  1. No no no! Whatever you do, don't get a vecflash or multicart. It'll ruin the whole experience for you. Trust me on this, since I got a vecflash and played 30 some odd games in a flurry of about 20 minutes, it spoiled the whole system for me. It now sits in the basement along side the Christmas tree stand.. You have a nice collection to start with there. Enjoy them.. savor them.. get the most out of those games.. then perhaps think about getting another.
  2. The Aladdin's Castle at the Granite Run Mall was truly a fucking magical place. It was your typical 80's type arcade with neon lights pulsating to the tunes of the 80's. Most importantly, not only did they have all the popular arcade games, they had dozens of obscure games. They kept a nice rotation of games, which pretty much ensured a new machine for each visit. Man, I miss that place..
  3. Another vote for Triple Play - just a charming little baseball game
  4. I'm with Bill here about baseball and the sports games in general. They're much more invovled and detailed than the VCS games. However, you do need someone to play against. That's why I have kids - my teenagers can work of a good grounding by playing a little NFL football.
  5. I'm very disappointed with that picture there Crazy Climber.. Everyone knows that when you take a picture of pizza, you snap the shot only after a few slices are gone, to give it the Pac-man effect. Especially on a video game sight..
  6. Do yourself a favor and go to this site.. and check out the message boards there(you'll have to create an account to access) As with anything collectible(like Atari) there are items which to the average person might seem common, go for some crazy prices. I know those with the little treasure chest on the back cards get some collectors all excited..
  7. I assume the controllers are a part of the deal?
  8. perhaps if it was loaded up with about 25 older games, it would be worth it..
  9. Pretty much all the sports titles began sucking upon reaching 3D status..
  10. At the VGXPO a few years ago, I played the Brown Box versus Ralph Baer. He kicked my ass soundly. After the game, he opened it up to reveal the insides of the box. Pretty cool..
  11. Yes, I attended a few years ago. It's a small event, but it's much more productive for non-homebrew Atari carts than any of the other local shows I've been to.
  12. Atari carts have been pretty dried up around here lately at least here in the suburbs. Most of the flea markets are well over priced. Here's what you need to do. Go to this event here.. I'm guessing less than an hour drive. It's free, so you're basically spending for gas. Stay clear of the vendors who don't have any of their carts priced, unless you're looking for a specific game. There's a few vendors who have multiple boxes marked ".50" "1.00" and "5.00" full of 2600 games.
  13. I can attribute beating our chess club captain to this game.. No I wasn't in the chess club in school, but during study hall, he offered a challenge.. I would spend hours setting up some off the wall configuration, sometimes with multiple queens and kings. I once tried to make a turn based football game as well.. Most often than not, the computer would just think about it forever, until I got bored and reset to try another configuration.. great game
  14. There's the Rat Bastard Video Game Jamboree and Jam in Bellmore, which is near you.. Ok, maybe I lied, but that would be cool, wouldn't it?
  15. You can.. When on defense, you obviously can control the linemen, but when you press the button and hold it, you can now control the d-back
  16. I mostly agree with your points there, but I also agree that there definitely needs some legislation to categorize the games and not allow minors to purchase them. I try my best as a parent, but I'm not going to have the time to research every game that comes out. So, if my kids want a game, the rating helps me decide right off the bat, then if I think it's worthy, I'll go research the game. This law is putting those options in my court, since my kids wouldn't be able to go and buy them on their own(not that I doubt they would). For me it's just another tool to help me parent my kids better.. That's good legislation there..
  17. "Welcome Back Kotter" Gabe runs around the school trying to get all the "sweat-hogs" back into class - Easy enough until you discover the mean Mr Woodman is trying to capture them for detention. Similar play to Superman.. If you need a gimmick for marketing the game, throw in signature sweat-hog sounds when they get caught.. cameo by Epstein's mother..
  18. - Skiing - Video Chess - Ice Hockey - Outlaw - Tennis
  19. Nice list of games.. I'd like to change Tecmo Bowl to Tecmo Super Bowl as the better game.. Baseball Stars instead of RBI Baseball Also the first Madden over any Madden to date(really) As far as Activision's Tennis, has anyone else drawn much similarities to Wii Sports Tennis? Other than the controller, the game play is very much the same..
