  1. Found Wing Commander and Secret Missions at a flea market a few days ago, big Wing Commander fan from the PC so I figured I'd pick them up. Naturally the games are loose with no box/manual, I've figured out most of the controls, but is there a way to target fighters the same way as the PC version? Mainly, the red brackets (or blue bracket if friendly). I dig the SNES version, pretty good adaptation of the PC version in a lot of ways. I do miss the ease of use the keyboard provides though.
  2. I really liked GTA III, and absolutely loved Vice City...and I must say I loved San Andreas too, which was an absolutely huge game with lots to do. The humor factor of the radio stations is one thing I enjoyed about the series, Lazlo on V-Rock was always good for a laugh. I didn't care much for the humor in the GTA IV game, then again those radio stations didn't have very good music (IMO) compared to Vice City and San Andreas, although Iggy Pop on that rock station was fun to listen to. I'm probably the one of the few people that plays these games to their completion and tries for 100%, then again, I do that for every game I own. And yeah I love Saints Row as well, and it can be a feminist nightmare..heck my entire gang is made up of strippers. I like going into combat with a bunch of scantily clad women.
  3. I used Prodigy back in 1990 till 1993. That's where I first got hooked on message boards, also thought it was cool how instantly I could get news - before it was even broadcast on TV generally. Also remember playing Mad Maze quite a bit. I still preferred my local BBS's at the time, but P* had it's moments - I remember trading bootleg VHS KISS concerts with a bunch of guys on there long ago, was a good time.
  4. I used to log in to a lot of local BBS's around here. There were only a couple really good ones, and a few okay ones. The best one by far was one called PC Universe, would play Trade Wars 2002, BRE, LORD, and LOW (Think it was called Land of Waste..was a post-nuclear war RPG type game) but I loved playing DOOR games. A couple of the BBS's around here had Wildcat, a couple others had WWIV, one had PBBS, and I remember one using Excalibur software. Another BBS called Pegasus I would dial into every once in awhile, which had a respectible amount of DOOR games, but PC Universe gave you more turns and unlimited access for a better price. Can't tell you how many shareware titles I would download from those places. I still access some BBS through telnet, but unfortunately the last BBS in my area closed down in 1997.
  5. The game is fairly difficult. I am on the last campaign, but I doubt I'll ever be able to get 5 stars on every level - even on normal difficulty the game throws all it can at you later on. I prefer the old Choplifter that I used to play on PC (and even the SMS version) but this one is alright. I find myself wishing I had a gunner, controlling everything gets a bit maddening sometimes - you have to aim, shoot your cannons and/or missles, and then focus on the hostages, which gets quite hard as you progress, especially when you have tanks, snipers, and RPGs being shot at you from all directions.
  6. Yeah I played the shareware version a long time ago. I downloaded a lot of those old Apogee (and Epic games too) on BBS's back in the day. Games like Commander Keen, Crystal Caves, Jill of the Jungle, Major Stryker, the side scrolling Duke Nukem games, were all staples of my early computer gaming days.
  7. Yeah, I remember being very unimpressed with the launch titles of the N64 - Mario 64 was a lot of fun, but the whole reason I bought that system was for Shadows of the Empire..which ended up being not so great (compared to my PC favorite Dark Forces) but still. I thought the Dreamcast had a solid launch though.
  8. Agreed. I'd even be in favor of a TIE Fighter remake/upgrade, that is such a great game.
  9. Finally beat the game, didn't have much time to play it due to work - but I did enjoy the story, and most of the missions were fun. Actually the first few missions are boring, but then things pick up and really get intense. I will say this is a very glitchy game, I have encountered numerous glitches - one mission the "swipe" screen kept repeating over and over, the mission wouldn't start forcing me to reload, sometimes when doing a quick car jack (Bo Duke-In) you will take continuous damage until you die, or sometimes the car will explode. Sometimes when I am doing the car theft list the target vehicle will be "destroyed" even before I can even spot the thing. Playing online is fun, but it seems everyone uses cheates on this game that I've found, and I tend to be a trophy/achievement hound, so I hate using cheats - also once you get to a high enough level your character basically becomes invincible anyway. Over all, fun game, despite the glitches.
  10. My cousin, and my son both have this game for PS3 - it looks cool, I might pick it up for the 360, I played Saints Row 2 a lot - nearly got 100% in that game, might tackle this one too.
  11. Yeah I bought a new copy of Saints Row the Third, and yes it's the PS3 version..wasn't aware of the SR2 thing, that's pretty cool.
  12. So, I bought my cousin Saints Row the Third for Christmas, it's wrapped and under the tree. However, when I opened the case before wrapping it it said "To experience the full online experience, enter this pass code..if pass code has been used you can purchase a new one." So, how long are these pass codes good for? Christmas is only a few weeks away, but still, quite alarming to me to say the least.
  13. I agree that the limited installs on a PC game is pretty lousy. And as far as the DLC, a lot of the DLC would've been unlockables in games in the past for doing certain things. Annoys me to no end when I buy a game at Gamestop and they hound you with all the DLC you can get, most of which should already be available anyway.
  14. All I've seen so far is Fall 2011, no definite release date.
  15. I might have to check this out. I really liked the original Choplifter, and I enjoyed the Sega Master System version too - really liked the ocean level with the ships.
