1. I'm also sharing them on my Google Drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1i_uZ08oLdrzB3iyNGWKv_T_bj5aWbOcq?usp=sharing
2. Great version of the game. I played a few games and got to Building 5. Never got that far before. The sky transitions are nice. And if you fall from the top of the building you get to see all the transitions on the way down. lol I did run into a glitch. On my first attempt i died on the 1st building and when i hit the disc to restart i could go up any of the windows. Could only go right and left. I even hit reset on the console and still couldn't go up the windows. But i did a hard reset back to the Flashcart (Backbit) menu and back into the game and the issue disappeared. I played a few times after that the issue didn't come back. Not a big deal.
3. Any Intellivision game that saves to flash like on the LTO can also save the same way on the Backbit. Here is a video showing off the better music with the ECS and loading a save. The title screen music is much more robust with the ECS plugged in. Ignore that graphic on the right. I use that for my youtube streams and forgot to turn it off. 😁
4. Yes it does. I did have to convert it with Bin2ecs though.
5. That game does work on the Backbit but i don't own it. But someone else got it to work. You have to set use Bin2ecs and set the -j flag. But i only know how to do that on Windows. https://forum.backbit.io/index.php?topic=917.msg6818#msg6818 There was a Backbit update where some games you no longer have to set the -j flag but you still have to use Bin2ecs like you would Bin2rom. But i don't know if this game is one of those.
6. The Backbit does support JLP. Which game is it anyway?
7. Evie is not around at the moment but i asked on the Backbit forum and got a response from someone. I can answer the general question of how to convert BIN/CFG files to ROM files using bin2rom on a Mac, but I am still awaiting my BackBit Pro, so I cannot test to ensure the results will work (yet). Please note that this will require a familiarity and comfort downloading and running apps not signed in the AppStore (i.e. jzintv's utilities like bin2rom) and working with the Terminal application (i.e. the Mac command line interface). Anyone following the instructions below is completely responsible for the results (good or bad) of any commands executed when attempting to follow these instructions. It's pretty simple stuff, but you must proceed at your own risk. -=Download jzintv=- 1. Download the latest version of jzintv (which is currently jzintv-20200712-osx-sdl2). 2. Unzip the archive. 3. Navigate to the folder titled bin in the jzintv folder you just created. 4. Copy the BIN/CFG files you want to convert to the bin folder. TIP: Try it with one game to start and make sure both the BIN and CFG files are named the same (example: ADND.bin & ADND.cfg). -=Prepare the utility to be executed=- 5. Locate the Unix executable file named bin2rom. 6. Right click (or hold down the control key and click) on this file. 7. Select Open from the menu that appears. 8. When the Mac dialog box opens with the message, "macOS cannot verify the developer of “bin2rom”. Are you sure you want to open it?", click the button titled Open. NOTE: You will only have to do this once for each Executable file you want to run. -=Run bin2rom=- 9. Open the Terminal app. It's located in your Applications folder inside another folder named Utilities. NOTE: The last step should have opened Terminal, but this will help you for later sessions. 10. Use the cd command to point the terminal app to your jzintv's bin folder. Mine was downloaded to my Downloads folder and I was already in my user folder, so the command to achieve this was:
cd Downloads/jzintv-20200712-osx-sdl2/bin
11. Enter the following command to change ADND.bin & ADND.cfg into ADND.rom:
./bin2rom ADND.bin
NOTE: the "./" at the beginning of this command is critical to success. It tells the Terminal application that you want it to look in the current folder for bin2rom. Let me know if this worked or didn't work for you. I'll be happy to follow up with clarifications and/or guidance as needed.
8. I wish i could help but i don't have a Mac but maybe someone else might know. But i'd also ask over in the Backbit forums. Maybe Evie will know.
9. Might be a good idea to ask this same question over on the Backbit forums. Evie is very active there and since she created the backbit she will know what it takes to get a game to work. https://forum.backbit.io/index.php
10. An issue i see is, some of those homebrews are paid roms i'm not so sure how the publishers would feel about having cfg's of their games just posted freely on the internet. I know it's just a document file and you can't actually play the game without the rom itself. But it's still a grey area. And after the last incident it's probably best not to do so.
11. No problem. I'm still playing through the game. 😁
12. I deleted my video and made a new one showing off the commands i didn't show last time.
13. Evie also said this about the new ECS keyboard update but haven't tested it yet.
14. It works good on the C64. I like finding games that can actually save and load. Sometimes i have to search all over. I started a collection of ones found to save. It's a small collection so far. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OMH73_VKNVycilnwJL_4Gn3N7mY1W3pz/view?usp=drive_link
15. Evie just added support for the ECS Keyboard so now you can use it to rename files and use it to search for roms in folders. Also use the arrow keys to cycle through roms and folders, RTN to select and ESC to go back. Not sure what else it can do. But that's what i found so far. Download Firmware 3.7.6 Some functions need to be used in combination with the Intellivision controller.
16. It happened again last night. But this time it was the Rock Mountain Cave. After venturing through the cave and leaving safely i went south to venture around and died. After leaving the castle grounds i was warped back to the entrance to that Cave. It's quite possible it does this for all the caves. Not a big deal.
17. I don't know if this is a glitch or not. But when i was playing it the other day and was fighting the Green Dragon and if he killed me i got warped back to Tantegel Castle which is normal. But if i left the castle grounds i wasn't right next to the castle but it warped me right back to the Swamp Cave. I'm not sure if that is an intended mechanic or a glitch.
18. It's a great product. It's not 100% perfect for all systems. But if you wanted one for multiple systems it's excellent. I have one and adapters for the Intellivision, 2600, 7800, 8-bit, Colecovision, C64 and Master System. Technically there are better flashcarts for the Atari Systems and C64 but there isn't much i haven't gotten to work on the Backbit. For the Intellivision and other systems it can play every game in the library. And the customer service and updates are top notch.
19. I have downloaded 3 sets, Homesoft, Mr. Robots and A8 Fandal. I converted the Homesoft collection for myself but thought i'd share it. I do also track down already converted games as well when i can't find a working copy. Sometimes i find what i'm looking for and sometimes i don't. Took me a while to find a copy of Beach Head that worked. My next goal is to find a copy of Telengard that saves to flash. Not sure if there is a copy out there.
20. Here is something else for Backbit users. It could help other people as well. I had downloaded the Homesoft collection but barely any game would work. I wasn't sure if it was an incompatibility with my Xegs or my Backbit but i converted them all from .xex to .car and now a majority of the games work. There are still plenty that don't. They could be Pal or some other incompatibility. I converted them to Multi Carts. I filled each one to the max. It would of taken forever to convert 4,500 files individually. This also could be good for those who want a more compact version of the Homesoft collection. It is missing the the Disk Games folder. I did not mess with those. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ydf0dR1sc-rcszzZ5taXzxCMdtHzAlWN/view?usp=sharing
21. I'm a newer owner of an Atari Xegs and a Backbit Pro Flash Cartridge so i thought i'd start a thread to discuss it. This is only my second time owning an Atari computer. The first time was an Atari 800xl a few years back but only had a couple games for it and ended up selling it. But this time around i'm in love with it. As of earlier today Evie released a new firmware update that added flash support for AtariMax carts "The saving I implemented should support any AtariMax 1MB title". So now you can save with it. I am attaching a copy of Alternate Reality The Dungeon i found that can save with the Backbit. Very exciting. So now i'm trying to find a copy of Temple of Apshai Trilogy that can save with the BB. I found a copy that was posted on Atarimax back in 2007. But it's in .atr and those can't be played on the BB. I also found a thread right here where someone posted a .car version of the same file. It does load and it does save, but when you reload the save or just leave the dungeon and re-enter. the graphics get corrupted. I was this close to finding what i wanted lol. Maybe someone here can help. I included both of those as well Also links to the original threads. https://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=659&hilit=apshai+save Alternate Reality - The Dungeon.zip Temple of Apshai Trilogy (1mb maxflash image allows game save).zip
22. Just a bump for this great product. (This is not a paid endorsement. I get nothing for this but i'm just a fan of it) The Backbit has been able to play every Intellivision game i have. Even Homebrews. It even plays games with math routines like Fubar that people thought it could not do. Some games need to be converted to play but 99% of them are easy drag and drop conversions. A very very small handful of games need to converted with the Windows command line but that is not many at all and i have a tutorial on how to do that. With recent firmware updates not as many games need to converted with the command line. And once in a while a new Homebrew may need it's CFG file modified to get the game working but Evie has been able to help with that on the Backbit forum. I have 500+ roms (games/demos/hacks) on my Backbit and everything plays. And JLP games that have a save feature also save on the Backbit. One last thing is you can buy separate adapters for other classic consoles and computers. That's a plus if you collect other systems. I currently have 7 adapters myself. You can check out everything here. https://store.backbit.io/product/backbit-pro/
