  1. Is color artifacting possible to emulate?  If so do an of the Atari 7800 emulators have this as a feature?  Just curious if this is possible for a game such a Tower Toppler since it made use of artifacts color.  Emulation drastically changes the look of the game for the worse.

Arcadia 2001 - no phisical hombrews besides the multicarts but about a half dozen rom homebrews

    @stupus

I have been try to find any details on homebrew activity for the Arcadia 2001 but haven't been able to locate any information about such projects by searches here on AtariAge or Google.  Do you have any links to homebrew for the Arcadia 200, names of any hombrew titles even links to programming resources for homebrews?  Just asking since I just learned of the console and started researching it and wanted to seen more of what this system was capable of and there is no better gauge for that than by checking out the homebrew projects for a console.

    - Is the emulator that you are using Handy 0.95?  This version has a issue with sound. There is a later version of Handy that resolves the sound issue (Handy.0971).

    - Details on (Handy.0971 can be found at

    - Handy 0/971 isn't on the SourceForge page but there is a Dropbox link in the thread here on AtariAge so that you can download it

  4. I was looking at the specs of the AtariVox and saw it has a five channel music synthesizer.  I was curious to see some examples of how this could enhance Atari 2600 & 7800 games.  Looked for some demos of such music and didn't find anything.  Seems most interest has just been in the speech and sound effects that the AtariVox can add to games.

@RushJet1 from what I can see here on the AtariAge forums you seem to the be the leading expert on pushing the TIA to make some extraordinarily amazing tunes on stock Atari 2600/7800 hardware.  Have you done any tunes with the AtariVox and if so could you post links to demos of those tunes?

  5. OK, just one last thing to note.

    • if I save a gave it successfully save and I can then successfully load it
    • After I exit the game or shutdown the save that was working no loner load and then throws the "Load Failed" error when attempting to load the game

Is the game save only e save in local RAM while the game is running and not a permanent save on the device itself?  That would seem to the case here. I had thought it was save internally on the device itself I think that assumption was mistaken.  Look like saves are valid for the current play session and purged from RAM as soon as the currently play session exited for whatever game was running.  Disappointing that seems to be the case as it only make saves useful to reload a save during a play session and store play session to pickup at later date or time.

  6. Now loading saved games mysteriously works.  Don't make a lot of sense as is exactly the same process that I was doing earlier and had even restarted the device previously so it isn't a case of just having needed to be restarted.  Still would be useful to know why it was occurring.  Whatever it was causing this I just am happy that it has sorted itself out and that the load features isn't broken any longer.

  7. I have recently bought an Atari Flashback Portable.  Can someone tell me where I can find the latest firmware for the Atari Flashback Portable (mine is the woody variant, model AP328OB)?

I have checked the following sites and cannot find any firmware updates for Atari Flashback Portable consoles (nor any other documentation for these devices)

    https://firmwareupdate.atgames.net

    https://www.atgames.us/

Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to answer these questions!

    • How do I check the firmware version on my Atari Flashback Portable?
    • Have there been any firmware updates for the Atari Flashback Portable devices console?
    • If there are firmware updates where can I download them?
  8. I recently got an Atari Flashback Portable (AP328OB woody) and am not able to get saved games to load.  The game reports "save succeeded" when a game is saved but when I try to load a saved game there is an error stating "Load Failed".  I have tried this both on Solaris and Pac-Man that were pre-loaded on the console to rule it being limited to just one game and get the same error.  I don't have a SD card in the console in case that makes a different (not sure if the games are supposed to save to that and "save succeeded" is just a false positive without it).  Maybe this is just user error on my part, but I have searched online and here on the AtariAge forums but cannot find any topics about this issue.  Maybe someone here can advise how to resolve this issue.  Thanks!

  9. Finally got around to getting my original XBOX repaired.  Actually I had 2 original XBOX that I got serviced however only one of the console was having issues but knew the other one due to age would be having capacitor issues as well and only a matter of time before it failed.  I found a really knowledgeable repair person on eBay and sent them to him for repair.  Fortunately the repair cost was very reasonable per console and I was able to ship both consoles for just under $12 each.  Received both of my original XBOX consoles back yesterday and both are working like new as well as nice and clean as if they were new & just taken out the box!

These are what was found to be issues with the consoles:

    • Removed the clock capacitor on both consoles
    • The system that wouldn't power on needed several traces repaired due to clock capacitor leakage and needed 5 capacitors replaced.
    • The second system did not have much clock capacitor leakage but needed 6 capacitors replaced.

The repair job was very thorough and everything in both systems was looked over and extensively tested to ensure both consoles we in proper working order.

Very happy to have both of these system running again.  My next project is going to to be swapping out the hard drives in both consoles so that I have backup of them before they fail due to age and make the systems into doorstops.

  10. Does anyone here repair Sega Genesis consoles?

I have 2 consoles that I took out of storage and while with both of the power on they both only show a black screen.  I have tried both the the Sega Genesis AV cable (RCA end) as well as 2 different RF adapters.  Made sure the consoles were set to channel 3 and TV tuned to 3 when using the RF adapters and turned to the correct AV input when using the AV cable.  Also tested multiple games and the TV that I am connecting to is a CRT.  Not sure what this issue is as the both worked last time I used them.  Could just be the capacitors.

    • Sega Genesis Model 1 (original launch version with "High Definition Graphics" printed on the case)
    • Sega Genesis Model 1.2 (looks like with launch version but doesn't have "High Definition Graphics" printed on the case)

Sorry for bumping this thread but where i can find a legit .ROM of Hot Dog? I want to play it on my Wii emulator :)

You cannot download the ROM since it has never been released and the OP went silent and never made good on the promise to make more copies to the game to anyone on this thread interesting a buying a copy on a second production run of the game.  Unfortunately I doubt we are ever going to see copies of Hotdog ever become available again.  Would be nice if the OP would would give an update on what happened instead of just leaving everyone hanging, but it is quite clear that no update on this ever ever coming even it was was just to say sorry for whatever reason the plans for the production run got cancelled.  At this point this thread should be locked as clearly another production run is never going to happen.

It's been quiet while I jam away on dynamically scaling systems for Project Orbit.
In lieu of fancy trailers and all (coming soon), here a few screenshots from this arcade shmup, influenced by Gyruss, Star Castles and AstroSmash.  Coming by Xmas exclusively for your Atari VCS.
