update() - Illegal Opcode (ff) at PC=$4180" (tho the last four digits change when i click continue/reset lynx and i cant work with the emulator at all - in fact i have to ctrl-alt-delete it every time. any ideas????
