America is a country Europe isn't.
I was born in England which is in the UK so that makes me either English or British. Not European

LOL, I learned this lesson the first time I talked to a chap in Jersey over Ham Radio and I told him he was the first British guy I ever talked to. For the next 10 minutes I got a geography and history lesson.

Stopped by a local thrift today, been dried up for the past week or so.
Today I found Paper Mario for the N64, in box sans manual for $2.99!

-
All this Laser Disk talk has made me break out Moving Pictures by RUSH on vinyl.
Now that's the way music was meant to be heard. :-)

Hit a local flea today, hit on an Xbox console (no cords) with an Intec monitor attached for $15! The monitor works great and the Xbox even had a game in it. (nothing special)
Sold the console to a local game store owner for 5$. It pays to throw them a deal or two from time to time!

Does anyone here have a copy of the disk for the Microbotics StarDrive?
I have the MemTest disk but not the actual install disk.
Over on the Amiga.org site there is a message stating it's in "the Zone!", I'm assuming that's a depository somewhere on their site but since they are not accepting new members, I can not access it.
Thanks!

How's the A500 project going?

Scored a complete Super Scope in box for $10 at a thrift after work today. My manager said she saw "something nintendo" there so I checked it out only to find that.
Damn nice find!

Found a Flea Market while camping this weekend, not to much but did find a 7800 console with no hook ups for %5.00!
Looks good, mine has a bad power switch so for $5 it's worth the parts at least.

Found a couple of goodies at lunch today. Nothing great but one is a filler the other was $1.99.
Ghost Busters II for the NEW. $5
Monopoly for the 360. $1.99
No thrifts this weekend, going camping tomorrow for the weekend!

Stopped by one of my haunts at lunch and scored three NES games for $.69 each.
Sky Kid
Snake's Revenge
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Hehe

Yeah baby! Catch of the week for me.
Then at work someone who knows I'm into video games brought me a bag-o-stuff.
Inside a complete NES, and badly abused Super Famicom with about 8 or so Japanese games. Gotta sort it out to see what all there is, I know it has Star Fox, and what looks like an RPG. Hee Hee

Got the ROM yesterday. I just can't figure out why people don"t package IC's properly for shipping.
The guy I bought it from did the right thing in that he placed it on a piece of antistatic foam, but he just put it in an envelope.
So I look over the envelope and notice a hole in the middle of it, to my dismay I find inside a damaged IC, 5 pins on each side are folded over.
I got them straitened out and to my surprise it works good. But I was still mad as hell! I emailed the guy and gave his some grief about the situation, I just hope he does not do this to someone else. I'd rather pay a few extra dollars for better shipping than having to spend a half hour babying pins on an IC.Bottom line, the 2000 is upgraded to Kickstart ROM 3.1 and is now running WB 3.1 and Magic Workbench 2.0!
So if you order IC's from someone, stress good shipping habits to them.

Well I've decided to remove the battery from the extra RAM because the clock is useless + I don't even want to think about the battery leaking on the RAM board anytime soon.
Now the hunt for software starts, but before that it is a good idea to think about upgrading!
I'm going to do the HD/2 MB RAM route so I guess the A590 is in order. Also I see that people put in huge HDs for the Amigas so if possible can anyone give me the rundown on the A590 (and also if anyone has one for sale I might be interested in it!).
Also would it be a good idea to pick up the A570 CD-ROM drive for it as well?
If I have an Amiga I think for my best interest it would be best to "pimp" it out all the way.
The A590 is a good option, there are several but the A590 is good. If it does not come with a HD, then look for something around 500MB ~ 1GB range. That is a good starting point.
A new battery in there will have very little chance of leaking, the problem happens when the battery is 20+ years old. I'd go ahead and do it.
I would get the ROM upgraded to 3.1 then go with WB 3.1 (I can help you there). I'm looking for a 3.1 ROM myself, there are plenty on e-ripoff but I'd like to find one here. Anyone?
As for a CD, honestly I'd get an external SCSI Iomega 100MB ZIP drive rather than a CD. If you put one in your PC (IDE not SCSI) as well then you can transfer ADF and other files to the 500 in style. It would be a lot better investment.
Also get yourself a good power strip. I leave everything switched on and use the strip to turn on\off the system. It's hard to find new power switches for old equipment.

Great guy to deal with. First class act.

I'm surprised anyone is really being critical of the design of the SX-64. There's not much more you could cram into a transportable computer like that screen-wise at the time, and you can still use it like a regular C-64 and have it work with a monitor or TV.In fact, it's nearly exactly the same as a real C-64, save for the cassette port, but in the US in particular that was a non-issue since we pretty much standardized on disks by the time of the SX-64's release.
They were always super-popular at "copy parties" here in the U.S.
So were the MSD Dual drives!
I miss copy parties.

Nice.. I have a tech license. I have a Halicrafters s-38e that I recapped, an AM tube transmitter, AM two tube transmitter and a tuna can TX and RX. I have a RXTX softrock kit on order. I've never actually transmitted

Someday I will get an Amiga. In High School I saw my first one. I had a Laser 128EX but a friend from church had an Amiga with nude Samantha Fox pictures, Syndicate and Sim City. It was a great computer.
Nice gear. Sound like a home brewer!
I have built a lot of gear, mostly QRP stuff. My favorite is a little CW rig using a 6T9 compactron tube, won a local home brew night contest with it and got a $50 gift certificate.
A few years ago at the Dayton Hamfest I got to operate the original Doug DeMaw Tuna Tin transmitter, it's the Holy Grail of the QRP world. God I'm a nerd.

Samantha Fox was awesome and I love the old Demo's from the day. The Amiga and C=64 both had great games and is a must for any gamers.

Your Amiga setups looks pretty sweet Dan!
Thanks! I'm digging them more and more. Nice addition to the gaming collection. I have a ton of C=64 gear that I'm going through, brown and white 64's, 128's, and even a 128D to add to the setup.
Most likely will setup an old brown model since I have a nice 1702 monitor for it, and sell off the rest. I need to clean up the basement before the wife invites the crew of hoarders to my house.

WOW! Great deal for $40, and at that price the very least would recoup your investment.
The case looks very clean and well taken care of. Here's a tip! Remember that these units are around 20+ years old, take your time when removing and replacing screws in the case. Screws only need tightened enough to keep things together, not torqued down like a set of hemi heads on a 69 Roadrunner!
What I do is to use something like WD-40® on the screws before putting them back in, just a light coat on the screws and shake off any excess. Never spray a bunch into the holes where they go, this can actually make things worse.
Yes, replace the battery and it simply slides into place.
The switch on the rear of the drive is most likely a power switch. The external drives get their power via the cable, the switch simply cuts that line to power off the unit. Also, you can daisy chain up to 4 drives on the floppy bus, one internal and up to three external.
So where do you want to go from here? The system is pretty much game ready as it is. If it were mine (I hate it when people say that, but this is purely IMHO)I'd get the 2MB memory expansion card (with SCSI interface) and see what ROM you have so you can get up to Workbench 2.1 or 3.2.
Bottom line is, you did very well sir!

It really comes down to money! $$
Myself, I'd get the 500 and set it up. Then think about what you really want to do with it and make a plan.
For this system I would:
Upgrade the 512K ram.
Then look for a ram\scsi controller, these are not that expensive. Gives you 2MB and a HD.
Then I'd see what ROM it has then maybe upgrade that.
For the A500 a good kick ass gaming setup would be 2MB fast ram, a 300MB +/- hard drive, two floppies, and WB 2.1 or better. If you shop around and don't get in a hurry you can do this for under $200.
OK this is the post that is very useful. Remember the lot has an extra floppy drive included. If you are willing to help me out in the future making a kickass Amiga setup that would be excellent!
Looks like I'm picking this up today, but I do have until noon to make up my mind.
Dude I'll help out any way I can! I think a lot more here will to.
Get it, then let us know what you have and we'll go from there.
Sending you a PM!

How do you keep track of your collection?

I created an Excel spreadsheet. I track games for each system, inventory of systems and their accessories, items wanted, and keep a running total of all games in my collection.
If anyone wants it I'd be happy to share.
