No there yet ...
Are you guys capable of getting the shark above 90K?
I had 26 lives at 90K!!!
I thought i was still killing the Shark at 90k, but i just had to take a nibble and run, take a nibble and run. But i'm not 100% sure. Need to play it again to make sure.

tie-breaking score.
104,450
just realized anything is possible with shark! shark!
go for the fin lol.
Looks like we got a race.
Gonna have to see what i can do tomorrow.
Nice job dude.

Awesome dude, totally awesome. The competition is getting fierce now.
I need to play some more and see if i can improve any. Haven't played since i got that score.

I joined after you all finished the BurgerTime run (I would had gone insane playing it on the slower speed that was setp for the challenge), but the HSC does bring life back into, lets face it, a 30-year old game and system.
I was checking out the Twin Galaxies site recently, and their setting for submitting scores on Burgertime is using the Slow setting. Ouch. I also thought the medium speed for the contest was too slow, i couldn't imagine using the slow setting. lol

I AM SOOOOO PISSED at the moment, I was at 96,550 (with 15 lives left - Yes they were disappearing like someone was just counting them out like rgw's video), and then Nostalgia locked up so the game ended there without a DAMN PIC or VIDEO (GRRRRRRRR!!!) My best game yet of this infuriating game, and no proof

Ah, I believe it. You done great so far in this Intellivision HSC. This game should be no
acception.
This game for me, is the easiest so far of HSC. That is untill 90,000. I had about 30 lives
untill I hit the 90k then they start to "float" away. Demon Attack on the other hand was "hell" for me! Hitting the 6,000 mark on that one, and I called it a "job well done" and quit my torture there.

Same here, had a hard time with Demon Attack and Beauty & the Beast. I actually thought all these years i was damn good at B&TB, that was until this challenge and seen i was really an amateur lol.
My only 2 good games have been Burgertime and Shark! Shark! so far. Can't wait to see how i compare at other games.

- Screenshots of your score are not necessary but are encouraged for higher scores. -
The cart slot is touchy I cant get any EA games to work. Is there any easy way to clean it? Also the 32x is wobbly when it is in the slot.
You mean EA games on the CDX? I have the same problem. Never did find a solution. But i did have a long discussion here about it. They made me think it was just my console.

How much does it go for loose? Nobody even bid on this one.

damn you ,rgw825........how did you get so good

Sorry lol
I've known this game inside out since i was a kid. It just took a few games to shake 20 years of rust off.
Oh goodie... I'm not gonna get passed 100,000. Someone give me a break, I only owned/played this game since middle of March 2010. LOL.
But cparsley is inching ever closer at 79,000... give it a week he'll get there.
90,000 is too fast to keep killing the shark but at 100,000 I see it's not even possible to nibble the tail anymore.
TWIN GALAXIES scores are 110,000 for 1st and 2nd..
and 3rd is like 92,400.

Your doing great dude. Especially for only playing it for less than a month. Your giving me a run for my money.
I didn't know i was close to the world record. Wow lol. I bet if played just a tad better i could take it.

103,200
I got lucky and got like over 50 extra lives early in the game. After i hit 100,000 i recorded the last few minutes of the game. It got obscenely difficult. if you thought the Shark was fast at 90,000 you ain't seen nothing yet lol. It may impossible to kill him after 100,000.

Intellivision dude, thanks for the tips! i hope to get a pic up this weekend. keep those videos coming.

No Problem, will do.
-
Well, i tried to do something different. I was gonna attempt to spice up the competition and post a video submission (not even sure if that's allowed). I was gonna try and improve on my score but i didn't make it.
But if you want to watch it anyway here it is. If anything maybe it will get more people interested in playing. Or it could help people out.

You can eat the lobster only when it's jumping up ?
That is correct.
The manual says you can kill the Lobster and Crabs when they are falling. But i'm almost 100% positive you can kill them on the way up too. Just make sure your a size 4 or 5.
-
The manual says you get an extra life for every Shark, Crab or Lobster you kill.
And there is one more way to get an extra life. Normally for every 1,000 points you grow a size, but after you get to the biggest size (size 5) you can't grow anymore so it will then award you with a free life for every 1,000 after.
So you can an obscene amount of lives like Astrosmash. But the game gets so difficult after a while it is easy to lose those lives 1 after another.
But you do get more points for nibbling the Sharks tale at size 5 so that may explain how i got a couple extra lives so quick in my video when i nibbled his tale.
-
I used to own that as a kid. Had a lot of fun with it. If i wasn't dead broke i'd be interested.

I love this game
I had the hardest time getting a clean picture using an old school tv. That light blue is hard to snap. The flash worked better than no flash.
88,400

Here are some tips. I recorded this a month ago to help out some friends.
I will also add, that when the game gets super fast and super hard, the shark is so much harder to kill. I had to change the way i killed him. I had to take a quick nibble then run away, wait for him to change directions and come back at you, and do the same, one nibble and run.

I forgot about this glitch in Slam Dunk Super Pro Basketball when your player will float off out of bounds.
Here is a video of it i recorded.
-
I'm sure similar things have happened to me, like the music. I just can't remember any of them right off bat.
The one i do remember is the Burgertime one. Where you drop the last bun and die from an enemy at the same time. First you get the death animation, then a couple seconds later it changes to the victory animation. But i think the same thing happens in other versions of Burgertime as well.
Sometimes when i reset the game instead of a green title screen, it will turn purple.
I'm sure there has been others but i can't remember them right off hand. But if i run across any in the future i'll be sure to add them here.

Is this the one where the people beat the monkey on the head with the rubber hammers? Such a weird video...
Yup lol.
I have it on VHS. They say a lot of things in the movie were staged and not real like the Monkey scene.

I am interested in knowing a little more about this latest Intellivision II controller variation i just got in the mail. Here's a couple vids, first one of me opening them and testing them out, and the second comparing them to the other controllers.
I am including pictures below. The ones i just got, the numbers aren't raised at all, the entire keypad is smooth all the way across. But it has the same texture as one of my other controllers. The disc has a gritty surface instead of the smooth surface discs on all other controllers. But what i don't know is if all the controllers discs came like that brand new or not and maybe the grit just got wore off over the years? Also the new ones only say "Hong Kong" on the back. All the others say "Mattel Inc. 1982 Hong Kong" on them.
The gritty disc is easier to use, my thumb doesn't slide off as much. I'd have to do more testing, but with an overlay inserted it may be easier to press a button with a smooth surface.
Pics
The one i just got with smooth keypad and gritty disc and says Hong Kong only on back

Second variation. Same textured number pad but with raised numbers

Third variation. It has slick and shiny raised numbers

That is correct.. this actually has lit a burrr in my butt I might have to pull the cam out to actually do REAL REVIEWS lol
We need more Intellivision video reviews out there. I have done a few Youtube videos. Mine are more Gameplay videos than reviews. But i try my best to fill the void for Intellivision videos on Youtube.

Won a pair of joystick add-ons the other day for $7.29 total. Good deal, imo, but the seller's in Venezuala (or Panama apparently, wtf?) and it'll take about a month to arrive.

I've seen different kinds of these before (only in pictures, never in person) but i've never actually tried one. Even if they don't work as good as i hope, i'm only out 7 bucks and at least i'll have a new-to-me inty toy to play with.

Just a note to those interested, joystick add-ons arrived yesterday & work fine. A little patience is all it took.
fwiw, I'd buy INTV products from this ebayer again.
Same here, i bought these mint controllers off the same seller and i received them yesterday. Controllers look like they had never been used, ever.
