The 5200 PSU will not fry the 1050.. It just wont run the 12v circuit inside it.. You need a 9vac PSU..
Rather than give it to goodwill, why not mail it to some one who needs an atari disk drive..
Hmmm, isn't there a Marketplace section on this forum
If someone will send me $20 via Paypal, it's all yours! It'll cost over $10 for shipping alone so I'm only making about $9...
OK, here's the for sale link: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/163824-atari-1050-disk-drive-only-20-shipped/

Thanks again... if no one wants this by the end of the weekend, it'll go to GoodWill.

I updated the listing in the Marketplace section... I just want to get rid of this (working or not).
Thanks

I did some research and this does appear to be a 5200 power supply... since I have boxed everything up, I will sell this as a 1050 drive, IO cable and a 5200 power supply. Thanks for the input everyone...

The disks I have used are games (original disks, not copies) and exactly how does a PS cause the drive to not be able to read a disk?!?
Thanks
-
Just added a 1050 drive with some minor issues...
Thanks
What is the specs on the power supply? It looks like a 5200 PS to me.
PS specs: Part No. CO18187
Input: 120VAC 60Hz 38W
Output: 9.3VDC AT 1.95A
Jmetal88, let me box it up and get a shipping price for you.
Thanks,
Roger

I've tried numerous bootable disks that works perfectly on my Indus GT... no worries, I've listed it for sale or trade in the Marketplace.
Thanks to all,

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, no... that doesn't work... I had tried that a while back with the results that I listed above.
Thanks

OK, I know that this may have been covered before but I'm looking for a straight-forward answer for this. My 1050 does this:
- I turn it on, it spins briefly then stops (no weird sounds).
- the screen reads boot error, then pauses, then says it again (continuously).
- the switches on the rear of the drive are set correctly.
- I opened it up but don't know where to start...
Thank you

Yowzers! I found an awesome one on eBay for only $8.20 shipped

No, still no luck on the 5.25 disk box

Updated with a 600XL

Wow, most of that sounds like it's over my head... I'll go ahead and seal her up and see if anyone is interested with it the way it is... I appreciate your help on this one.
Thanks,
Roger

OK guys... reseated the OS and RAM chips and still nothing... any more ideas? I don't have a lot to steal parts from for testing purposes... I'd rather not mess with my 800XL.

I'm out of time right now, so when I get home from work (tomorrow morning), I'll try that with the OS ROM and report my findings. I appreciate your assistance with this...

Upon closer inspection, one of the RAM chips wasn't all the way seated... needless to say, I was pretty excited at the notion that this was the problem. I pulled it out (that sounded weird) and reseated it... I checked all of the other chips and they looked good. After re-assembling everything and turning it back on... the screen is now black (instead of red)

Both of my keyboards have the mylar ribbon that goes right into the MB. After taking the shield off, there are a ton of chips in there... I'm not sure which is which

From reading some other posts, I am thinking that the red screen means dead RAM? With this in mind, I am assuming that no one would want this for anything other than spare parts?
Just curious but my CAPS key on my 800XL is broken, could I swap keyboards with the 600XL (are they exactly the same)?
Thanks,
Roger

Anyone have one of these for sale? Needs to be extra clean (no scratches or breaks, etc.)

Thanks,

'ello,
i might be interested in the Indus GT, are you looking for another drive (1050?) i have one we could work out a trade for if your interested...
sloopy.
I have a 1050... mainly looking to sell this one but I would listen to trade offers for a couple of joysticks or some carts.
Thanks
-
Here's what I have left over from a lot I recently purchased. I will add/send pics if needed. Looking for cash offers or trade for Atari 8-bit carts/software:
- Here's a Gemstik joystick too. Works perfectly and the only cosmetic flaw is that the silver paint on the name has rubbed off (on the "G")... see pic below.

Sorry, everything else sold
Thanks,
Roger
