I have a working ROM for my emulator... I'm just being extremely anal in my attempt to obtain a working original Roger

After doing a little research, it appears that there was a "security dongle" that had to be plugged into joystick port 2 for the game to run. I am guessing that that's why it hangs in the middle of loading It seems as though the dongle simulated the joystick being pressed upwards and downwards simultaneously?!? Pretty ingenious security measure for back then... My next question is "Does anyone have one of these?" Thanks again, Roger

I read on another forum about some hardware "security key" that needs to be plugged into joystick port2. I had bought this game back in the day but I don't remember anything like this... is there a dongle or something that was required to run this game?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Roger

Indus GT drive error - G5 - won't read disks...
dafivehole replied to dafivehole's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I have an Indus GT that's always worked well, but it's always had a quirk: I have to let it warm up before it will format. If I turn it on and it's cold, it gives me errors (or the newly formatted disk doesn't work--I can't remember which). But if I wait until it's at normal operating temperature, it will format just fine. I don't think this issue was contingent on the DOS I was using. Does anyone know anything about this? It's funny you say this... I seem to have noticed a pattern. The drive has trouble reading/formatting right when you start it up... after it warms up, it runs like champ!!! Roger -
Well, what do you know... the one on eBay just popped up again in a lot with a Vader 2600 and games: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 220751694409 I sent the guy (again) an offer for just the Wico stick... should anyone else win this, I would make the same offer to you: $20 Thanks, Roger

Odd Wico Command Control Joystick

Oddly enough, I've seen one like that before but it was a looooong time ago... I wish I had some better info for you. Cool looking stick... maybe the base was their attempt at ergonomics?!? Roger -
Yeah, I got mine in a computer store in Vancouver (in 84/85). The grips were swappable and there was a snap on plate at the base that had notches for 4-way or 8-way directional movement. Roger

The search continues... I saw one on eBay that was included in a 2600 lot, the lot didn't sell but the seller ignored my inquiry... guess he didn't want my money Thanks, Roger

Just curious what the difference is... Thanks, Roger Country of origin, Japan vs Hong Kong. Cool, I had no idea. Thanks for the info! Roger

Indus GT drive error - G5 - won't read disks...
dafivehole replied to dafivehole's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Well, for whatever reason, now it's working like a champ! The one issue I have now though is that I can't seem to format a disk... I'm using DOS XL (it came with the Indus). Is there another DOS that I should use? I can't remember what I used back in the day Sorry for the newb questions, I'm trying to re-acquaint myself with it all now... Thanks, Roger On a side note, DOS XL tells me that one of the disks I'm trying to format is "write protected" -
Indus GT drive error - G5 - won't read disks...
dafivehole replied to dafivehole's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It's the only drive I have UPDATE: I went back and tried to load the same disk and it works fine now Could the issue be with my 800XL? It has a hard timing reading some carts and it makes a weird sound from time to time too... <scratching my head> Thanks again, Roger -
Any suggestions? Thanks, Roger
