The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
Shephda replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Found a CIB Sega Saturn Baku Baku for a $1.99 at a local thrift today. Looked for the Saturn but not to be found. -
I once bought a N64 that had grape juice spilled into the console. It was so bad that the power and reset buttons would stick if pressed, otherwise it worked just fine. I took the entire system apart down to the last screw. Filled the kitchen sink with hot water and a generic oxy-clean type of cleaner. I even put the mother board in! I let it sit for a couple of hours then started cleaning using different types of brushes until I had everything shiny as the day it was first opened. I took an air compressor to the motherboard and got all the water blown out as best I could. I set it aside for three days to completely dry. The plastic parts came out perfect, no labels came off or were hurt. When I re-assembled it, the N64 worked like new. As for the dishwasher, I'm not a fan because a good soaking for a couple of hours often does a lot better than a few minutes of water splashing around. Just my .02

PM sent to Marius1976!

I retract that! They are black with yellow labels. Sorry I'm at work and I only run with 16K memory.

I'm with you Ax. No AS IS labeling trumps mold. I'm hyper sensitive to mold myself, I can walk into a house and smell it when others can't. Hang in there brother!

Thanks for the replies. I knew their value without manuals\boxes is less, I just wanted an idea of what to ask for them. I don't put stuff like this on eBay unless it's worth the hassle. I'm not an Atari 8-bit user (C= man myself) but figured someone will want them and I don't want to look stupid asking $100 for them. Thanks again guys! Dan

Hello all, I received today the above mentioned carts for the Atari. I know they are programming utility carts, but would like to get an idea of their value. Thanks for the help. Dan

Find yourself a good disk cleaner, then check the alignment of your drives. The floppies hold up well over the years, but the drives have issues staying aligned. I conservatively have about 1000 disks that have all held up these 25+ years.

What are your Fave. Mastertronic games? (C64)

Thanks for the link, that is nice reading.! -
Thanks! I love having the real books. Plus when the Zombie Apocalypse breaks out I'll have something to read.

Ok, finally got my C128D and my other C= stuff together and setup in the radio room. Decided to pack up the Amiga, it was distracting me from my beloved 128D. So here is the new line up: C128D 1571 1581 x2 1902 C2N Star NX1000C Super Snapshot V4 Supra modem interface to PC running BBS Server. Now I have to sort through a ton of disks and get then in order.

Thanks! I'm starting to amass a good collection of boxed C42\128 software. So much in fact I may be facing selling off my Amiga stuff. (I can hear save2600 yelling blasphemer now). But my C= collection has blossomed so big this year that I only have room for one or the other. My heart will always be with my beloved C64\128 so for me the choice is easy.

Hello, I need a power cord for a Blue Chip 1541 clone drive. Thanks, Dan
-
Yeah, I've picked up 3 in this condition this year. One was a boxed unit complete. I decided to keep this one as I feel my luck might run dry. Been getting a lot of C= stuff come my way this year, I'm scared I might be featured on an upcoming episode of Hoarders.

Hello all, I have for sale a very nice and very uncommon (I hate it when people use RARE) C-128 setup. Everything works great, the 128 power supply has some yellowing, all else has some slight normal wear marks. I'd give the overall appearance an 8\10. The Command Center comes in it's original shipping box (no inserts, but I don't think it had them) and includes the slot filler for using a single drive. Ketek Command Center for the C-128 Commodore 128 Commodore 1571 Suncom joystick All the necessary power cables. PLEASE NOTE: THE MONITOR AND VIDEO CABLES SHOWN ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. Asking $200.00 plus shipping. Would like to keep shipping to the US because of price and hassle.

And that shows that you are a good parent. You are instilling values into your child that will make his behavior such that you will never have to resort to such drastic discipline. In some cases it's necessary to be firmer with a child. The worst I ever had to do was one time my eldest daughter (around 12 years old at the time) absolutely refused to clean her room. I'm not talking simple picking up a pair of socks and making her bed, I mean her room was a MESS. I told her one last time either she cleans it up or I do and it all goes in the trash. After filling three bags with her cloths and misc stuff, she finally broke and saw I was not kidding. Never had that problem again. She's 24 now and when we laugh about that sh still gives me THAT look. She's now an RN and a wonderful young woman.
