Ok. Reading back, that sounds horrible.. I meant the subject being brought to us by the #7 not the controller being broken. Sorry about that.

Working on getting a new TIA, 6507 and RIOT through Best Electronics.. I"ll update when I've received and replaced.

Apologies for that. I selected the wrong picture..
This is the place I used for the installation.. http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2018/09/atari-2600-ntsc-4-switch-composite-video-mod.html
The picture I should have used is this..
Although both pictures look the same...
I will say that the picture looks somewhat better..
I used Console5 for the cap replacement. I got the caps, did the replacement and the above is what I'm seeing now. I'm thinking I may replace the TIA next to see if that could possibly be the issue. I can't think of anything else being the culprit outside of the color pot, which does seem to work, just the color is hideous as you can see and we have the blocks/lines everywhere.

Going to try a recap. The large 2200uF looked a little suspect.
I found a site that has recap kits - https://console5.com/store/atari-2600-junior-refresh-cap-kit-new-capacitors-and-more.html
I'll reply back with how it goes for anyone in the future that has the same issue as me.Stay Tuned..

No, it's all NTSC. The game, the console, and my TV. Tried multiple TVs too.

Hi Everyone, it's been awhile since I've been on the forums!
I've recently had a resparked interest in Atari stuff and started turning my attention towards a project I had laying around that I never got to.
What I have is a Black Atari 2600 4 switch that I'm working on installing a composite video mod into. What prompted me to install a composite mod was not just because I wanted to get away from Coax. It was also because there seemed to be a problem with the video as well. About 5 years ago, someone gave me the suggestion of installing a composite mod and that it should fix the issue I was seeing. I forgot about until it lately and about 2 weeks ago, I got the bug to try the mod install.
This is what I bought: https://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/deluxe-atari-composite-video-mod.html
The picture I used as my guide is attached:
This is the installation I did:
When I run a game, this is what I see:
Part of me is wondering if the TIA is hosed. I don't know how common that is, but looking at the main board, there doesn't seem to be much that COULD go wrong in the unit. I'm pretty surprised as to how simple it is. 🙂
Any ideas of what I might be missing? Am I'm that far off with thinking the problem could be the TIA? If that's the case, is there a place I could get another one?

got it working with some help of soilent green...thanx dude
No prob man!

It was due to the Qt4 development libs. Things should be working fine now! :-)

if i had space for a dedicated game room it'd be nice to have a kiosk. i'd love to see a whole row of retro gaming kiosks at a proper museum too (N64, PSX, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Jaguar, Dreamcast .etc), wonder if we'll ever see the day

If you build it.. They will come..

Like the other guys said, it's GPL 3; there's no need to ask, as permission to use is implied in the license!
There is really only one restriction with that license and that is in distribution: if you distribute, you have to comply with the license.
There are some people that I've ran into that don't get the free spirit nature of open source software. So, they'll say that something is GPL to be "in vogue", but get mad when someone uses the source code in something else.
I'd rather ask and be safe than just take.
Besides, if I run into a problem with the source code, guess who I'm asking. You're the last guy I'd like to make mad! :-)

My goal is to create a lightweight Linux based operating system with the aim to replicate the experience that one would have in using the Atari Jaguar or Lynx, but on newer components.
Someone could take a motherboard with HDMI display, install the operating system provided, and it would boot into a selection menu that would allow the selection of Atari Jaguar (and hopefully Atari Lynx if the project owner of Handy ever gets back to me) games and allow them to be played off of semi new hardware without the need for a real Jaguar. The difference between this and our current emulation as people do off of their computers is that the goal is to more closely replicate the experience of playing a real Jaguar than playing a game for a console on a computer. The Lynx part is an added bonus. I've always wanted to play Lynx games on my TV without needing to mess with a mousepad or being on a computer.
I'm not going to show all my ideas up my sleeve just yet, because there are a lot that would add value to this project. This is just the initial idea of what I'm planning to do.

I've heard that it's better to be pissed off than pissed on.

Robin Hood "Men in Tights"?

You need to install the QT4 dev version.
Both VJ 2.1.0 and the normal version from the site compiled just fine after I installed those.
-
That's killer.
If my wife wouldn't know about it and if I had the money.. I'd be taking a drive to Maryland.

Good luck to you!
BTW, is that your JagDuo in your Avatar?
-
Awesome! Thank you both!
I know that it's GPL 3, but I would rather ask first. :-)
I believe that I won't have any problem with complying with the license.

Hi,
I'm wanting to use the souce code from Virtual Jaguar in a project that I plan to release at some point.
Who would I ask permission from to use the source code? I asked this question on the forum that the Virtual Jaguar homepage points to. Only got the answer that the creator of that project hangs around the forums every once in awhile and hasn't been on in months.

Would totally love to see it! Glad someone other than me played that game.

@theloon - This is a native Android 4.x version (It came with Android 4.0.2). I also upgraded it sometime last summer to the latest firmware. The HDMI out does work, but unfortunately, it's a bit slow. one of the very few drawbacks of this machine. The other drawback is the analog stick not being a true analog stick. it's mapped to the D-Pad.

Hi Everyone,
This is my first dealing on here, so be gentle.

I have a JXD S5110 handheld emulation console. (http://www.jxd.hk/products.asp?id=611&selectclassid=009006). (NOTE: The emulators described on JXD's website do not come with it. They weren't that great, so I deleted them and bought my emulators off google play, which are much better. None of my emulators are included.)
I'd like to trade this unit for an Atari 5200 2 or 4 port model in decent condition with AV hookups, Power adapter, at least 2 controllers, and at least one game.
I'll post pictures in a few minutes of the unit. I'll even include a power charging brick that I've been using with it. This unit also includes a 16GB mini SD card.
Thanks,
Joe

I guess I'm trying to gauge what can be done with a 48k. Would it be closer to a NES? or would it be closer to an original Atari 2600?
-
Comparing 1979 hardware to 1984 hardware is hardly fair.....

In some respects.. In others, I believe it's fair considering consoles are usually a few years behind.

So, I thought that too originally, but the white wire is for audio which is actually working.
