  1. Well I found some of the bin files, so I have the rom images I made, but no source code yet. I fired up the ancient DOS/Windows 98 machine that my eprom burner needs (it has a propriatary ISA card). It has a folder on it from December 2011 with several files I made. I always said I would release it, never got around to it. How should I make it publicly available? I don't want the Atari world to lose out on anything becase of a stupid PC issue caused by some damn jackass trying to extort money from people. I caught it and stopped it barely in time before it hit anything very important to me, but I still think I have a copy of the source code somewhere, even if in a printout.
  2. Well another year or so, and I'm back on. Mainly to post bad news. While I was apparenlty visiting some nefarious site or somehow. I got a ransomware program to hit my PC. It encrypted tons of crap, I may be able to get it back, not sure yet. All of what I have considered important (Primarily family pictures/videos) was backed up and is restored fine. BUT, it got my Atari development folder and my source code and documentation. I never worried about it, because I wrote it, and could just re-write it. But the learning curve would have to start over, and I probably wouldn't bother. I'm sure I have at least a copy of the bin somewhere. I also lost the code where I was controlling SEGA/Generic 3D Glasses with the 2600 and displaying (Very Crude!) alternating images timed to each lens shutter. Luckily this was all so long ago, it is probably well before all of my current drives, so it may be tucked away on an old IDE drive in my stack under the desk.
  3. I really liked the arcade one, could play it for a long time. I guess I was actually expecting it to look and play a lot better, and include a lot more of what the arcade did. Back in the early 1980s I never realized how limited the 2600 was, it is amazing that they got it that good looking back, but it was not worth the money at the time. I would love to have a complete one now, just because I used to once, if only for a day. For a 2600 game it is good, for "Spy Hunter" as in the arcade it is not.
  4. I had one of those, I bought it new for a ton of money. I was a big fan of spy hunter in the arcade and was so appalled at how horrible it was, I returned it to the store. I think I still have the velcro on the bottom of one of my sticks from it. I really wish I still had it, but I still remember the feeling that I wasted so much money on a crap game. I have always planned on making another holder for kicks, and also for the R.O.B. cart I made uses both sticks, not that it is needed at all, just for kicks to make one. I think the original was vacu-formed, but I'm sure a 3D printed one would work better. I know a guy with one, I'll look into it.
  5. Correct, as far as is documented on the first Stella Gets a New Brain CD. I believe they spoke with her and she gave it to them to be included. That is probably my prize item in my collection (not money wise, but importance to me), it is what really got me into collecting back when it first came out.
  6. FWIW, I updated my old thread about the Non-Tendo R.O.B. cart I made years ago. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/190214-i-got-my-atari-to-control-my-nintendo-rob-robot/?p=3694420 I tested it on the AFP and it does work, and will control the robot when the AFP is connected to a TV, but not as reliable as on a real 2600.
  7. I'm digging up my old thread. I tested this on the Atari Flashback Portable I just got and it does control the R.O.B. Robot when the AFP is connected to my typical test TV. It is pickier on location (angle and distance) but it does work. The picture quality is excellent, and "feels" like the screen is behaving the same, but there must be some difference. Maybe I will try recording it and playing it back slow. I have messaged Al about putting the .bin file on AtariAge along with the instructions I created years ago, but have not heard back yet. Also I will probably modify it so it will work with the limited controls avaliable. You need 1 - up 2 - down 3 - left 4 - right 5 - open 6 - close and it will also do 7 - up x 2 8 - down x 2 9 - "reset" where it will go all the way up and right, then reset to center. I was thinking D-Pad for up/down/left/right, and fire for close and bw/color for open since it is momentary anyway, and using game reset to reset R.O.B.
  8. My first was a light 6er, I'm guessing 1982/83, I don't remember where I got it from, I think it was used. I bought a 7800 and a 2600Jr new later on.
  9. Dang. Speak of the devil. I just tried to read up on playing Riddle of the Sphinx because I think that I remember finishing it in my youth. I started reading the instructions and it uses the color/by switch
  10. I just want it to work as close to correct as I can. While I do have wishes that is was more perfect for me, I am extremely pleased with how usable it is already. I know some games use the color/bw switch in gameplay, not sure what all does. I think one of the Space Shuttle games does, and I know one of my favorites Phasor Patrol does for the shields. But I don't think it works on the AFP...
  11. With Sky Diver, (one of my favorites) you can also play the variant where there is only 1 landing pad, and only the first player to land on it gets any points. So you are forcing late pulls of the chute almost guaranteeing some nice splats.
  12. Thanks, that link let me to http://atariage.com/forums/topic/254611-atari-flashback-portable/page-20?do=findComment&comment=3637891 and, it looks like there might be enough room next to the battery on the left side, I want to try something. Also I am considering making the color/bw button toggle like the difficulty buttons do, unless someone else already did that.
  13. That is the first thing you should check, re-read the chip after you program it, and compare to the original file.
  14. Thank you for implementing this. I really didn't feel comfortable hacking up that nice list that obviously has a lot of work put in to it.
  15. Thanks, I may use that as well.
  16. Yeah, I did try that, I was trying to find out if someone had a file of the same woodgrain already.
  17. Thanks but I was looking for an image of just the wood grain itself, not an Atari.
  18. I thought it might be thevnaguy, I messaged him, since he fixed it when someone hacked it up.
  19. I have a request for this list, can the standard ROMs that are listed as "unplayable" but have been updated to work, be listed differently, perhaps "modified to work" or something. This way it can be sorted by that column and separate the still bad ones from working ones easier.
  20. Currently, where is the cheapest place to get an AFP? I am ready to order on Amazon for $51.
  21. Does anyone know of a good large image of a woodgrain that is close to the 2600? (Or even the burl on the Sears units) I want to print something out that is as close as I can find, so the higher the resolution the better.
