I was curious how people and if people classify the rarity of Homebrews, and other recent productions. Even the ones that can me made to order are still severely more "rare" than many of the R8,R9 carts. BUT obvioulsy they are not worth more than what a new one costs.
So, is there a comparable rarity, especially for the "Out of production" Homebrews or "Limited"/"Numbered". And where does Boulder Dash fit in?
The homebrews I have are
- Boulder Dash
- Halo
- EMR
- Jack and the Beanstalk
- Harmony (I consider it a Homebrew, it is a new board that runs a unique program)
- my Nontendo R.O.B.
and limited repros like
- Turbo
- Powerlords
- Boulder Dash
-
And yes it was Escape from the Mindmaster, good job. (did my clue make sense in hindsight?)
-
Secret Quest??
Nope, sorry.
-
1 - Stairway
2 - Peg
3 - 4 loads
4 - Get out
5 - maze
This should be enough I think.
-
Okay... I'm going to guess Home Run.
1. Satchel Paige
2. The bases look like "pegs"...? There was also a Peg Baseball game.
3. Four pitches will get you on base... possibly loading them
4. Yer out!

Wrong, but good guesses though.
To clarify, hint #1 does refer to "Stairway"
-
Nope again.
Hint 5 One way doors.
-
No more guesses? I will try to think of another hint. The next one I have is tooo easy.

I have a couple of carts like that. Snoopy was one I always wanted since I am/was a huge Peanuts fan since a kid. I bought one on ebay for a devent price, then got one "included" in a lot that I bought. Then I searched and finally got a manual, kinda beat though, but complete.
-
Nope. Another Hint.
4. Get Out
I will be out most of the day' so keep guessing.
-
Assuming I am right.
- Turn to Paige to get to Heaven
- Find Peg along the way
- You may require 4 tries to get loaded
I'm thinking BurgerTime
1. Jimmy Page - Stairway to Heaven
2. There is a place in California called Peg Burgers
3. 4 is the most levels you might have to knock the food down
1st clue is good, not the other two though. I was hoping the spelling didn't make it too obscure.
Nobody got it yet.
- Turn to Paige to get to Heaven

mash
I haven't played it, but it all fits.
Section 8 for Klinger acting crazy
Will Burns
Theme song "suicide is painless"
Correct! You are competing against Frank Burns in the surgery sections.
Ugh, where did Will burns come from... I knew it was Frank.

The most I have paid is around $400 and my max is a penny below what it would take to cause my wife to shoot me.
LOL same with me, but my max is much less, the most I have paid is for Boulder Dash (And wll worth it) My next "Big Ticket" item is I REALLY want a complete Custer's Revenge... And some rarer stuff that I don't have but nothing over $50 value.
Probably the most valuable thing I am actively searching for is a ,Gameline (anybody want to sell one?)

All interesting information. What a bunch of crap legal documents are.

What are hotspots? And what is a over dump?
Hotspots are what the games use to change banks, they can differ depending on how you dump the cart. Your overdump has the data twice. The game is 2k, your dump is two copies of the 2k of data making it 4k.
Mitch
1st, thanks, I suspected that, but didn't know why they would differ on the hotspots.
2nd, not me... I was just butting in and asking since I plan to dump my carts as well with the Harmony.

If falling behind is a concern, besides playing each week, a good way to potentialy catch up and
still be fair, how about, bonus point/s awarded each round, for each player you beat ahead of you?
(only for players outside the top 5)
like +2 bonus for each player you outscore in the rankings??
I like that, like an underdog bonus. You only get it by doing well. I think it would be hard to manage, but nothing a nice excel sheet wouldn't handle.

Maybe the high score each week sits out 3 weeks, the 2nd place sits out 2 weeks, the 3rd place sits out 1 week. (more of a joke, but could be interesting)
Sit out 3 weeks... That's a pretty bad idea

I don't like anything in this sort but....
... if we should go for a more competitive championship I would do something like ballasts used in car racing. Some sort of handicap.
Maybe previous round winner would have his score as a result of his game points minus the points of the lower score of the week.
That way the player who can't score much would take points from the previous round winner. That should give him some incentive...
Well, just throwing ideas here. I wouldn't vote for this

I know it is a bad idea, I wouldn't vote for it either. But in reality, there is no fair way of handicapping. Handicapping at its root is not fair, it is more like communism of competetion. It brings everyone down to the same level, and removes any incentive to perform better.
BUT done well with fun people, it can increase fun.
Anyway, my vote for to keep it simple, keep it pretty much the same. I like the bonus points and stuff like that.

I would like to play a season, I have participated in the past, but lost interest.
There are so many excellent players, most of us have zero chance of placing anywhere good each week.

Isn't that what the American Pie et al movies are all about? Really bad cheesy films that date badly as soon as they're released!?

AP was the attempted revival of 80s teen sex comedies. In "the day", 80s teen sex comedies were all over HBO after their theatrical run. The plot was simple: horny teenage boys trying to get laid, wacky hijinks ensues. To attempt to make a film like that today would be branded as kiddie porn. Apparently we've gone back to 50s conservative values.

Yep, back to drugs, mass murder and dismemberment... Oh wait, that is current movies. The 80s ones seem innocent to current movies. They all dance on the edge of PG-13. I would like to try out "Joystick" to see what it is like.

Assuming it works, it is high for that set, but it does look VERY nice in the picture, almost no wear on console or sticks.
The carts included are worth MAX $2 total, since any collection had multiples of them. But it does look real nice.
-
I updated my harmony and I tried it out today, and will have to play through it some, looks good.
If it does go to cart, it should be packaged like the original, I think a dual boxed set type of thing would be cool. A sleeve for the new and original side by side...
