What do you do with broken stuff?
icemanxp300 replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If it is something I can fix and is worth my time I will fix it. If it is something I can't fix and/or is not worth my time I sell it on ebay and let someone else deal with it If it is not worth selling I offer it for free or toss it in the garbage can after awhile. -
I have decided these items would be better suited in a museum setting, they are not what I really collect. I have reached out to the Strong National Museum of Play. It is only 30 minutes away from me. More so it would be the ICHEG "International Center for the History of Electronic Games". They have already said they would like my donation. I just have to take them up to them now. If you have never been there, it is pretty sweet. We had a membership there in 2016. They have tons of arcades and lots of stuff from all systems. That's just the game exhibit. They have an entire bottom floor dedicated to kids activities. Train rides, sesame street exhibit, a big plane kids can climb in, and so on.

Made a trade with TPR. Good communication, fast payment.

Oh come on who needs to walk! I am not ready to sell my collection but I am, we will say cleaning up. I am amazed how much stuff I keep finding in bins I don't need. I have cleared lots of bins out of the garage. I have cleaned up quite a bit from the side of the basement that I made into a playroom. I am finally getting my game room somewhat clean again. I still have quite a bit to unload and bins to go through and I fully expect in the near future to have a clean game room again lol. I became too much of a hoarder. At one point I had I believe about 60 n64 controllers. I finally forced myself to sell all but 2 for each color. One of the things I find hard about collecting is the inability to throw stuff out, even when it is broken. That's changing, I have been forcing myself to toss stuff that well is so damaged and nasty it needs tossed. I have had my floor cleaned up 4-5 times and all I do is unload more bins and fill it up again w/stuff to sell. I totally understand the need to have space. I can't wait till I get all my extra stuff gone. In one way I want to sell all games and just get everdrives and make room for foosball tables and pool tables and such. However I'm too attached and like being surrounded by walls of games. I have lined my basement w/shelving that only sticks out like 6" so it doesn't appear to take up much space. I have games/systems going to the ceiling in effort to keep space open.

Do not use super glue or cement. If the screen is scratched at all you might want to just buy a new one. I have read a light epoxy or silicone. Silicone does sound like a really good choice. Just like what you seal your windows and doors with would probably be great. Get a clear silicone that is good for vinyl siding and apply a very thin coat and put some pressure on it for a few hours and you should be good. Make sure to stay away from the edges because when you push down it will force it out and you def. don't want that getting on the lcd or anywhere else.

Just picked up an SU-32FD3 stand for this TV this morning. I paid $30 for it but it is in such good condition I didn't mind. The top shelf supports 202 lbs and the tv weighs 171lbs. Now just need my dad to come back LOL. https://docs.sony.com/release/SU32FD3.PDF ... -
We greatly disagree on the value of this lot. We will see.

Got it in, I will be discussing it more in this thread. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/273591-designed-a-tv-standconsole-holder-for-this-sony-trinitron-wega-40-beast/ ... -
Ok so I am going to discuss the TV's I get here as well. Just nabbed a KV-32FV300. I actually grabbed a 2nd KD-27FS170 a few days ago. So my dad came over and helped me get this in. It was a bit heavier than I expected lol. It is temporarily on a cart until I get a permanent place for it. I may give away or sell that XBR-800 I got a few months back as it is to heavy to move, still debating on this. The first thing I noticed is this TV as compared to the 27" KD-27FS170, seems extremely picky. I hooked up a couple of model 2 genesis systems and the picture had horrible vertical bars that looked like ass. So I hooked up my model one I use for testing, it is nothing special but light years better image quality. However you can't see in pic but it does have some horizontal waves. I am currently using cheap cables and power supply. Waiting to see if it needs to warm up. I will tryout my HD Non-TMSS later w/official power and official component cables and see how it looks. As of right now the 27" has a better picture. This picture isn't bad but the 27" is not picky at all, everything you toss at it looks crisp. Ok so I just removed the 32x and after market cables as those are all I have to connect the 32x with. Using the same aftermarket power but oem component master system YW cables, it cleared up 90% of the wave on screen. I then used an original power and it is a 100% crisp image. So while the KD-27FS170 does not seem to care much about cable quality, this KV-32FV300 does. Other than being picky about cable/power quality it is the same picture as the KD-27FS170. Sweet TV. Ok another update, I ran the 32x again but with the original power and it was crisp, so not as picky as I thought. Basically it just doesn't like the 3rd party power supply, the a/v cable is ok. I went back and tossed the model 2's back in w/an original power supply that I used to power the 32x, same result as the 3rd party supplies, ugly vertical bars. It appears that the model 2 original power 15W is insufficient where as the model 1 being 18W is enough or the model 2's just suck that bad. I always liked model 1's over model 2's anyhow. ...

If I had an extra room I would hoard every one of these I see for free! I need to talk my dad into letting me store them. I see these selling for a few hundred in the near future. -

OMG I have problems. I just seen a KV-32FV300 on facebook Marketplace. I couldn't resist. Sadly I only have a Mazda 3. Hell why should that stop me LOL. I should have so gotten a ticket, but it was dark Success! Now I just need help getting it out of my car. ... -
You know this would be super easy to do on GB. I have two open right now. The one is completely screwed, not by me, but this screen is bad both horizontal and vertical hardly any lines show LOL. The other one I screwed up last year I was able to get almost fixed. It still has 5 dead vertical lines that do not seem to want to fix. I should rob the speakers and sell them or keep one if it will fit a GBC as I have a green one that needs a speaker. I can then sell the back pcb's as those are good. I can cut out the battery storage box and put back together. Remove the power button and dremel it a bigger slot. Then the battery cover will act as an opening to get the money out of. My boys would go crazy over them LOL.
-
Yeah I could look into making a clock out of them. This would be a neat idea and wouldn't be anything fancy. Who knows I'll into it.
-
Yeah, well when all of them need the same part there isn't much swapping going to happen. I'll put them in a huge lot on Craigslist and say make offer. They can deal w/the garbage.

I was waiting for the nes, you have to have more than megaman right lol -
First off does anyone know of some affordable replacement lasers for the ps1 and psone if they are different. I have like 5 ps1's and 2 ps ones that need new lasers, but the damn things are almost worthless anyhow. Next I have a GB I was going to fix last year and I destroyed it lol. I was going to fix the scan lines and when I pulled the rubber off the ribbon cable I did not realize it was stuck on hard and actually pulled the ribbon cable up. Do they sell screens w/the ribbon cable attached?

Removing that Metal box is royal PITA! I think you can remove those caps w/out removing the entire box. You can pull the cover off and should be able to remove the caps w/out desoldering the box from the PCB. I just removed 2 of them like 3 months ago to swap a bad one w/one from a parts system. The solder joints are very big and if you only have WIC you will likely need a lot. I desoldered most w/my gun but I still had to use reflow a bit and use wic to get the deep around solder. The gun can't suck it all out in one shot so you basically have to clean up w/wic, at least I did anyhow.

LOL. It sold, (locally) what more do you want. Sadly space invaders is not in the demand as Mario Land and Dragon Warrior. FYI here is the last one I sold on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Nintendo-Game-Boy-Gameboy-System-Tetris-Wario-Land-3-tested-DGM-01/273019676997 -

OK so as far as this KD-27FS170 goes. I seen another listed yesterday for free and it came w/the remote! The same exact TV, Wega SD. So of course I had to go get it LOL. The guy told me today when I got there his phone was blowing up over people wanting it. Well since I already have one and no room, I just wanted this for a spare. I went lo Lowes and bought a cart for $20 and cleared out a spot under the stairs storage section and rolled it in there and then put the Christmas decorations in front. Now it is out of the way and saved for a rainy day. I hope I don't see another one. My dad's house may turn into TV storage LOL. I already see the demand for these TV's picking up, it's only a matter of time before they are selling for Hundreds. -

Pending sale. Highlighting a Gameboy for sale. $47 shipped w/out the black case. You can have the black case for free if you want to pay the extra shipping for it. It would make it a 2lb package priority instead of a 15 oz first class. No dead scan lines. I fixed those last year. I just acquired another GB that is in better condition that I am keeping so now I am selling this one. Both games play and DWM holds a save. ... -

KD-27FS170 It has come to my attention that what this TV does is accept a 1080i signal but downgrades and outputs it at 480i. It has a built in tuner but the tube inside it is only 480i. -

Anyone have a use for this plastic u-channel that eproms get shipped in? I generally toss the small pieces but was keeping these longer pieces. I really have no use for them and will likely toss most of them in the garbage. They are like 21" long. ... -
This is so nice, I am almost tempted to keep it. I would if I didn't have the exact same thing in practically identical condition. $260 plus shipping. Shipping must include insurance and signature confirmation. Shipping shown in auction should be accurate for what you would pay. I already added $8 handling fee to cover insurance and signature confirmation. I'll post the main image but the other images can be seen in the auction. This is packed extremely well. I don't mess around on high end items. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 332559904948 ...

Well from my experience those lines are always power related. So maybe there is a cap inside that may be going bad. I generally only run into these problems using after market supplies.
