  1. Please write my name on the list for 1 LOOSE copy of one of your next batch of EOTB´s! (^^Is this definite?)
  2. When you start to compile the next list, let us know. Til then, I hope some of the many German EOTB-players will have written some more nice reviews Tempest2K and I will be twiddling our thumbs til then
  3. Yes, you can actually use any one. Make sure it gives 1 A. On the other hand, they are not that expensive because they aren´t rare. For a new unused boxed UK Atari Lynx power plug + adaptor I paid 10 Euros at an ebay pro dealer in Germany.
  4. I got it last month from Nick Harlow´s 16/32 shop. ^^Nice set. Enjoy your Lynx.
  5. Yes, he said so above "early fall" is fine for me.
  6. Kid´s birthdays at my place when we played 2600 games in turns before going out in the woods. Mario Bros, Ms. Pac-Man, Bobby geht nach Hause. Quite a number of my friends had the 2600 in the 80ies. Age was about late elementary school/early "high school" years. And at another one´s birthday party (boys´ birthday parties, presents and cake first, then video games, then outside for football, capture the flag or minigolf...), sitting around a c64 with datasette loader: Donkey Kong, Blue Max, Teacher Busters. We must have been loud! Later my 2600 served to keep my cousins quiet in a similar manner, taking turns and commenting, usually with loud 1980ies pop music on. Now that I realize it, the way the GBA cartridge /Playstation collection "Activision Anthology" is presented, it was damn realistic! Only the encouraging shouts (and the cake) are missing!
  7. I came into GGíng last year, got a non-working (!) one (yes, capacitors...) and 4 games for 20 Euro. So in January this year, I got another one and asked before this time (!). Sound is whispering quiet but it´s ok otherwise. Abt double price but now I got about 20 games and could replace the broken battery cover on the "new" one . My faves are the 4 in 1 "Outrun" (like it more than the outright Outrun), and all Sonic titles! "Tom and Jerry" is also very fine. "Columns" and "Solitaire" are pretty good. It also has a very playable "Super Off Road" verison. ^^I played them all today, incidentally. Otherwise I´m side-tracking atm to the Neo Geo Pocket Color... Two GG cartridges flicker like mad (Prince of Persia, Castle of Illusion). One is a Solitaire identical one with a hot bikini-a$$ label (and Japanese words on it) The GG is an ok piece of historic hardware. Most car racers and the Sonics and Solitaire are fine. It hasn´t aged all that well screen-wise, plus the capacitor iussue. And there seems to be no modern homebrew fanbase. (Play GG BEFORE playing DS! ) In many respects, I consider the Atari Lynx superior. Yet, it´s worth owning a GG, you can do much worse.
  8. I have never come farther than level 8 or 9 so far. 800,000 is discouraging
  9. I assume it´s too late right now anyway for anybody like me who´s NOT in the list to be in for the first production run (loose cart)? I´ll wait for later in the year in this case more time to read more reviews by you enthusiasts. (Assuming you all are not just box collectors ) Til then, Cybervirus time it is for me! it rocks!
  10. http://www.atari-shop.nl/lynx.htm
  11. Various. I´ve gotten quite a lot from people from this forum (their unboxed doublettes, mainly) but also from "the usual suspects" (ebay pro traders) and small but reliable and fast mailorders from the UK, Germany, US and Holland (atari-shop.nl). The homebrews I got from the makers themselves (Lynxman & matashen).
  12. A completist´s life can be such a pain you know the treasured item is out there but will you be one of the lucky 50? (Fingers crossed!)
  13. You already have a number of high quality games. How about Checkered Flag, Joust, Lexis, Steel Talons, Lynxopoly, Yastuna 2 (great Space Invaders there!), Cybervirus, Battlewheels and Xenophobe? Just suggestions.
  14. Yes, I did that a few weeks ago and was surprised how easy it was (compared to other handhelds). No "unusual screws". Cleaned the screen from internal dust and reassembled it, all in all in about ten minutes.
  15. I have never hesitated to do so, usually in the list threads but also in here at length: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/169270-lynx-newbie-here/ Come to think of it, I could take your suggestion and "update" it tonight
  16. Mine was and is in a blue one. LOL 108 Stars, don´t pretend you don´t know
  17. OK, let me see... Main criterion: TIME I´ve spent with them (which of course is proportional to "fun") 1. Lynxopoly (It´s next to perfect for repeated short sessions in breaks.) 2. Rampage (great for diversion ) 3. Xenophobe (same) 4. Yastuna 2 (The Space Incident) [invaders&Domino=perfect for me] 5. Steel Talons (a pretty unique game for the Lynx, mission+3D heli flying) 6. Alpine Games (Biathlon rocks!) 7. Rygar (my favourite platformer) 8. Checkered Flag (favourite racing game) 9. Ms. Pac-Man (I like how you can select the mazes) 10.Battlezone 2000 (great for diversion, hidden game is enormous!) 11.Battlewheels (highest "action per seconds" game IMO ) 12.Warbirds (well-executed, good steering) 13.Rampart (a genius game tho the GBC version is easier) 14.Joust (best port, reviewers are really correct in this case) 15.Yastuna 1 ("Attack", more specifically; spent hours with that one) 16.Paperboy (best conversion IMO & easy enough to play for anytime) 17.Blue Lightning (was my first; showcase) 18.Hard Drivin´ (like the baby brother of the 1990 PC game Stunt Car Racing) 19.Xybots (good maze shooter, good system of weapon updates) 20.Malibu Bikini Volleyball (funny, great music, bright colours) 21.Hockey (good conversion, mind-absorbing) 22.Gauntlet (takes time but is enjoyable IMO) 23.Awesome Golf (a very good portable golf title) 24.Shanghai (more difficult than GBC Shanghai, but beautiful layout) 25.Lexis (gets you thinking under stress, hard but very rewarding) The way I store games, I can see which ones I´ve played most recently and also most often so this is quite accurate and kind of reflects my 2011 preferences I´m expecting Cybervirus which I´ve long been waiting for but as of now and for the recent past I believe this list is pretty definite as far as I am concerned EDIT Thought at least a few words of comment might be appropriate; noone likes to read just lists
  18. Wow, this looks great, 108 Stars - have never heard of that project! To expand the list, even as "useless" in practical terms as such a wishlist is, I wonder would Frontier Elite (II) [Lynx] be possible? I mean, at least the trading should...but with all the scaling abilities, just like in Xenophobe, whenever you land on a base/planet...would look great on the kittykat, I think! Still wondering, can anyone advise how to make three of the four demos available on the above site that have what Wondows recognizes as "DOS executable" playable on the FC or Handy at least? I get the impression you have only appreciated the screenshots and never got to play the demos themselves
  19. Sounds good, Eric (It feels weird running around not really knowing what to do. I really don´t want to study the guide yet. I know I will eventually, but only after having finished Bill & Ted and Dracula)
  20. Cybervirus shipped! :) :)

    1. Songbird

      Songbird

Enjoy the game! I had a lot of fun designing the levels on that one. :)

  21. Excuse me if this has been asked before (if so, I couldn´t find it) but how do I turn the formats of the latter three demos to a "Handy"- or FC-readable lyn or lyx or bin format? Unzipped they all look like a DOS executable programme here...
  22. Nice story. I wonder what what was happening during the intervening months, have you asked her, by any chance? I would guess she got back into playing herself again.
