  1. The carts go in OK, it's just that I have to wiggle them or pull them out slightly for the image to show up on the screen... I thought that the slot on the main board was causing the problem, that's why I thought it might be "replaceable." Thanks, Roger
  2. Is this easy to do? I have to fiddle with the carts I use on my 800XL for them to be playable... I am assuming that it's a loose or bad cart slot Thanks, Roger
  3. I got the Zork I game (MISB) from him and I am very pleased... great guy to deal with Thanks, Roger

  8. I have one in need of repair and no one seems interested in it so is there anyone else out there with a non-working unit that I could use for parts (in an attempt to fix mine)?!? Thanks, Roger
  9. I bought this not too long ago and after some brief troubleshooting, I don't have the time to invest in fixing it. Please see the link for an in-depth description of the error code: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/179210-another-indus-gt-error-code/ You can have it for $25 plus shipping (from 75054). That gets you the drive and the Atari 5200 PS (if you want it)... if not, the PS gets recycled. The drive is clean inside and out with some scratches on the smoked plexi face plate. Please ask if you have any questions. Thank you, Roger UPDATE: I'd also be interested in trading for a working 1050
  10. Anyone have any other ideas on this? I sent Best an email to see if they carry Indus parts... Thanks, Roger
  11. OK, I removed the ribbon, inspected and cleaned it and, after putting everything back together, there was no change in the LED screen. I also pulled, inspected and reseated the FDC... still no change. Any other ideas?!? Does anyone have a spare LED panel or FDC chip? Thanks, Roger
  12. Thanks for the info. I'm guessing that the only way to test it is to swap it with a known good chip? Roger
  13. I hate to ask, but what do either of those mean? Would either of those keep the drive from "stepping" at start up? FDC = floppy disk controller?!? This sounds major Thanks, Roger
  14. Before I go and ruin anything, is there anyone out there that specifically repairs Indus drives? I saw some names when I searched the forum but their websites were 10+ years old... Thanks, Roger
  15. I doubt if it's an official Atari product... probably someone trying to take advantage of the computer boom back then. Very odd looking though... I've never seen another one. Roger
  16. This same item was listed a few months ago (by the same guy)... I thought it sold back then Roger
  17. No, I don't have the tools (or ability) to do that I am committed to fixing this one though... it's gonna be a learning experience. Roger
  18. No stepping at all upon power up. This code comes on and that's it. If I plug/unplug the PS cord (where it connects to the Indus on the back), it does flash the "00" very quickly so I am thinking that the display is good. Internally, everything looks good (for what that's worth). Thanks, Roger
  19. I just got this from eBay. Seller said that it powered on but wouldn't read a disk... boy was he right. It came with a 5200 PS but I get the same results with that one or my stock Indus PS. The protect button will go off/on if I push it but that's about it. The screen reads what looks like "I I" and a backwards capital "C". Any ideas on this one? I've searched and coulnd't find anything remotely close to this error code... is it fried Thanks, Roger
  20. I got this off eBay but nowhere on the disk does it say "Atari." Could it be a C64 disk? I am assuming that I would still get a boot error if this was the case too?!? Or, I guess the disk could just be bad Thanks, Roger
  21. Some great conversation here... one of the many reasons to love this website This weekend, I will try and make one of these bad boys! Thanks to all, Roger
  22. Hmmm... that red wax thing rings a bell... maybe I do remember that thing And I initially thought the disk was bad Thanks again to everyone, Roger
  23. So, if pins 1 + 2 + 8 need to be connected on the dongle, could I (through process of elimination) find the three wires that correspond to these three pins and simply tie them together?!? Is it that simple Thanks, Roger
  24. My level of expertise in doing something like this is pretty low Roger
