  1. Well let's put it this way: I bought Activision Anthology on my tablet, PSP, PS2 and PC, Midway Arcade collections on my Ps2, Wii, 360.. intellivision lives on... you know what? I bought pretty much every retro game collection you can think of. Why? Because they made them available to me. Some things aren't available to me, but I still have them. On the PC side of things? I've pirated... one game in the last 5 years... and then later on I bought it. I've got 400+ games on my now 12 year old Steam account, and plenty of them were first day purchases; I decided the 60 bucks they were charging was a fair price. If you make it available at a decent price, I'll buy it. If you don't? I might or might not play it anyway. Unlike others I won't try to claim this behavior is anything but terrible and basically theft. I have no "right" to play anything I haven't paid for, and I have no "right" to demand you not protect your investment. Nobody has the moral high ground here because all of us are pirates. There's no good guy or bad guy here, there's simply what is and what is going to be. People are going to steal intellectual property from others (DKA, Miss Pac Man and so on), and there's shades of grey to all of it. For example, people who sell ROM collections. Shady but.... what exactly ARE they paying for? Are they paying for those roms or are they paying for the convenience of having them all gathered into one place? One could argue all someone is purchasing is someone else's time. Would I prefer people only buy legally licensed rom collections? Yup. But like i said, this isn't about right and wrong, this is about what's going to happen, and how you deal with it. I can;t speak for anyone else I can only speak for myself: So, do you want my money or not?
  2. Half licensed anyway. I doubt they own a Mattel dev kit.
  3. Speaking of: Hey, DZ-Jay! You gave me and everyone else Christmas Carol for free. I feel the need to repay you regardless. We never got that commercial made to run on my station.. so can I paypal you some money instead? I don;t have working hardware so buying a cart is useless to me... but you did great work and deserve pay!
  4. And you guys can argue the morality of emulation and using unlicensed dev kits on long-dead hardware until the cows come home; but the one question that matters is this: DO YOU WANT MY MONEY OR NOT? Carl wanted my money for DKA and D2K, and he got it. Your move, guys.
  5. Same here, man. I'm thrilled. But really.. that's as far as it needs to go. I smell a rotten smell around people who want to claim a moral high ground when we all damn well know if it weren't for emulation (and the inherent piracy) not a single one of us would be here. Not even the developers. None of you are using original Mattel dev kits that belong to you, few of you have licensed anything you're using to make your games. Sure, First Star endorsed this game... which is a tiny step above.. but did you license your dev kits? Or did you use third party tools and unlicensed emulators? While every effort was made to ask Nintendo for permission, DKA and D2K exist without Nintendo receiving a cent; despite CLEARLY being derivative works. We exist in a grey zone. All of us. Developers and gamers all. But I got my watermarked ROM. And if it got out with my name on it.. I'd be embarrassed. That alone keeps me from giving away D2K. After all, I got it for twenty measly bucks! The fact that it was available for purchase is why I buy it, proud to support the developer. I had a chance to buy a product for a fair price, and I did so. Now, if I wanted to play Boulder Dash.. I'd have to somehow come up with a working Intellivison and, apparently, another 70 dollars to play a game I've already played a thousand times on other systems.... with no assurance I'd still get to play it if my 30+ year old hardware dies again tomorrow. Given all that, what do you think the odds are I'd download a torrent of Boulder Dash tomorrow if it was available, vs what I did for DKA/D2K DESPITE said torrents being around? We're all pirates here. All of us. Developers and players alike. Make it available to me at a fair price and I'll buy it. Continue to with-hold it from me and all I have to do is wait a few months then pirate it. Or, if you somehow keep it away from pirates... I shrug and load it up on my Commodore 64. It comes down to this: Do you want my money or not?
  6. My entry: Cell Defense, C64 version http://www.c64.com/games/1644
  7. Can we just save time and say "Everything activision did for the 2600"? Lol.
  8. Correction, apparently he was a Tandy engineer, but he doubts the Non Radio Shack units were any different.
  9. It is true, I do not. But to be fair I probably murdered them myself. You see for quite some time I was living on solar only power. I later found out from an old Mattel engineer that my cheap inverter did not provide proper sine wave inversion, and they (as well as colecos, but I haven't bought one of those yet) absolutely required it. I was basically frying Inteliviisons left and right.. meanwhile Atari systems were safe and fine. Better engineering I suppose, greater tolerances. So now that I'm back on the grid (moved to Illinois) I'm looking to give it another shot. My dirty power I am told did not hurt my carts.. so they're still good.
  10. I would like to buy one? just to have another shot at working hardware to go along with alla my carts.
  11. BUUUUUUTTT that is actually because running power off an inverter destroyed my old hardware. Sigh: Who has some INTV hardware they wanna sell me, then? Lol
  12. I don;t have working hardware. I might as well set a few twenties on fire.
  13. You're damned right we spoke. we said "Hey most of us don't have working hardware, so can we maybe buy a ROM instead"? Also... Hi, I'm back!
  14. I don't think Star Control 2 is even remotely doable. The text alone is larger than 16 k.
  15. Allright then.. how much will it set me back to be able to use the cotnrollers on my real Inty (which I have no working controllers for) or emulation on my PC? Is this Raspberry Pi thing cheaper?
  16. Man I had to save up for 9 months just to buy this. True enough it woulda only been 7, but I had to have that Ms. Pac Man ROM.
  17. Aww. come on. That's my fav first-party inty game Are there any other issues I should be aware of?
  18. Got a flashback... went for Tower of Doom.... ..... ..... why am I not entering melee battle with creatures? Why am I impossible to kill?
  19. Same here.. I can;t seem to keep the hardware working for crap.
  20. allright, should be fixed now: https://www.facebook.com/victor.ziblis/posts/757460107640378?pnref=story
  21. Here, have a video of my son opening stuff and me showing off my Atari/Inty collection to my brother! https://www.facebook.com/victor.ziblis/posts/757460107640378?pnref=story
