  1. Wow. That's an enviable setup indeed. I like it an awful, awful lot. I grew up using a 128, so I have a lot of pleasant memories of the machine.

    Thanks Dave!

This is what I ran in the late 80's and then some! I work with modern computers and running the old Commodore is more fun today than it was back then. :-D

  2. Thanks Frank!

I've been trying to get caught up on stuff and somehow this got put into the front of the list. :)

Now i have another 128D to get working, two 1581's to prep for sell, sort through some Arati, Amiga, Ti-99 stuff to sell, then there's stuff around the house and my radio stuff.

I need a clone or two. :rolling:

  3. Been working too much and too many projects going on at once.

But at last my 128D setup is finished. Todays mail brought me the JiffyDOS ROMS for my second 1571 and the 1581, so now my 128D is loaded!

Installed is the Megabit Internal ROM, the JiffyDOS kernal and JiffyDOS ROMs for all three drives!

    She's a rocking now! :-D

  4. Hello,

Cleaning up the Radio\Commodore room and have for sale the following items:

I'm in Ohio and sales only to the US, sorry no international shipping.

#1 Commodore 1581 3.5" floppy drive with 10 formatted disks.

    1581a.jpg

#2 Commodore 1581 3.5" floppy drive with 10 formatted disks.

    1581b.jpg

I have tested both drives by formatting 20 disks, then doing random copying. Both work fine. Cosmetacially they are good, they do have a few scuffs but not bad for their age.

Asking $100.00 plus shipping for each drive.

#3 130+ misc. Commodore formatted 5.25" floppy dsks. Asking $22 shipped. SOLD

#4 Suncom Joystick. Works fine and looks good. Asking $25 shipped.

  5. Got to hit our local Paris Flea Market yesterday.

Saw (and passed on) a few good systems, boxed PS2 for $25, Xbox for $30, and a Gamecube for $25. All were complete and good prices for just starting out.

Saw the proverbial NES system with six VERY common games for $60, and a copy of SMB\Duck Hunt for $10.

BUT, I did snag an ALMOST complete boxed SNES Superscope for $8! All that is missing is the eye piece!

Found Paperboy for the Sega Genesis for $1, then four NES titles for a couple bucks each, Little Nemo, Zanac, Vega Dreams, and Boulder Dash.

    Not a bad weekend.

  6. Hit a couple of thrifts this weekend:

Two PS1 memory cards for $.75 each.

    GameBoy Games for $2.5 each:

    Donkey Kong Land 2

    Frogger

    Battleship

Sega Genesis games for $1 each:

    6-Pack

    Street Fighter Special Championship Edition

God of War II two disk set for $4.

Prince of Persia for the SNES for $3.

A first gen Nintendo DS with original stylus, soft case and car charger for $25.

Went to a local used game store and bought a DS game, they threw in a wall charger for free. It pays to shop there often and establish a good friendship!

  8. I dry them in the oven at 170 degrees F for about 20 to 25 minutes and they come out sparkling clean and toasty. Be sure to use oven mitts!

As far as oven drying, to me the best way (and I know others have their own proven method) is to preheat the oven to 175, turn it off THEN place the board in the oven and keep it in there for two to three hours and let it cool down slowly. Always make sure it's completely dry at any rate.
