It's always rough when you deal with stuff from people you know. Like 7 years ago my neighbor lost his job and he had a sweet game collection and he talked to me about selling it. He had lots of N64 boxed games. Now back then n64 boxed stuff rarely added much value as compared to cart only. I ended up keeping all the boxed stuff and selling off my cart only. I looked up all his stuff and priced out what I would profit from if I sold it all online. I then handed him like $700 cash for it all, which is what I would have made after fees and shipping. Say he had a Mario Kart, back then cart only may have been like $20 where complete might have been the same or $25. We are talking very little difference in cart vs boxed back then. I ended up selling some of his stuff, a lot of my cart only stuff and for stuff he had that I didn't and I wanted to keep, I ended up selling other items from my collection I didn't like as much until I got the $700 back. He still claims I pocketed his collection. It really irritates me because I didn't make any money from selling his stuff for him at all. I handed him full cash value for what his stuff was worth at that time and put forth tons of my time to sell all of his stuff. I didn't make any money from selling his stuff. I was happy being able to pick and choose what I wanted to keep from his collection in exchange for selling it for him. What's more ridiculous is at the time he didn't think the stuff was worth even half that and he would have likely sold it for like $200 to anybody who offered.

lol I wouldn't need much. I could give a list of every game it could be LOL You could limit my choices by telling me whether or not the pcb number has a B or J in it

Well they are 64k sram chips which limits what they can be. They are as well 36 pin mask roms so that as well limits what they can be. How about NBA Live 96

I bought a retrogen a few months back, new off ebay for $17.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-RetroGEN-16-Bit-Adapter-Play-Sega-Genesis-Games-on-SNES-Super-Nintendo/172114564537?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 At any rate, spider-man is incompatible w/the retrogen on the retro duo portable. Maybe others but that is just one game I tested on it and it would not work.

How do you plan for the long long long term?
icemanxp300 replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If and when they have a kid, which one of them is giving up the their personal collection room. You can't have a bedroom for them, a bedroom for each of them to have a collection in and then a 4th bedroom for a kid when it is only a 3 bedroom house. -

Any Way for SD Signal on AES?
icemanxp300 replied to MotoRacer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You have me confused. Are you wanting an AES which to most of use means Neo Geo or do you want an NES classic, nes classic knock-off, or something else? -

I don't. -
Well not really joining since he isn't scalping but I agree you need to control the market. Homebrews can't be limited or they will be scalped. Even if Al doesn't list everything, he can always add a card or something in each package to draw traffic the AA store for a bigger selection. Unfortunately Ebay is a necessary evil.

We made a review of the new N64 controller
icemanxp300 replied to djour's topic in Classic Console Discussion
At 6:30 you highlighted my main question.... then you just left it laying dead in the water. Thumbstick. Regardless of whether you buy this or replace a thumbstick in an original. They will go bad. The thumbstick in this will go bad. Open it up what's it take? Can it be replaced? How many wires are on it? Most after market sticks use a cheaper thumbstick w/less wires and those can't be used on originals. Could those be used on this or would you have to buy an expensive thumbstick, that's if you can even replace it at all? How long will this last is the other concern. Which can not be answered here. However I have not seen an aftermarket N64 stick hold up well at all, for that reason alone I would not try my luck on this. -
Hold on here, you have to explain this to me. Why on Earth would someone want to trade anything when it is going to cost them at least $3 plus time plus trade to ship out any trade when it can be purchased for $5 disc only. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Project-Overkill-Sony-PlayStation-1-1996-PS1-Disc-Only-VG-EX/183100898253?epid=1830&hash=item2aa1a9fbcd:g:2~0AAOSw1jJalvpx Even complete can be had for $11. and these are bins. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Playstation-PS1-PsOne-Project-Overkill/132499236463?epid=1830&hash=item1ed991e66f:g:DO0AAOSwMfhafb8A

NES Toploader, is this bad caps? Video included.
icemanxp300 replied to boogieman!'s topic in Classic Console Discussion
Change it. I just tested mine and the left or 1 was 3.77 and the other 2 and 3 were 5.37. I literally just had a similar problem on a front loader where the voltage regulator was outputting high on all 3 legs and the system wouldn't even power on. I changed it and bam worked perfectly. I think one of your legs is outputting too much. ... -

Did you test the voltage regulator? -
It's worth more than $10,000. You can't even get an nes game these days for less than $5. Little Samson alone sells for $1000. Just the one pic w/Little Samson in it those 30 games are worth $7,000. Then you still have another 770 games or so. I would say this lot is worth at least $20,000

Atari 2600 tactile switch modded joysticks.
icemanxp300 replied to icemanxp300's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yes everything is used. The only thing that gets removed are the domes and plastic holding them down. The inner plastic core has to be grinded down on the points that would normally press against the domes as the tactile switches sit higher than the domes do. -

Sold a few. I can make 4 more. -
People have been flipping cereal for awhile. Flutie Flakes comes to mind. This is the first I have seen them and why I only bought 3 as I doubt they will retain value as they were. I will keep a couple around for a few months anyhow. They are only $2.58 each so why not? Worse case scenario we eat them
-
I just went to Wal-mart and was surprised as all hell to see these on the shelf. I wanted to buy them all. They had a whole row. I looked up and the entire top shelf was stacked w/them. They must have had like 30 of them. I bought 3. My boys will be eating at least 1 box. We will see what ebay prices do.

Just my personal opinion unless the game/manual has any real value it is not worth selling together. Once you start adding a manual that means bigger packaging, more time, higher cost of shipping and so on. You are always better off selling cart only and then selling manuals in lots.

Nice, I wasn't actively looking for it but I did waste some time when I seen this post trying to find it. It appears to be a very hard to find variant. -

icemanxp300 replied to icemanxp300's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I think I can make an exception for established AA members. Shipping would be more though. I will have to weight again but I think they are over 8 ounces. I think shipping is going to be like $22 extra. but you could likely buy more than one for that same shipping cost, I believe it cost the same for 9 ounces to 2lbs. -
$25 each shipped. Just tossing these out here if anyone is interested. I remove the plastic and metal domes, clean the board, mount the tactile switches precisely for proper click, and modify the plastic joystick and fire button for proper click. Not sure how many I can do, 5-10 or so. I have to go through what I have. I just got more tactile switches in today. ...

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
icemanxp300 replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
So I was browsing Facebook garage sale groups that I am not even a member of. I ran across a guy selling Klonoa for $40. I messaged him and he said $60 pending P/U LOL whatever. I asked if he was holding or 1st come. He said first come and told me it was a really rare game. He has a store he sells video games out of, so I went up. While there he talked about how he could get $40 alone for the case and manual on ebay. The manual has a little water damage and stuck pages that I pulled apart causing slight damage. The back insert has slight water damage on bottom corner. The game while it worked was horrible. I paid him the $60 for it anyhow. While I was there I was looking at the other games he had. I asked how much "Sunset Riders" was. He said what? I said the yellow label He told me $10...sold I gave Klonoa a new jewel case and took it down to the local Game store and paid him $5 to resurface it. While not perfect way better than it was. Klonoa is already on ebay, I'll keep Sunset Riders. ....
