We are looking into the paddles stepping at the moment. Thanks for posting.

Hopefully it's fixable. Paddle games are a huge part of the 2600 experience. I haven't been following closely but has paddle support for 7800 games been addressed, for example super circus atariage?

I suspect the problem appears on some 2600+ <-> HDMI <-> TV combinations... But I have no idea to be honest...

You may be on to something. I have a Collectorvision Phoenix and there are known issues with some modern tvs with regard to sound. My issue was similar to this pitfall sound. By the way none of these Phoenix issues has ever been resolved even though it's been years but that's another subject

  3. According to John Hancock, Super circus atariage is working with this beta but I can't get paddles to work. Joystick in left port, paddles in right but once I select paddles from the main screen, nothing happens. These are the new Atari paddles btw. Any ideas? Nothing in the manual suggests I'm doing anything wrong.

This is awesome...so far Galaxian and UniWars works.  No luck on Space Rocks or Draconian. Def more 7800 game targets. Hope they can get Champ Games to work next update.

If they can get Spiceware and Champ games running I'll be in heaven

I loaded up 7800 Asteroids on my 2600+ last night and it played fine for me? I'm using an NES style 7800 controller I got from Retrogameboyz a few years ago, but it has NOT done anything random on the games I played. In fact, for fun I even plugged in my High score cart and plugged in my asteroids cart and the game still loaded up and worked fine. High Score cart did NOT come up to save the game and I expected it wouldn't work, but had to try.

Very strange, so I have something odd going on and since this only happens on the plus and not original hardware, it's not my europad or nes pads. I'll have to dig out another 7800 asteroids and see if there's some bizarre issue with my original cart

  6. My biggest issues were with 7800 asteroids and random warps which I've mentioned elsewhere and jittery paddles on the plus that play absolutely smooth on real hardware.

Other than that I've been enjoying the plus

This brought back a core memory playing 7800 Asteroids on real hardware. Is this the bug where your ship is in a constant hyperspace loop? If I remember correctly (and I could very well be mistaken) this would happen when I had a 2600 joystick plugged into my 7800. I'd double check but my 7800 is on the fritz 😞

I've never noticed it on a real 7800. On the 2600+,  I tried a europad and two modded nes pads but the warps were random in intervals. Sometimes a few seconds apart, sometimes a minute or more.

ProSystem is about as bad as you could do. It fails almost every test on the 7800 test suite and even many of the games that are marked as "working" have speed issues, control errors, graphical glitches, awful sound, etc. A7800 is the standard for 7800 emulation but apparently the CPU in the 2600+ is too big of a piece of crap to run it.

Well that's disappointing as 7800 support was a big draw for this over, say, the retron. I've personally only tried 4 games, centipede, food fight, and donkey kong run fine but asteroids is unplayable with the phantom random hyperspace jumps without a button press. I would assume other two button games may exhibit odd behavior but have yet to try them

If that is indeed the case, then the source version being utilized may be 1.3a and not 1.3e.

Backwards/swapped buttons assignments was 'fixed' under v1.3b.

Further, better button behavior overall was not addressed under v1.3d.

A bug was introduced with that and corrected under v1.3d2.

I stated recently v1.3e is from 2013.  Sorry, that's 2009 instead, as mentioned earlier in the thread, and where all button issues were finally sorted.

Would this explain the random warps in 7800 asteroids with no button press on the europad?

I tried a few rounds of Asteroids on the 2600+.  I did notice a few hyperspaces where I'm sure I didn't press the button.

Edit: Why are the buttons reversed on the 2600+?

On the 2600+, left button hyperspaces and right button fires.  On the 7800, right button hyperspaces and left button fires.  Same cartridge and controller.

Yes I noticed the reverse button issue too. I wonder if this is an issue that can be fixed via firmware updates because the random warps make one of my favorite 7800 games unplayable on the +

I've been using the included joystick and an original (Euro) 7800 pad. Both work great

My europad isn't working great with asteroids 7800. For some reason my ship will randomly hyperspace without a button press. Doesn't happen on original hardware. Odd I'm the only one this seems to be happening to
