  1. Years ago I worked at IBM doing tech support for the Thinkpad. My boss was one of the original techincians on the IBM PC. We often had talks about how stressful the job could be. I worked with a guy that literally had to spend a half hour outside of the building psyching himself up to go inside to work.
  2. Yes, its the box on top of the Supra. It's very likely that if you had seen one it probably did not say Talon. As far as I can tell Talon Technology Inc, was the US distributor. In the UK it looks like it was sold by Condor Trading Ltd. The unit itself looks to be manufactured by Siemens for Beta Systems Computer in Germany. I've got to say I'm very impressed by the units performance - given the time it was released of course, and given that all I/O and all video from the unit is passed over the DMA port. A unique way of doing things for sure. It even manages to play Artic Fox on the IBM. Did Talon ever release the mini-vga board? How well does Artic Fox run? I would imagine that is CGA?
  3. Not getting to my Parents house fast enough before my Dad recycled my complete collection of Electronic Games, Electronic Fun and Creative Computing magazines. That was hard to type.
  4. It sounded like a gang war going on... Tap Tap Tap Tap (pause) Tap Tap Tap Tap (pause) Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap (pause), etc. That thing was LOUD! Tempest LOL. I think I actually jumped when I first printed something out on the Adam.
  5. That's funny, but I bet you scared the hell out of your neighbors when it printed that thing.
  6. I remember 5200 Soccer was another one. tjb Actually all of the Real Sports games were converted.
  7. Ya, I've been doing this swap meet thing for years and when I started the Chuck most of the items that were put up were my swap meet finds. And I've done it ever since. So yes, some of this stuff will be listed today. I am really torn on the Dark Tower though. Been wanted one but $150 or so on Ebay. I picked this one up for $4 I had the Snoopy radio when I was little and haven't seen one since. This is like new in the box And works from 1974. You need to keep them both. You'll never find another Dark Tower for 4 bucks.
  8. Here's a better question. Why didn't Coleco release 5200 versions of their games?
  9. I saw that. Is that for real? Oh and the greatest chase scene in film history is the mall chase in the Blues Brothers. Which ironically was in Chicago. Not sure of its proximity to the basement though..
  10. You can use all of the ST accessories with the Mega series. Below is a link to the Atari Magazines Start article on the MegaST. It has all of the specs and even a motherboard layout for you to look at. http://www.atarimagazines.com/startv2n3/mega4.html
  11. First off, congrats on the pickup. That is a pretty sweet deal. The first thing I would get is a color and or monochrome monitor as the Mega does not have RF. Which version of TOS is installed?
  12. Watch him have one. That would be amazing.
  13. Would you be talking about the MW Ruth catalog? I have one around here somewhere.
  14. Wow. I guess I need to get a Vic-20 now. Is the www site still up? It currently is not working.
  15. Hopefully this helps. Disk_Memory_System.pdf
  16. What immediately came to my mind was: Not only Coleco did that. In fact, I think even Atari did it. Do you know the C64 version of Galaxian? Compare it to the Atari-8bit-version... The C64 version looks and sounds like crap, and it doesn't play nearly as well as the Atari 8-bit version. Yeah, Atari made both versions. I think that's very suspicious, as the possibilites of both machines are very comparable, but the C64 version is FAR inferior. Do you agree? Perhaps this thread can be used to collect some more examples of this "marketing trick"... I hope this is the right board, couldn't figure any place where this thread would fit better... Funny that you would think that because I used to think that the Atarisoft games were too good. I think with very few exceptions (if any) that they were pretty outstanding. The Vic20 ports immediately come to mind.
  17. Biddi-biddi-biddi 5200. Although Dr Theopolis preferred the Adam version.
  18. Awwww.... I hope you manage to raise cash in other ways than selling your Falcon... Could be something you will regretting after you part with it. In my experience when you sell something like that you always end up spending more to reacquire it. Glad to see that you don't need to sell it!
  19. Same problem... You guys need to try mTelnet. Works great. http://ozone.eesc.com/
  20. For all its faults Home Run was not that bad. As far as any Atari goes, it has to be Star League Baseball for the 8bit. Best Baseball game in my opinion. Let's Go Phillies!
