  1. Playing Namco Megamix on the Wii got me thinking that both King & Balloon and Cutie Q are great candidates for 2600 homebrew ports.

  2. Anyone ever play the board game "Cross Over The Bridge" as a kid? For whatever reason I suddenly remembered this forgotten game and now would love to find a copy https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/9739/cross-over-bridge

@Machine, I had TROUBLE and remember the commercial "If you got trouble wait don't run, this kind of trouble is lot's of fun! Pop-a-matic pops the dice, pop a 6 and you move twice! race your men around the track and try to send the others back!"

    3. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Yeah, you're doing something right in a board game if ya got a pop-a-matic bubble.

    4. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Finally found a pic of the board of that game...Almost as hard as finding a screenshot on ebay!

  3. Ugh I think I busted the NES part of my Super Retro Trio. I put Blades of Steel in last night and heard a crack and now every game is just random garbage on the screen.

That's a bummer! Do you have another way to play NES at least?

I love lots of nes's. One with a BLW, a Retron 5. It's just that the SRT was convenient in the game room for NES, SNES and Genesis. I'll crack it open and take a look

      GoldLeader

I hope ya get it figured out! It always sucks when something goes down, even if ya do have other means...(My Main 2600 is still down :(

  4. Looking to get a Gotek drive for an old 486. Why do the ebay auctions all seem to mention they're for musical keyboards?

    1. carlsson

      carlsson

Synthesizers, Amigas, Atari STs and a few more probably are the most typical use cases for Gotek. Not so many use old PC's, and even less need a floppy drive emulator for it.

    2. eightbit

      eightbit

Any stock Gotek will work with your 486. Lots of people use them for keyboards which is probably why that is advertised the most. But I have used them in old PC's. Great for reading imaged floppies, booting from imaged floppy boot disks, and reading floppies that I had imaged for archival purposes.

Reliable floppy drives are becoming harder to find hence my inquiry thanks :)

  5. The internet was down this morning and I couldn't get on Atariage. Worst 15 minutes of my life!

  6. So my one 486 board is eaten away from a bad battery, the IBM Eduquest 35 has given up and died. My quest for a working 486 DOS computer continues

  7. Placed another order with Console5. Always very professional, courteous and helpful. So glad we have a place like this for repair parts

  8. I'm going to try to make it through all 4 hours and 20 something minutes of the extended version of "Return of the King" today in one sitting. Wish me luck.

  11. Mappy on the 2600 is an incredible feat of programming. Such a professional product from the game itself, sound and music design down to the box, artwork and manual. Champ Games and everyone involved in this game should be exceedingly proud

I actually bought Ladybug off eBay back when I was just becoming aware of AtariAge! (Blown away BTW!) The more I think about it, I bet Mappy would be great...May have to order it.

  13. So I just discovered I absolute suck at online fps games. I spawn in Star Wars Battlefront II and am killed almost immediately. Yea, lots of fun.

Play a game with an immediate respawn.. e.g. Call of Duty Black Ops 4, etc. Then deaths get less frustrating and you just work to improving your score game to game (i.e. kills to deaths ratio). Heck, I have fun. :)

    3. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

TBH, I only tried playing online once! I got tired of the tutorial kicking my ass and decided I needed some derisive, foul mouthed teenagers to put me in my place in real time...haha...Lesson learned.

    4. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

If the controls had been normal and not full of trickery, the game could have been fun. I wanna say it was called Acrobatic, Supersonic, Rocket Powered Battle cars or something along those lines...basically playing soccer with cars...

  14. I can't stop playing Draconian and Space Rocks. I need a Spiceware support group

Given Nintendo sold ~8M+ between NES and SNES mini there's potential for big money, hence everyone wants to take a stab at it.

An XBOX OG mini should be possible, no?

My niece loves that stupid song. On the plus side, having it in my YouTube history along with my other choices in music spat this version out as a recommendation:

  17. Does anyone how or if you can add background artwork to Mame on the NES Classic? Games like Asteroids Deluxe for example had a nice background that shows up black without that background artwork

  18. Stella via Retroarch on the NES Classic is pretty good. Anyone know what version of Stella it is?

  19. So I belong to a couple Star Wars groups on Facebook but I'm getting tired of the constant posting of pictures of receipts from restaurants that say "order 66" on them. IT'S NOT FUNNY AFTER THE BILLIONTH TIME!!!

The statute of limitations for most crimes is 7 years... so if you're a harasser or whatever, do you get a pass after 7 years? What about if someone did something like this 10 years or 20 years ago? I don't know the answer, but does being an a-hole 20 years ago make you still liable today?

If you brighten and embiggen the image, you can see some familiar rectangles in the background, with a hint of label and the edging on the console looks like that of perhaps a Heavy Sixer. So, I'd say yes! :)
