  1. The game to have for the intellivision is Baseball. The fact that you could choose which of the fielders to activate made it one of the few games where the controller made sense. I also like Snafu and Shark, Shark.

I'm with Bill here about baseball and the sports games in general. They're much more invovled and detailed than the VCS games. However, you do need someone to play against. That's why I have kids - my teenagers can work of a good grounding by playing a little NFL football.

  2. Atari carts have been pretty dried up around here lately at least here in the suburbs. Most of the flea markets are well over priced.

Here's what you need to do. Go to this event here.. I'm guessing less than an hour drive. It's free, so you're basically spending for gas. Stay clear of the vendors who don't have any of their carts priced, unless you're looking for a specific game. There's a few vendors who have multiple boxes marked ".50" "1.00" and "5.00" full of 2600 games.

  3. I'm probably one of the oldest members here at AA and I have two kids (boys aged 14 and 11). I can tell you that some kids are more mature than others. My oldest I allow to play some M rated games (Oblivion and Fable) because he can handle them without being stupid. My youngest on the other hand, well lets just say he won't be playing them at my house until he is a lot older. These laws covering video games are pure rubbish because they excuse poor parenting. The parents allow their kids to do things they aren't ready for, but the parents are too lazy to pay attention. Fortunately these laws never seem to pass constintutional muster.

And my wife is a soccer mom, and she feels (like I do) the average M rated game isnt't nearly as bad as the average R rated movie. Yet nobody ever wants to restrict them. Of course how many of these people that want to ban games ever play one?

I mostly agree with your points there, but I also agree that there definitely needs some legislation to categorize the games and not allow minors to purchase them. I try my best as a parent, but I'm not going to have the time to research every game that comes out. So, if my kids want a game, the rating helps me decide right off the bat, then if I think it's worthy, I'll go research the game. This law is putting those options in my court, since my kids wouldn't be able to go and buy them on their own(not that I doubt they would). For me it's just another tool to help me parent my kids better.. That's good legislation there..

It happened a third time this past year, in the arcade. I was playing Ms. Pac-Man, and was coming close to a score of 110,000. I still had three lives left. Well, another mother lost control of her young son, who tried to edge me out of the way, touch the controls, etc. A Cherry walks onto the screen, and he's like "Oooh! Cheeeries!" ... but I had long since passed the banana board -- 5000 pts. each, biatch! So I'm trying to ignore him and keep playing, but keeps breathing his nasty air down my neck, and just before I can reach the "Junior" cut scene... GAME OVER.

were you sitting down at a cocktail cab? :ponder:

  5. "Welcome Back Kotter"

Gabe runs around the school trying to get all the "sweat-hogs" back into class - Easy enough until you discover the mean Mr Woodman is trying to capture them for detention. Similar play to Superman..

If you need a gimmick for marketing the game, throw in signature sweat-hog sounds when they get caught..

    cameo by Epstein's mother..
