ehm, not in my Atari800win version????Try to switch off all disks.
F.
When playing Berzerk through SIO2PC I hear the speech, but when I fire at the enemies there is no sound. I tried the same images through Atari800Win and the sounds are there. I am using an Atari 800.
Yes, you're right. Person who made file version forgot to initialise Pokey chip. Check my site for fixed version.
F.
The file worked perfectly. Thanks again.

I think that when people state that the CV version is so great, they are comparing it to the major competition of the time, the Atari 2600 and the Mattel Intellivision ports. In that instance, yes the CV version is amazing but not a perfect translation of the arcade original in any right. There were definately better versions on lesser known consoles and/or home computers though. The ADAM version, while graphically identical to the CV version, is closer in gameplay to the arcade version due to the extra storage space allowed on the Data Packs vs. that of a cartridge. The ADAM version includes animations, cut scenes, springboards, and a super sweet high score save feature. I've got a few copies each of some of the ADAM supergame packs and it's hilarious to see that high scores are still saved on them some 25 years later. Especially the ones where the crafty children entered swear words as their names!Do you have a dsk version of Donkey Kong for the Adam? That file is impossible to find.

It still has better sound than the 7800 version.

You said pressing Select fixes it...When it screws up, does the game audio keep going normally? And when you hit Select, it recovers fully?
Or does it crash when it screws up, and after you hit Select, you still have to reboot?
Since I replaced the power supply I have not had an issue. Before that I would hear the game sound, but the screen would either go black or garbled. If I applied pressure to the select or start buttons or in some cases the lid of the 800 it would clear up.

I get the below screen at times when playing games. If I hold down the select key it will sometimes correct the issue. Anyone else ever have this issue? Thanks for any assistance.
If you're using an RF TV/Computer switchbox, then I'd try a new switchbox or better yet, directly connect the computer to the TV. If your TV has composite video input, then you'll get a better picture if you connect the Atari monitor port to the TV composite input.
It is connected through the monitor port. I found a replacement power supply that I have been testing and so far have not had any issues. At one point it appeared it was going to resurface but it didn't. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Folks,Today I found my Atari BBS partition ... and restored it on a fresh HD. It is the BBS that I took down late september 2007. So it is back...
I'm not sure if it will stay online. I'm not sure how reliable it is, and I might need the atari again. So sometimes I'll take it off when I want to play with the atari myself. On the moments I'm not using the atari the BBS is online.
I have no space to setup another atari just for the BBS.
So give it a try. The old user-database is still active, so if you already have an account on my BBS... please do not create a new account. Please send me a PM on this board if you lost your account info, and I'll PM you back with the info.
The BBS is not able to answer multiple visitors at the same time, so when you can't get a connection, the bbs is down or occupied by another. Sorry for that. You don't get a fancy message when that happens (that's boring... i know)
good luck and happy BBS'ing:

Thanks Marius. I will give it a go later tonight.

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.

that is a cool presentation. Sooooooooooo 70's in the fonts and color choices. I surprised those IBMs weren't available in avocado and orange like home appliances back then
That's pretty cool. I am a little surprised to see the term "virtual storage" used. I didn't realize that term is that old.

I went to the flea market off highway 92 Saturday on the way home from visiting a friend, and managed to snag four carts for the 8-bit for a total of $10.Would that be highway 92 in Kennesaw (or maybe Acworth), Georgia? There used to be a guy there who sold mostly NES and SNES games, but had a decent selection of 2600 carts... I never saw any 8-bit stuff though.
Maybe 10-12 years ago I used to find Commodore 64 stuff there, but never Atari 8-bit.
I'm rather impressed with what I found. So am I, especially if it's the same flea market I think it is.
Where exactly is this place?

What is annoying is having to deal with the 50hz flicker. I'm still looking for a copy of F19 that I can run from my HD that doesn't have the damn 50hz flicker.
I never thought the flicker was that bad. Or at least it never appeared that bad on my monitor.
Not too bad here either. Worst case scenario, you might have to adjust the vertical hold.

Awesome reads on Landon's blog. Here is the link to the Atari ST and Donkey Kong related stories. I hope Landon finds time to write a book about his time at Atari. Here's a great story of when he was asked to participate in a Secret Service RAID...

It hit an alias at work today.

Thanks, I missed this one. What a story.

20 years ago she was state of the art.... heh.OKAY.. Question for all you freaky dudes (yeah, like Abba said, everyones a freak)...
In the early 1990's there was a video game magazine publication that featured teen girls, holding, playing and generally showing off video games while wearing lots of lace and skimpy apparel. I saw this magazine in CUB foods in Milwaukee Wisconsin every time I went shopping as a teen with my parents, but never bought any of them, or recall the name. no one ever seems to even know that mag existed. FYI, it wasn't porn, but very similar to the above photo being discussed.

I think in most of the import game magazines from the UK they had women in the advertising holding game gears and other systems in front of the their MLY.
Again, with those Limey Brits
.... Hornballs, the whole lot of them. Can anyone confirm or deny any publication name.
(yeah, I know I'm the one askin. I have bad teeth, guess I'm an honorary Brit)

I know they were in the SEGA and Nintendo magazines. I can't remember the names though.

Every now and then I read about someone wanting to run a BBS - either here on AA or in my email box or as a feedback on my bbs. Earlier this week I started playing around with setting up a bbs program (BBS:Express 850 v1.0) on the emulator (similar to what I do on my bbs). I put the whole thing on a 500mb USB memory stick (hence the name). It is a complete working BBS - ready for you to copy to your own USB memory stick and run it on a PC. For that matter, it may also run on a real A8 machine but I haven't tested that. It include the Atar ATR files and the PC emulator (a800win 2.5c) that I use here on mine. It's on my website under the 'FILES' section! - bf.amfband.com
Thanks. Great timing as I was thinking of looking into starting a BBS soon.

I always hear how Nintendo considered Radar Scope a failure, but in our arcade everybody loved that machine.
