Yeah I have a U1MB of course.....who can live without one And yes AtariBlast runs just fine on my 600XL->64KB->U1MB machine
-
Another vote for going Sdrive-Max instead of SIO2SD...
-
Another pointless conversion....sorry ....but having owned the Star Wars Cockpit arcade machine.......this even doesn't deliver 5% of the fun of the game.....
-
Yeah.....dying to get an AVG cart for months now..... Just ran the "old" version of SH from The!Cart....the immediate loading -is- very nice...

using the SDRIVE-MAX in conjunction with other drives

Does anybody have a decent picture how to solder the diode ? -
I can load AtariBlast from Sdrive-Max. There's a version called AB1088 or something like that on my SD card which I must have downloaded a little while ago....It sure takes a bit of time to load though.... So this could be done with Space Harrier too I guess ? The!cart is great, IMHO still the fastest and nicest user interface for loading stuff, but the update process on the A8 simply cripples it IMHO....

Uh....OK, you have to press the number 6 key one time on both versions to set Trigger 1 to BOTH....and indeed that's a bit hard with a XEGS without keyboard.... sorry...I thought it was the default setting on at least one version. But in honor of it's creator, you should play the version he released....and that is also the only version that supports a Megadrive double button input....
-
Ah OK....damn.... I haven't used a Mac to A8 connection since ages....In fact....where did I put that Lotharek USB to SIO connector ?!?!?
-
Ohh geez, Just switched to PAL ANTIC and....now about everything looks pink The speed is closer to the arcade version as I remember it though.... Is there some GTIA version checking/adjusting going on in this version of Ms.Pac ?
-
This ATR version works !!! Thanks !!! It loads a bit "strangely"....I mean loading sounds are different from usual Hi-speed SIO....but I don't mind as long as it works. Has this been optimized for PAL ? I just played with NTSC ANTIC and colors look a bit washed out on the red ghost and the speed seems to be a little too fast compared to arcade....then again....it has been some time since I sold my Ms.Pac Man machine......
-
Uhh....this probably won't load in any format from an Sdrive-max right ? I've plaid it....did I run it from MyIDE II or The!Cart ?!?!? Can't remember !

Woohoooo ! -
Uh, the default setting lets you fire AND drop bombs at the same time. I’ve been plating like that units I received a cheap Megadrive compatibel pad controller......but it sucks balls and to be honest.....the combined firing/bombing isn’t bad at all.....
-
Dude......it was a little joke. And now my head hurts and it is your fault....... there that was another little joke.
-
Simply........amazing !!!!!!!!

Argh....good old NTSC.....still Never The Same Color...... How does one correctly calibrate a NTSC or PAL CRT/real Atari ? Wait a minute......with my Sophia equipped 600XL the color pot does nothing anymore using the RGB output....so this is probs ly a useless exercise.....must say I have nothing at all to complain about the colours, both with NTSC ANTIC or PAL ANTIC selected. AFAIK Sophia recognises what ANTIC is in use and adjusts color Palette according to it......
-
Yes it is and there are no other problems with loading stuff so that's not it.

1088XLD - Custom A8 Computer in 1050 Drive Case

I agree, compared to some other brands......you know what.....the A8 VLSIs are very robust. I only once received a bad POKEY which sings out of tune. Came from a former Atari Benelux Employee. Kept it for fun.... -
You can get SD cards with those sizes for 20 euro these days....who would want old risky mechanical slow drives ?
-
Is there any reason why this doesn't load on my system ? 600XL with U1MB, Sophia, AntiX (Both NTSC/PAL ANTIC setting do not work), loading the XEX from Sdrive-Max It does show the title-screen fine, then continues to load after price fire, then after some time....just a black screen ?
-
Doesn't it take quite long for a PI to boot ? IMHO Sdrive-Max is a cheaper, faster (boots almost instantly) alternative.
-
Ah yes...of course....
-
Looks GREAT !

Yeah I read about the change in screensaving. Sounds some good improvements.made. Now still wishing for the simple if-then I really need to read-up on how that Github stuff works.... -
Fixed the keyboard side of things. I puzzled around but decided to go for this method using hot glue. I cut back the Mylar quite a bit. The PCB is angled compared to the metal plate. The connector is parallel to the diagonal fold in the metal. That seemed like a good point to glue it. The benefit of this was alto that the soldering sunder the PCB were not going to short to the metal. I used hot glue liberally to ensure further insulation. I pre-heated the metal of the keyboard so that the hot glue didnt set instantly. With hindsight, I could have designed the PCB to use some of the small screw holes, although this would have made the PCB quite a bit larger. Also, the old large connector for the Mylar would have been better to install angled....but hey...this works fine too . If anyone is interested to apply this to their XLs.... I still have plenty of the PCBs and FFC connectors and cables available.
