  1. They would imply that children are property. They are not, as to me that is no different than the wife being property of the husband.. But they are under guidance of parents until an appropriate age, when they are allowed to make their own way as an adult. As they are not property of parents, neither are the things that they own, that were gifted to them, or that they obtained by by their own means. As I reminded my three children, until that magic 18th birthday i own that ass and all property associated with it! Parents who raise kids as their friends or equals are hurting the kids and society. They grow up to politicians or worse, join groups like OWS.
  2. Wow, So let me be the first to say, sorry for the loss of her father. Second, nice little haul. Any time you can get a free console system and games is good. Enjoy!
  3. Not a thrift find, but I did get an email from a local who had a tub of Commodore stuff. Said it was dirty and that's an understatement, looks like a true barn find. Will have to do a lot of cleaning and testing. But for $20 I got: 2x Brown C64's 1 C128 2x 1541 drives (1 lever, 1 latch style drive) 1 Blue Chip 1541 clone A 5 and 8 pin video cable A serial cable A what appears to be mint MPS 802 printer in it's original shipping box A white model C2N cassette player A C64C style PS Not a bad find for the money, the two video cables made the deal alone. Not I need to find that strange power cord for the Blue Chip drive.
  4. Played Yar's Revenge for 9 hours straight, finally turning it over 1,000,000 points only to realize it just takes you back at the starting level. Paid $30 for Haunted House when it was new. Played it because it was scary as hell! Bought a Vectrex brand new along with all the release titles, got tired of it and traded it for a pair of headers for my 70 Challenger. When asked "Mary-Ann or Ginger" I say Laura Croft!
  5. I'm a collector and user. What's the use of having something if you don't use it. I currently have 29 game consoles in my game room, all playable and I encourage my kids friends to use them. Neat as hell watching young kids get into some of the classics. I'm that way with my C= 128D, and Amiga 2000 as well. I like using and tinkering with the old hardware. Emulation is ok and a cheap alternative but not nearly as fun to use. I like UAE and do us it to emulate my current config on the 2000, this way i can experiment on different software and settings and not mess up my running system.
  6. Nice little haul today from a local thrift. All for $14.99:
  7. Thanks. Ouch, that sucks. My old trusty 128D is a good machine other than an orange keyboard. LOL way beyond yellow but works fine. Going to go up for sale when I get my stuff together. Been buying too much, now I need to clean up and post stuff for sale.
  8. Thanks! Yeah that's my other hobby. The D-104 is hooked up to a Heathkit DX-60 that I restored (the HG-10 VFO is next to it, near completed) it makes the DX-60 smoke on AM. I run it om 40 and 80 meters. Just to the right of 128D is the speaker to my Realistic DX-160 receiver, I use it with an old Heathkit DX-35 and VF1 VFO, nice little CW setup. I need to get a few picks of my updated radio shack\Commodore room here soon. I keep saying I'm going too, but then I go and change things around. Good thing is, My A2000 has a new HD and back working, I have the new 128D and only need to get the cable ran to get it on the BBS's. But no pics this weekend, last camping trip of the year and I need a nice bonfire and some Vodka! Now I gotta ask - what's your callsign? Curious if I've ever ran into you on 20/40m. Brian (KF5MDY) It's -. ---.. .. . 73 de Dan, N8IE
  9. Tips for the serious seller: 1. Tell us what you got for sale. 2. That is all.
  10. This dad is serious, or at least a good selling ploy: http://dayton.craigslist.org/ele/2596660283.html
  11. Thanks! It's real clean, there are a few blems but they are minor. It works perfectly and the drive is in pretty goo alignment. This will replace my old 128D. I'll clear it up and post it for sale. It's a good system but the poor keyboard is so yellow it's almost orange. But it work great also. The yellowing is easily fixed in an afternoon. Retrobrite... That's what I hear. Never tried it myself. I'm going to make sure she's good to go, price it right, and let someone else enjoy her. Not going to do the e-Bay thing, I'd rather just price it fair and go from there.

  14. I picked up this little gem tonight for $75!
  15. Not a great weekend but not bad either. Traded in some "dupe" items at a local store and found a wireless adapter for my 360, net after trade in was $17. Found an excellent copy of Syphon Filter 2 for the PS1 for $3. Also picked up a very nice fat PS2 with all cords, a busted controller, and three memory cards for $20. Clean and works fine! Been wanting a spare system for a while. Best thing of the weekend was getting a free 3.2GB SCSI drive to get my Amiga 2000 running again!
  16. I'd take the high road here and PayPal him $10, if nothing else for being honest.
  17. Hey Frank, Want to trade that 1750 for a 1764 w\power supply?
  18. I've done that once or twice when I was young and stupid, now that I'm old and stupid I have learned how not to make stupid mistakes. Mostly, that is.
  19. I check my spreadsheet on my phone to see if I have the game or not, if it's a game I suspect is "rare", then I look it up on Rarityguide.com to get an idea, or eBay ones that have sold. all this from my little old smart phone.
  20. Guess I'm either old or just an old fashioned nerd. I made an Excel Spreadsheet. Fully customizable and I can use it on my smart phone. You could use just about any spreadsheet or database program for those who are Microsoftphobes.
  21. Been working on my Ham Radio Shack and Commodore computer room, just about finished! I have setup my 128D workstation with an external 1571, and a pair of 1581 drives. Also have my Amiga 2000 set up. Put in new shelves for my C= library! Have a few cables yet to run and it will all be finished. For my fellow OM's, took a break and worked EU on 15! SF up to 115 this morning. Will post a few pics later this weekend.
  22. I would suspect the keyboard has had something spilled in it, or is just dirty. Try cleaning the right side of the KB with compressed air and check of any dirt that may be in there. Since that part of the keyboard (the numeric keypad) is not used in 64 mode, the problem may only show up while in 128 mode. You can take the case apart and remove the keyboard, clean it with a good cleaner, allow to dry for a day or two and see what happens. I've gone as far as soaking a KB in Oxyclean, rinsing with water, the letting it dry for a few days. Just remember to LET IT DRY before powering back up.
  23. Not much at the flea markets this weekend. Found a Gameboy Advanced case for $1.00 Pair of bongos for the Game Cube Donky Konga games for $3.00 Found a very clean Crystal Mines NES cart for $5.00 For my sons Amiga 500 I found a 100MB SCSI Zip drive with 10 unopened disks for $10.99
  24. The Tales of Symphonia alone is worth the $12. Good port from the Dreamcast. Guwah? Pretty sure symphonia is a GCN original. Maybe you're thinking of Skies of Arcadia Legends, DC ported to GCN? Right you are, I stand corrected. Still a good game.
